When I traded my 5th wheel in for a class c, as I left the dealership I turned the radio on. Kept having to turn it up to hear as I increased speed. Little did I know that it was set to outside speakers and that was what I was weakly hearing. Of course everyone along the way could hear it nicely as I passed by.

Smokers: Gotta be sensitive to EVERYONE else. Smoke away from other campsites/RV's & have a sealed butt bucket. I smoke and I use a coffee can which is SEALED when not being used. There is no excuse for leaving cigarette butts anywhere: street, parking lot, store front, campsite, nature. I get it and I pick up both trash & ciggybutts when I camp. Actually, OCD- everywhere I go!

As a smoker myself that loves to camp, I have always used common courtesy and and stay away from other campers and always have a closed but can with me. And as an owner of two dogs I would never think it is ok ti not pick up after either one of them. One of my dogs actually can't go outside to potty because of severe allergies to grass so he uses potty pads and I will usually have a large dog play pen with a thick tarp under it so that he gets outside when we are outside. The other dog is a service dog and she stays next to me at all times. a leash or line interferes with her tasking.

We've done the 'outside speaker' thing as well. So embarrassed the next day when we realized it. Luckily our neighbor said they never heard it. #1 issue impacting me is barking dogs. I work from the camper quite often. Have issues with dogs barking while people are gone. Esp. annoying when the owner is right there with them and does not teach/stop them. Best part is getting to know new people and seeing new sights.

Totally agree!! We actually live in a RV park full time because my husband works at the park and some RV'ers can be total nobs and very rude about others "space". We have a child but teach him rules and boundaries of others. Some parents let the kids run around others sites ( and right by their trailers) screaming and playing. Some guys come in from working all day and don't want to hear all that. One of my pet peeves.

So true! I've seen several videos about this topic, and it's often dismissed as people not understanding "camping etiquette". I think that's a bit of a cop out though. You don't have to be a camping veteran to understand that we all have our own space, and to both expect and give respect to that space. I think it's more about common sense and respecting others than about not understanding etiquette.

I agree and disagree. It depends on what you consider walking through. I'm guilty of doing it as a kid, and as an adult now I could not care less when kids come through. Most adults I see that pass through stick to the camp site boarders, which is fine to me. After all, you are camping. Its not property, but more about respecting "living spaces" or "bubble".

I had an instance where we were docked at a spot for several weeks. The camp next to us recently had children which was fine. The incoming RV'ers assumed the bicycle helmet and other toys left behind belonged to us so when they set up camp they put all the stuff on our own picnic table right in front of our door without asking or saying a word, They basically threw all the stuff on our side of the camp. We have no kids and when this happened we were inside our RV watching TV. I came out about 1/2 hour later and asked them who put this in our camp and they assumed it belonged to our non-existent children. This may seem more like bickering than anything, but please reach out to your neighbor before throwing stuff on their side that you assume belongs to them. Courtesy by far is probably the best attribute when camping next to others.

I think that would be an excellent idea. A posted set of rules and a list of rules with details of Campground Amenities which must be signed, with Carbon copy for; and “damage deposit” charged to: the would-be Camper, prior to paying for and being appointed, a site. The signed ‘rules’ shall be an agreement to adherence of said rules, legally binding, giving campground staff/owners cause to evict after one warning. One warning only for each rule broken. Everyone deserves a warning. No other campers deserve to be treated like doormats. Since a signature is legally binding, campers are thus warned that they forfeit their fees when evicted. Wanna make a mess? Fee and ‘damage deposit’ may be used to make repairs and clean-up the site.

I'm 70 years old. I am 5'4" tall. I drive/live in a 10' tall, 20' long one-ton van. I recently had to leave a very crowded small parking lot. It took about 6 points to get turned around. I had an audience when I got pointed in the right direction. I leaned out my window and said, "How ya like me NOW?"

Here is a funny story. Our first trip with our RV we had our chocolate lab, Kali with us. I back our Class C in and my hubby gets out with to help hook ups. We leave Kali in the rig. Well, I’m the driver. I’m 4’11” so basically I sit on the hood. Lol. Kali jumps in the drivers seat and gets stuck and is beeping the horn with her butt 😂. Everyone now knows we are there.

