He's a darling for sure. And when he turns his head, I see some greyhound there, so the world's fastest couch potato seems a fitting description!!❤❤❤❤❤

@@susanpugh130They are all pure bred Border Collies. They have to be pure bred to be a Working Collie. They need Stamina as well as. speed. Greyhounds have very low Stamina but are faster than Collies.

I've considered adopting a senior dog for this very reason. But no, I don't want to leave them behind. When my current fur baby is gone, I'll have to just enjoy everyone else's.

Our dog died recently and, like you, we have decided it wouldn't be fair to bring home another dog because of our age. It was already getting hard for me to walk our dog. But I so miss having a dog around the house.

This is a most enjoyable video. You and Stacy have a beautiful bunch of “kids” and it’s clear that your “children” are thriving under your love and attention. There are people that can’t describe their human children as lovingly as you have talked about each of your dog’s characteristics. What an amazing family the 6 of you are. Thanks for a great video! That ‘ll do! 💚🐑🐏🐾🐾🐾🐾

What a fun video! I really enjoyed you talking about each dog’s strengths and challenging parts :-) I know you are a thoughtful and inspiring trainer for them. (I also have 3 working border collies although we aren’t on a farm-I’m always thinking up new things for them to do.) Border collies always want something to do and you showed how you bring that out-they get real work :-)

I really enjoyed you're description of your pack and their individual personalities. I've owned Border Collies for over 70 years (JamieJJ my current/last one is almost 18 years old). Each one has had a different character from being a fast couch potatoe to a hyper active workaholic. The most important thing I found was to also exercise their minds...A Border Collie is equally as intelligent as any 4 year old child.

Beautiful and smart sheepdogs! Do any know how to herd cattle as well? I can't believe the people to mix Border Collies and other dogs here in the USA! Do they do that in the UK? I wish I could get another BC. I miss mine, but I can't exercise them like I used to, so it would be unfair to get one now.

Loved this video!! Kate reminds me so much of the border collie my grandparents used to have. She originally grew up on a farm but she wasn't good enough at herding so they had no use for her anymore, but thankfully, someone we knew who lived near the farm told us about her and my grandad basically came home with her immediately 😄Her name was originally Nell but we changed her name when we got her. I was 10 at the time so I was allowed to name her and I decided on the name Magic. We had her as a pet so not a working dog, but it took a while for her to unlearn the commands! We'd sometimes say them on purpose to see how she reacted haha. Unfortunately, she's no longer with us (we were never sure about her age but I think she was around 14/15 years old) but your videos bring her back to life so thank you 💕

Echo and Storm remind me of my Blazer and Tazzie. Blazer is a boy bigger faster , rough coat with slightly non-symetrical white face marking, a big sweetie a little skeptical of ppl. Tazzie is a girl with shorter coat and minds the best, not as fast as Blazer but definitely the smartest and gets super excited around strangers. We have acreage for them to run and they track for us but no livestock to work. I love your videos and dogs, watching them always makes me smile. Thanks for sharing them!

BC would not be happy in a City. They also need a lot of Exercise and mental stimulation. They really are happiest when they are working Sheep Dog's. People get a Dog because they like the Breed but they need to get the Breed that can have all its needs fulfilled. Especially Dog's that were bred to be working Dog's.

Sean i appreciate you making this "Get to know the dogs" videos. Kate the great! Shes my favorite, dont know why she is though. Echo will only improve as the seasons pass. Storm is a firecracker 🧨 and i thought she was male 😂 Love Monty's old soul like a pawpaw in the porch swing. Your approach to Kate's early days and nervous issues resonated with me. In May, I adopted a now 16 month old male Catahoula Leopard Dog (Louisiana hog dog, Catahoula Cur) from a shelter and he's pretty much a purebred. Awesome nose and eyesight plus so calm and gentle. He is inside at night, usually at the foot of my bed or on the sofa. He's leash free unless we are taking a walk or a ride to a public place. His first year was full chaos and fear, multiple fosters who didnt want to let a hound be a hound and explore scents, not walk a straight line so im dealing with a lot of emotions and even food issues, he was locked up in a bathroom and taunted, but we are 2 months in and his trust and companionship is increasing. In the beginning it was hard to remain positive at times but seeing his improvement is amazing. He's coming into his own self more and its awesome to watch. He will now run my 3 acre yard freely and its wonderful seeing his black and grey mearle coat shining in the sun. Hes almost too big to get zoomies now 😂 i think he wants to ride the lawnmower with me like yours and the 4-wheeler 😅 I'll update if he ever does because he can fit between my feet with room to sit or lay 😂 Good day to you and Stacy 👋

