Just took mine today! Scored an 87! Also a bonus, most military bases can proctor the exam if they are approved by the FAA. Best part is that the exam is free if you register to take the exam at any of the approved sites! It will save you $175. Edit: you need to be active duty, reserve or guard

@@wisedevelopmentmedia sorry , I should have clarified. I took the exam at a Naval Air Station nearby. I just registered to take the exam on PSI exams. I drove to the site, (where I signed up) showed them my military ID and boom! Took the exam at the site and passed it. Saved $175 doing so as long as you can get on base. (There was a lot of airspace questions on mine lol). As long as they can proctor it then you're good. Most air stations should have the ability to do so.

I brought a led light magnifying glass and they would not allow me to bring it in. They also would not allow me wear my hoodie and BB cap inside the testing center. Although they didn't use the wand on me, they did use the wand on two people that were in front of me. I took the test in Centennial Colorado, but I'm sure it all depends on who is in charge and working at the testing center that day on how strict they are.

You only need a license if you want to fly commercially. However, even if you want to be a recreational operator you will still need to register the drone if it is above the weight limit and take a online safety exam.

I have my temporary certificate printed up and just waiting for my permanent one in the mail. Self training for the 107 exam in the studies was a bit difficult actually however i managed. Currently i am just working with a training drone since my last dji was stolen before i even had the chance to use it. Once i feel more comfortable, I already have a major compay wanting to employ me however again i just want to be proficient before investing in another dji amd working for someone. I was just wondering how long it will take to get my permanent license in the mail, obviously it takes a bit of time.

I own gold mines all over the world and will be in state parks included so it’s a must for me to have the license. Which I’ll do over fall while I work on projects. The thing is though I’m in state parks all the time too. That seems to need permission to fly on top of the license. I’m gonna be using it for tracking shots as I have to hike places up hills in remote canyons and gorges. Sometimes these places are in a state parks or previously Native American owned lands back in 1800s. Deserts and waterfalls, water tanks, buffalo wallows etc. it’s not like I’m using the drone on a soccer field only. I’m actually going to be using it to make money faster

In the FAA webpage they suggest as a study material the "pilot's Handbook of aeronautical knowledge" book that contains about 522 page. Do you think is really necesary read it? Or should be enough with the study guide?

A real page turner! You don't really need a lot that's in there. Most of it is for manned aviation. You can thumb through it if you want... I'd focus on the airspace/sectional charts info along with info about aviation weather. Outside of that I'd look at other, more condensed resources.

you can always look up your license on the FAA airmen database to see if they have a record of it (if you ever got a card form the FAA in the mail, it should still be in their system). If you've done the recurrent training in the last 24 calendar months, you should be good to go!

I tried the "Free" course, I put in my email to enroll for free, it was going well, but after the first 5 two minute lessons when I went to the next one it said lesson content locked. it said enroll to continue, which was confusing since I had already received an email saying that I was enrolled. when you click the button, it asks for $199 to enroll. The FAA does not issue licences to pilots. A 747 pilot does not have a licence to fly. The FAA issues certificates for each kind of aircraft, including several levels of drones. If you must act like a teacher, please learn the proper terminology.