Took our youth club for the annual camporee. Parents and family are invited to these but they don't seem to mind walking through someone's camp space. Some even stopped and were peering into our girls tent. Our leader went ballistic. We notified our main leaders and campers were informed on being respectful to fellow campers. We resolved it by buying orange temp fencing that are used at construction sites to go around our camp space. The following years we noticed other youth clubs did the same.

One you can add is leaving their campsite and not putting out their fire. We have seen lots of people pull out while their fire is still smoking. With all the wild fires we have had it makes no sense to not take two minute to properly extinguish their fire.

Great information. A lot of people just don't realize the effect their actions may have on others. We agree with 99.99 % of everything you said. Here are just a couple of things to help people understand why some of the things you mentioned happen. Simple one first. A lot of people leave lights on for security reasons at night. If a little old lady is stealing things during the day imagine what could be stolen at night in the dark. Just be courtious enough to have them point to the ground. The next one is a safety tip. First of all don't throw anything in a campfire that doesn't burn. Even wood has small explosions if it's not totally dry. If there is broken glass or something like that the wood explosion could shoot it out. No it's not far fetched, I've seen it happen. Once with a piece of glass from a broken beer bottle, and once with a small staple size pieces of wire. People were injured each time. Now for a VERY important one. NEVER EVER throw any kind of container that has had some type of flamable fuel in it into a fire. Including aerosol cans. The small green propane cans my feel like they are empty, or stop working and you think they are empty. THEY ARE NOT! They still contain gas fumes, they just aren't preassurized. Until they are heated and have no release, then they explode. An empty gas can with the lid off can cause an explosion from the fumes. I want to believe that the person who threw the green can in the fire pit didn't do it with intentions of hurting anyone, just didn't know what could happen. You said it was under the ashes. It could have been thrown in as trash the next morning and wasn't seen. A lot of people don't check fire pits they just throw more wood in and light it up. This isn't just some kind of rant this is knowledge obtained from training with a forest fire fighting team. People be considerate and be safe. If you pack it in PACK IT OUT. Remember what goes around comes around. You could be a victim of you own carelessness. Chief

One more equally helpful hint for STRAIGHT LINE backing... First and foremost... Get out and check behind you for any objects that can damage your tires. Place your hands at the BOTTOM of the steering wheel, instead of the top where you have to momentarily reverse everything and temporarily reprogram your brain (you're already under stress anyway, right?), and WATCH 😳 YOUR MIRRORS to ensure you're straight. Now, SLOWLY and gently IDLE BACKWARD, while watching your mirrors. (You got this! 👍) When the trailer begins to go to the left, and it will, be prepared to FOCUS ON WHAT YOU'RE DOING. (Your front trailer axle is ALWAYS the pivot point in backing) simply EASE your steering wheel to the left... (The SHORTER your trailer, the FASTER it will react) Woooop! Easy now, don't over correct! Pull forward and straighten back up and try again. That's it! 👍 Do the same thing when the trailer goes to the right. Looks like you've got it! You are soooooh awesome! Whomever came-up with the idea 💡 to place hands at the top of the steering wheel simply didn't think outside the box! Lastly, your getting close to the campground now... find a vacant area of a parking lot and practice this BEFORE arriving at the campground. Practice for 5 or 10 minutes. Now! It's fresh in your mind, your confidence 🤔 is high. Head for the campsite right away and back it in. Those folks standing around watching you will think 🤔 you're a 😱god!! (I told you that you could do it. You didn't believe me, did you?) Drive safely and please be kind to others. Happy trails. 🤠

We went to a new park. It was so beautiful but.... Tent campers next to us set up hammocks on our side of the site which was like 5 feet from out picnic table and fire pit. Their kids were jumping all over our picnic table 😠 tent campers behind is (these were rv sites) set their tent up not to the right of their site but between our site and theirs . and letting their dog poop without picking it up. We got the hose and made it muddy so they wouldn't walk back their. I should have said something but I did shine my flash light to let them know I saw. Ugh I dont need that stress. People walking through our site all weekend bcuz there was multiple families camping and visiting each other. This was my first stressful trip. 😥

Great video, our worst experience was when the campers next to us came in late, loud and drunk from town (about 1am). They spent the next 45 mins talking loudly, slamming doors, arguing etc. It was VERY irritating! We asked the RV park owners to let us move. We were the second ones to complain about them. They got asked to leave...

