So bizarre to hear how little retail stores in the UK have womens, anything. Go in any store here in the US and it's basically 50/50, even golf shops

The number of women who play in the UK makes it financial unviable for many retailers and pro shops to keep ladies stock in store as it is often a struggle to sell it. As a result many places like my own have to resort to ordering stuff in when asked for as we simply can’t afford to hold lots of stock and not sell it.

Yeah, it's kind of a catch 22. Mia had a good point. How many women came into a local shop looking for ladies gear and not finding it. Then they say forget it, I'm not playing golf if I can't even get the basics. But you can't run a business on maybes 🤷‍♂️

Not in my neck of the woods of the US. My girls play and one actually played HS golf for 4 seasons, said it's like finding a needle in a hay stack, unless you are in maybe metro plex. We have 3 courses here and only 1 pro shop carries much in the way of womens apparel, and a collard shirt starts at $80! But they don't hardly carry any shoes, or skirts. And everything is pink. One of them said they might as well just wear mens xsmall. lol!

That’s so weird, by UK retailers. My local golf Drummond Golf store in Australia has 50/50 split with all clothing. The likes of footjoy and Ecco have a great range of women’s shoes. Also they carry a good selection of women’s golf sets as well as many fitting options for women.

We started at the same age (I'm 26 as well)! I just broke 100 yesterday... Sounds like crap but I was happy with it being my 3rd game. I'm in it for the fun.

Breaking 100 is a real challenge. I played for years as a teenager and never did it ... started again as an adult, joined a club, and did it on maybe my 10th round.

I was a little shocked to hear about a lack of women's attire in England. In Germany/Switzerland, shops have 50/50 mens/womens products.

Hi Guy & Rick. Big fan, Love the podcast, been listening since almost the start. Anyway my point - I’ve always felt your podcasts have had way too high audio dynamic range (ie you’ll be talking quietly then all of a sudden a huge jump in volume as one of you talk louder into the mic). This can be jarring for the listener so you need to look into audio compression to fix these issues - audio compression brings the quiet parts and loud parts into balance, while stopping the audio distorting... I’ve stayed quiet for now hoping someone else might mention it and you’d fix things.. however after listening to this very podcast with yourselves and Mia on my way to golf yesterday I feel I have to message you.... not only was there apparently no compression but there was also a lot of digital distortion in places. Distortion is not good!! Very nasty for the listening experience. My advice would be to get yourselves better compression and mastering software - a great all in one package is the Ozone mastering suite. Has compression, studio EQs and a maximiser among other helpful tools. Get it done now! I’m an amateur music producer so I’m no expert, but I’ve learnt a thing or two about mastering audio over the years. Hit me up if you want some help.

Admire Mia for the self promoting and doing what she is obviously very good at! HOWEVER, the whole “I’m a unfairly treated beginner woman golfer” and “ golf needs more equality - because I can’t find ladies golf clothes” is getting very boring. Nothing she wears is specific to golf! And all her shoes are spineless!! 😂 good on her for taking advantage of a “sexiest gap in the market” - smart girl! Making golf more accessible to everyone is how you promote and grow the game - and unfortunately it’s a lot harder and will take a lot more unseen work and the people actually doing it - will more than likely never get the the recognition or opportunities rewarded to an influencer like Mia.

So strange to hear this story from Mia. Here in Canada 🇨🇦 it is probably close to 50/50 in apparel. Clubs and shoes more like 1/3 to 2/3 women to men. But to hear that there is nothing for women in such a large store would only suggest there are very few female golfers in the UK. Is that the case?