Thank you for share mg so much about your Border Collies and Monte, the normally speed dog. I really like your in depth description of your Border Collies’ behavior’, instinctive behavior, and temperament, from these 3 working, homebodies. I appreciate that your dogs behave and indicate a natural behavior of this breed that I can recognize even those I have never had a sheep farm, nor a farm work life for this kind of dog. I had a 3 month old puppy given to me from a sheep farm, which had a white coat with black patches and unusual eyes: one blue and one blue and brown. All the things I have learned about your dogs and what I learned about my dog, her natural instincts, her natural ability to learn commands from physical gestures and words, indicated to me si had a Border Collie. The farm told me. No papers, but who cares!!! Congrats on your channel Sean. 👍🥰❤️☮️💟

As a teenager my mom picked up a dog at the local shelter. She had been dumped because she had given birth to 9 puppies. She was a border collie/lab mix. She was by far the most intelligent and best dog our family ever had. She even naturally corralled the cats when they escaped outside when we directed her to do so. The only problems were her tendencies to slam food down and forage/eat anything outside, even if it caused sickness (which it cost us at the vet sometimes). This was due to her time as a stray and survival instinct. The other was her unfortunate development of separation syndrome, which was probably also due to being dumped. But she lived a great life and because of her I've been in love with this breed ever since.

I have a mix Border Collie Australian Shepherd and I'm always amazed at the shepherd instincts he has despite never having seen a sheep in his whole life. I often worry if these feel unhappy if not working..but then again, he was raised at home like a pet and despite getting exercise he loves the couch, naps and cuddles. If we wake up too early he sneaks into our room to get back to sleep...I hope I am not keeping him from a great outdoor working dog. Your dogs are amazing and it shows they are the happiest ❤😊 thank you for sharing!

I see that Ozzy Man gave you yet another plug! That man does love Kate the Great! Also, I was thinking of you guys yesterday when I saw the Mike Rowe, who used to have a "dirty jobs" show, went to work with a trainer in CA. She made him herd ducks as well as sheep! 😅

What a beautiful video once again 😊 Keep it up! You can really tell you guys truely love your dogs and respect their needs. I loved the stories how they came to be and their strenghts and weaknesses during work. I only recently found your channel thanks to the impressive shorts of your dogs at work. But I truely enjoy these videos too

Im not sure whats most satisfying with this channel. The scottish accent (i think its scottish at least) or the dogs. Ive commented it once before, Echo is such a piece of beauty.

What a nice video. Thank you for educating folks reg working dogs. I am preparing to take on a working cocker puppy, and even if the work for a gundog is vastly different from the work of herd dog, there are a lot of similarities in the training.

I have a gun dog and yes the training is very similar. I use the whistle for recall. Perhaps the only difference is that maybe your gun dog gets used to loud noises, like guns going off. I don't know how sheep dogs react.

That was very informative, and it’s nice to see how each dog interacts with you and your partner.

Kate looks just like my Sasha. She passed away 7 years ago. We rescued her, and we had a blue heller, border collie mix and Sasha became very aggressive. We couldn't take her anyplace in public. She had 5 people in her world and anyone else she would attack. The dog I have now is a Boxador, boxer chocolate lab, 72 pounds of fun. Love watching your dogs work. I would have loved to have train Sasha to herd sheep, with her temperament, that wasn't possible.

Getting my Aussie shepherd cross with a border this Sunday so excited🎉 I’ll wait for the journey to begin. I love your videos and all your insight and thank you for sharing all the dogs that you have on the farm and their interactions and their personalities. It’s lovely to hear.