You were lucky, we had a camper next to us at a campground, who left in the afternoon in his Rv to go to a concert and came back at midnight, he parked his class A and got out slamming his bay doors and in and out of his Rv for 1/2 an hour, then he proceeded to get his charcoal grill out right beside our bed room window and light it. It just smoked no fire, he was still banging and slamming doors and we had enough so we opened the window behind our bed and said politely it’s 1:00 am and quiet time is 10 so could you please keep it down we are trying to sleep, he got mad cursed at us and then he puts up two fans pointed directly at our Rv blowing the smoke from his grill directly into our Rv. Our bedroom filled with smoke even though the window was closed. We had enough and called after hours number and complained. The office did nothing, we didn’t get any sleep all night, and the next day instead of making him leave they wanted us to move two campsites down. He came out and said to my husband this is camping get used to it. This is what camping is all about. When the campground did nothing we left two days earlier then planned and they never apologized or gave us any money back, they never cared. Rude campers like this can ruin a good camping experience.

We were primitive camping once, sites well separated by a small patch of woods. The neighbors were drunk and got into an argument. Lots of cussing and threats. Finally I hollered through the woods ' please don't give her no more wine, it worked, they settled down.....

Thank you for the real answer on lights, get the blackouts. I am in a tiny rig, but I made the stealth window covers. I have had people tent camping right next, like 1 foot, to the rig. I am glad I had the covers or they would have been more glad since I have to change right there. 65 isn't pretty. Get the window covers and love everyone.

Love your videos! Stuck in what they call an RV park near Dallas, TX as we're here for eye surgery corrections. It's really just a trailer park. Barking dogs all night & day, dog poop everywhere, neighbors parking huge trucks on our site & threatening me when I ask them to move but they do move when my 6'4" 280lbs tells them to move it...lol..., kids screaming constantly, people revving up motorcycles for hours & not going anywhere, sirens & traffic noise, fights..you name it & all the other RV parks in area are booked! We Used to live in the DFW area & now we remember why we left...lol We get a hotel room 2-3 nights a week just to get sleep! UGH!!! This is why we try to stay at 55+ RV parks & can't wait to get back to AZ!...And we have LED lights on under motor home to keep critters out. It works! Get some cheap light blocking curtains on Amazon & you won't have that night light problem. It works!

Growing up in Ohio and living in MI and PA, we never had a fence. Occasionally people cut through but really is not an issue. As far as the dog goes, we always had a radio fence.

We had a sound reactive dog that barked alot.. she also hated her crate but had to crate her so she wouldn't destroy the camper. To combat the sound reactions, we turn our radio on at a decent level but not loud enough to hear outside. And ALSO turn on the rigs fan(usually its on auto to cycle on w the ac) but turn it on manually to continuously run. It's good white noise for your pups I also would check w our neighbors to see if it worked initially.. and it did so try fan and radio. And sometimes I'd run our tower fan too for more hum

I agree with you guys on so many of these things. Cigarette smoke/butts; lights, pets/pet mess pick-up, loud obnoxious neighbors, etc. With technology as it is and the great sound quality of portable blue tooth speakers, I don't know why RV manufacturers continue to install external speakers in RV's. I have actually removed our stereo from our RV and we stream music from our phones. If we want to watch a DVD/Blue Ray disc, we have a separate player connected to the TV for that.

Great video, guys! It was sort of covered in "noise" but we're not fans of people running their commercial generators all day long. Especially out boondocking and they've come and parked right next to us. Heres One, Just bought a black water Tank hauler tote. Went over to the dump station across the park, and about 20ft. away there was three people sitting on a picnic bench just watching the entire dumping process. This was the first time i used the tote, and wasnt real familiar with its use. I go out to camp to get away from people and unwind, its turning out to be weird to say the least.

