Dumb tech question. Does there have to be wifi nearby? Or does camera send pics direct to phone, if in range?

I guess that would be Bluetooth, huh? Duh.

You have to be connected to wifi to receive the notifications or for the live viewing. Where I set up the camera was too far away for that but it will still record when out of range so you can go back and view the videos
