Super dope mod team Prusa // ** Question ** In terms of harmonics (vibration) does this increase movement of the printer in the forward backward & size to side or XY dimensions ? Also does the filament spool spin on a bearing/ sleeve or other low friction mount into the spool ? Does increasing the length of the Bowden feed input tube cause any technical issues with jamming ?

Nice design, the overall non-compactness of the mini on a desk was the reason I switched to i3MK3s. The only downside I see in this mod is that the underside spool holder will be specific only for some spool types and sizes, so I imagine that with a lot of spools you end up using the separate desk spool stand anyway.
@TGWMS3 жыл бұрын
so you can remix it for spools you mostly use ;-)
@PetrHosek3 жыл бұрын
@@TGWMS yes, but it still won't be very universal, which is what I usually desire, I usually have a variety of spools around. Also, extending your logic further, I can build myself a completely different printer if I don't like this one, but it should not be a universal argument to dismiss any reasonably constructive critique.
@TGWMS3 жыл бұрын
@@PetrHosek of cause. We are Prusa and we have Prusament. if someone use something different then remix it for other brands of filament. It is never possible in this design to make it completely universal. Some spools are wider some small. Others need only samples of a few grams, others have big ones 2-5 kg.
@PetrHosek3 жыл бұрын
@@TGWMS Sure, I was just pointing it out as something to keep in mind when going into this mod. I guess that making a microwave-style rotating dish for the spool could be more universal, but would also come with its own limitations, mainly increased height requirements.

Except for the power button and the USB port, everything looks cool. I have no problems with soldering, even better with heat shrink type, but average people will skip that hassle and keep both on original place. IMHO, a single insert piece with both button and USB hole, close together would look better. Also, extensions. Use an additional, accessory cable that goes straight to the board. So you can keep the original button in place, disconnect the jack, cover the connector, and connect the longer one.