I was constantly left shaking my head at people who would volunteer themselves to help me back a truck and semi-trailer in or out of a tight spot and then promptly go and stand behind my trailer where I couldn't see them in my mirrors!

I'm retired and camp a lot in SoCal. Excessive noise in the State Park Campground is against the rules. The first thing I do when I arrive is talk to the Camp Host and get their opinions. Then call on them to enforce the rules. 2 things that should be banned are 'open-sided' generators and using outside TV and speakers in a State Park.

In MN most houses don’t have fences. We back up to woods so we don’t get a lot of people through our yard, but we have a trampoline that is open for other kids in the neighborhood to use and we love it - other families share their playgrounds in their yards - very communal neighborhood where we all share our backyard toys for the kids. As for dogs - we don’t have pets but people get invisible fences or they pay to have a fence put in.

My wife and I have often commented about our rv experience being far less of a wilderness experience than when we are at home watching deer, turkeys, quail, etc from our living room or deck. Rv’ing has become more of a mobile suburbia with very crowded conditions.

We are new full-timers in a twin rig! (2018 GD Solitude) We realized the other day that Zone C was outside of our rig. We really hope the people around us liked listening to true crime documentaries the night before we realized! OOPS! We also have a neighbor family who are pretty awesome - they have 4 kids and 2 dogs. The kids let the dogs out ALL THE TIME. We definitely wouldn't care so much - except we have a dog who isn't great with other dogs. The RV park we are in made everyone take their dog fences down a couple days ago - because it's "against the rules" - so our dog is with us on a lead when the loose dog comes running at her. Not enjoyable. Yesterday I was walking my two dogs - and their loose dog came charging us. It went well - but my heart was thumping out of my chest for a couple hours.

Too funny on the speakers! Dogs are always a tough one! So many CG do not enforce their own rules when it comes to dogs. And...dog owners are not always responsible dog owners. There are rules for a reason!

Their dogs bark - then our dogs bark back and it's so early. Really sweet family - and we like them a lot - but it's super early to have all of that noise going on in the morning - as it would be if we were keeping their littles up at night. :)

We have a Class A and I mounted my surge protector inside my bay by cutting the wire and putting male and female plugs on each end , this way I can plug and play and easy to replace a defective surge and best, it’s in a locked cubby

I am a retired (after 43 years) over-the-road trucker. Please let me offer this suggestion... Backing up? Get out and look! Who cares if you have to do it five or even ten times. As to those folks standing around watching you... believe me, the vast majority are NOT any better at it than you! Why do you think campgrounds advertise "pull thru" spots? Remember the acronym, 'GOAL': G-et O-ut A-nd L-ook!

Lugging their honey bucket through your campsite, flooding your campsite and extending their slide out into your campsite this and having to pick up their trash in your campsite were all done by one couple over a weekend!

Lol, i agree campsite spaces should be respected. Not just crossing through, but respecting the space. We just had the man at the site next door come over into our site early while my teen son was starting a morning fire and started loudly visiting at 7:00a.m. it woke everyone up! I could hear my son was politely direct to end the conversation but the fella didn't take the hint. My son ended up coming inside. That evening during dinner we found they'd moved their camp chairs to the edge of their camp, facing ours, and occasionally jumped into our conversation while we ate dinner on our picnic bench. They might have been lonely, but it wasn't the time. Awkward.

On the fence issue, we're from California so I get your perspective. But in the neighborhood where we live now in Colorado, we back to open space and very few people who abut the various open spaces have fenced yards. Nobody has ever walked through our yard; there are designated access trails into and through the open space that people stick to. And its cool for the kids to be able to roam back and forth as desired. We thought we'd build a fence upon moving in, for our dogs, but now we just take them out supervised if not on a walk. Never thought I'd say this but I'm so happy to not have a fence.

Trespassing is an issue everywhere. I lived on the water once and had a dock out back. Neighbors on each side, but no fences. You had to walk through someone's yard to get to my dock and I would look out back and there would be people just fishing from the small dock in my back yard. They also seemed incredulous when I asked them to leave.

We haven’t started rving yet, so watching these types of videos is helping us know how to be polite park neighbors. I would think leaving a light on would help deter theft. We leave our porch and outside front lights on each night at home for that reason, but I can also see how it could bother someone parked close by.

