An old grandma with her gun in a purse can outdraw me. But her first shot better take out my central nervous system or else she is toast. I can shoot pretty good. Probably my hunting background where the first shot better be a good one. Mine will be.

His trigger finger can be seen the entire time outside of the trigger guard. That isn't an ND.

Not a big fan of this exercise. I know things can be argued in so many ways but I will give my 2 cents. We all know we perform as we train and train to perform for success. I do not like training a pause into my tactical training especially with quick drawing. Quick drawing and speed exercises for me are in situation that require immediately action I.E being in a gun fight situation where I need to eliminate an immediate threat. If anything, I like to teach and train getting rounds off while coming up onto target and then aiming for more precise shots at that point. Most gunfights will be less than 3 yards and if the initial rounds hit or subject anywhere it benefits us dramatically.

Disagree. Bad advice for self defense scenarios. It breaks a rule of firearm safety to put your finger on the trigger - because "prepping the trigger" is doing exactly that - before the gun is on something you wish to shoot. And it's illogical (barring obvious exceptions like 6 - 12 inches away) that you can be both _certain_ that the gun is on target while your finger is _on the trigger_ before you actually put the gun on target. You can't square that circle. In a self defense scenario, if you accidentally pull the trigger (under stress, "sympathetic grip startle response", etc.) while "prepping" it, you are legally responsible for that round. So, if it ricochets and hits someone (like the bullet that hit President Ronald Reagan) or as you step off the X while "prepping" and it hits someone, there's at least one lawyer waiting to make you suffer the consequences. The TV-style prosecutor question goes something like this, "So, can you explain to the jury why your finger was on the trigger before your gun was aligned with where you wanted to shoot?" You will need to be 100% certain the gun is aimed at something you're willing to go to trial for shooting. So, prep the trigger only if you are exactly that sure.

Prepping the trigger before the sights are on target violates one of the universally fundamental rules of gun safety.

You’re wrong
@Steven_M. Жыл бұрын
I understand you’re argument which does have some validity. However, in continuous training you should know your platform and specifically your trigger. Me in “prepping” my trigger I’m hovering or at most lightly letting my finger touch the trigger as my sights are “already confirmed on target.”
@richardthomas6602 Жыл бұрын
@stevie4045 there is no doubt the technique works well on the flat range or in competitive events. However I don't think one would maintain that level of finesse during the chaos of high stress altercations.
@richardthomas6602 Жыл бұрын
@Asymmetrical.athlete if you have access to firearms, you are wrong and dangerous. "Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target and you have made the decision to shoot."
@mustangtonto5862 Жыл бұрын
@@richardthomas6602 . Good point, however with a LOT of practice one could be able to achieve success even under severe stress.

The holster is not a competition holster it is a duty holster. Competition holsters are completely different.
