Saturday said it best, that last year Josh probably should’ve won it as the best qb then. Lamar won it for all the same reasons Josh won it this year. It’s a narrative, best with worst, did more with less, degree of difficulty of wins, and beating both 1 seeds late in the season, over achieving expectations. If it’s truly just the best player in the league it should be Mahomes every year. If it’s just the best stats, then it should’ve been burrow. It’s obviously a nuanced and balanced award that takes all into effect which is why it’s josh Allen. Same reason I as a bills fan admitted the Lamar deserved it last year. The flip flop argument is just as annoying to flip flop from year to year as it is from award to award, so if they really wanna fix this, then make a clear rubric and standardize the vote to award points for different aspects of the award
