Puerto Saavedra is the main urban center of the commune of Saavedra, in the IX Region of Araucanía. The place, which in Mapudungun means “the melody of the river when it sounds†, is located right in front of the mouth of the Imperial River. In addition, the waters of the Pacific Ocean, Lake Budi and the aforementioned river converge here.
The city was founded by the sea in 1887 by Cornelio Saavedra. However, the 1960 tsunami devastated the town, which later had to be rebuilt behind the dunes in the sector.
With a temperate climate with oceanic influence, in Puerto Saavedra temperatures range between 12 and 25 ºC in summer. Meanwhile, there are rains throughout the year, which generates the existence of a permanently humid and green environment.

El 9 de julio 2022 estuve almorzando en Bocabudi, estámuy hermoso como siempre aúnque el Mar le quite terreno a las playas o al cerro. Le tomé fotos a mis dos nietos que me acompañaron ahí justo donde se cortó el camino antiguo, me dió terror hacerlo, pero fue un bello recuerdo. Es impresionante como se ve en éste video!! Gracias.

La Barra estuvo hasta el terremoto del año 1960, ahí apegada al Cerro Maule, con la subida del terreno se habrió la nueva Barra al final de los pinos donde está ahora, claro que en esos años habián solo chochos que tienen flores amarillas. Eran muy lindos.
