Two high safety defenses should be outlawed for what Kirk Cousins did to the Eagle's 2-high safety defense alone.

2 high safeties is the current meta defense but it will change as soon as teams start to run the ball well. Then teams will have to change their defensive scheme to defend the run and that will be the meta. Offense and defenses always evolve. No reason to force change.

Exactly. Teams devalued the running back position and went more spread as a result the defense has gone too more 2 high safety looks.

The hell with every fan that loves the run game or watching defense. That's what he's saying. Just shit on half the fan base to play football he likes.

If you abolish 2 high safeties, then you are getting rid of an instrumental part of Cover 2 zone plays. I mean, sure there are some teams who have the personnel to play Cover 2 Man, but that is very few and far in between. In man to man coverage, your team gives up way too many completions, and the defensive backs have to rely on speed and knowledge of the receivers’s routes. They also must be very disciplined and make the correct judgement calls. Besides, if the offense is allowed to evolve their concepts into a pass happy league, then what is the issue with the defense evolving to try to catch up with the offense?

You’re getting rid of what makes football, football. Such a stupid and outlandish take. Wouldn’t surprise me if the NFL debated it too if offense & passing touchdowns decrease. Casual fans are destroying the game

Getting rid of two high saftey just is not fair for defense players.

So we might as well outlaw running the back postion all together and just make it a passing league. What a joke.

If teams didn’t collude to get rid of the running back, there wouldn’t be 2 high safeties.

They wouldn’t get rid of the running back if their 6th rounder rb did as good as the first rounders in most cases. Defenses can stop the run so easy

And yet theres so many defenses that can't stop the run @BruceWaynesFactory

Way better idea: Allow CBs to be more physical with receivers in the secondary and soften PI rules. That way, DCs don’t have to sit in Cover 2 all the time and can play more coverages plus you’ll see more competitive plays between DBs and WRs. When you take away physically from the game it becomes 7on7.

Exactly they only bring so much safety help becuase a corner can’t do a lot 1 on 1 without getting flagged despite going against an athletic freak unless he’s an established superstar and even then the refs are ready to make the call in the offenses because the QB and WR complain so much

Pause 1:27. Somebody please muzzle Mel I never pick the right draft picks Jr. You can barely touch the QB, certain tackles have been taken away, kick offs have been changed. Meanwhile as well let the cheerleaders get on the field for a play or two.

‪I knew this was coming 😂, and it’s exactly why the NFL is going to be unwatchable in the future, because you have too many people that think the league isn’t ‘aesthetically pleasing’ enough, prompting them to make ridiculous suggestions like this, which will cause the NFL to look at changing the rules to cater to the offense even more. You’re taking away what makes football, football, only to appeal to the casual viewer.‬ Only a matter of time before they debate banning running plays. Stupid

The league is reverting back to Dungy ball as we called it in Tampa Bay back in the 90s. Low score and all defense.

@@beazy3364 A. Teams have been playing cover 2 like this for multiple years. He had 4500 yards passing last year. B. They had a 3 TD lead early in the 3rd quarter on Thursday which included a Defensive TD. The Bills were purposely chewing up the clock for the remainder of the game, especially after Tua went down. It's not like he didn't throw because Miami was stopping the Bills offense. Hes completing 70+ percent of his passes. He had a 33 yard connection to Ty Johnson.

Mel kiper is right. There should be a certain distance safeties can't start the play past. This will make the league more exciting. Imagine the hail Mary pass at the end of the game if the safeties have to run at the start of the snap. Deep safeties have eliminated big plays and force teams to run. Once it's a holding call the possession is killed
@damonsonnier34

Here is another alternative: More teams should start running the ball and throwing underneath more often. That is how you bring the 2 high safeties closer to the line of scrimmage. That way, the offenses can deceive the defenses by calling for a play action/RPO.

7:50 What irritates me is this is an age old thing in football. ITS LITERALLY WHY TOO PASS HEAVY TEAMS RUN INTO TROUBLE IN THE PLAYOFFS. You want the Safeties to move up? MAKE THEM MOVE