Agree with you guys about all the subjects you brought up. My wife and I are always so worried about respecting our neighbors space. Luckily up to now in the over 2 years now when we have been out on trips we haven't had to deal with to many of these issues. But have talked to others about their nightmares out on the road. But being a dog lover will admit what total gets me is not picking up after your dog. Nothing worse than taking a evening walk and stepping in a pile in the dark. We love your channel keep the videos coming.

My number 1 is generators. We have camped at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for NASCAR weekends for 12 years. The campground has a rule of no generators from 10pm to 7am and every year there are people that I think have their generators on timers. Because it never fails that right at 7am their generator turns on and they never turn off until right at 10pm that night. I mean who needs them running all day long?

Been rv-ing in the Kansas, Ok, Mizzou area for 5 years now and the biggest issues I notice are loud music into the night and walking thru our site. No matter how close I park the truck to the 5th wheel, they still walk between the 2. Why!!?? Also, my father-n-law is one of those campground "helpers." Mortifies the family. Lol.

So glad you addressed these RVer concerns! Re: our issue with smokers, we were surrounded on three sides by smokers in the RV Park where we are wintering. Normally we wouldn’t have complained but since we will be here for awhile, we honestly couldn’t deal with the constant smoke. The couple behind our rig would park their camp chairs behind their rig which was directly behind ours (we have rear living area). We just think a designated smoking area would be a good idea for the park to have. The RV Park totally understands and helped us move to a much better location in the park.

Was shocked to read about people using the water hook up meant for the RV potable water supply by sticking the sewer hose up on and around it to clean the sewer hose! Horrifying! We are newbies to RVing and would have not have known about this had I not watched your video! We will be sanitizing all those water supply connections!! Just bought our first Camper and looking forward to getting started on our RV journeys!

As far as the light comments,we leave our lights on at night on a low setting as well as the under carriage lighting changing colors slowly which helps keep the pack rats from exploring our brake lines and other things under our 5er.

When my hubby and I were driving as a professional trucking team the folks who would insist on going behind the truck and start waving their arms around were sooooo annoying. (My husband can back expertly and I knew what needed to be communicated, help from others was not needed) Imagine backing your RV is the same story

old house as a kid. the yard had a fence so no one passed through. neighbors behind us however did not have a fence. trespassed through their yard constantly to get to the other side of the neighborhood. they either did not no, or did not care as nothing was ever said.

We had a Workamper walking her dog on a retractable leash. Someone let 3 dogs unleashed. They rushed at her dog, he got scared, he wrapped his leash around her legs and she fell backwards and left in an ambulance. I hate off leash, and retractable leashes are just as bad!

Most new developments will not allow fences because they are unsightly and limit socializing. In LA many yards are quite small so fencing makes more sense. I enjoy the openness of an unfenced yard. The only downside is the neighbors dog makes an occasional unwanted deposit.

When we were growing up in the 50-70's in a post WW2 subdivision in a borough in PA nobody had a fence and the kids all enjoyed running around the neighbors yards. It was accepted and we never had a mom or dad tell us to play elsewhere. Sadly those days are gone. Probably a lot of families did not lock the house doors at night either.

So our house does not have a fence around yard. The surrounding neighbors are never just walking through the yard or any random people. One of our neighbors dog has the invisible fence to keep them in there yard but out dog just knows where our yard ends and stays out of everyone else's yard.

On the dog issue, I have a problem in my apartment complex with people who's dogs are off leash and come running up to my chi chi who is 12 years old and cranky. I have to grab him and pick him up really fast before he attacks the other dogs. When I leave my dog at home he has anxiety, so I do give him anxiety medicine and my neighbor has told me he has calmed way down. He only barks when he hears someone outside the door. I had tried all the other thunder shirts and what nots and the medicine is the only thing that calms him down. This is another reason why you shouldn't cut through people's campsites, because you are going to stir up their dog/s. My little guy loves his crate unless it is closed and he is locked inside of it. I think that is because, I adopted an older dog who was not socialized or trained well. He was also with full-time RV'rs who never left him in their rig. They took him everywhere! LOL

Thanks for the Video! I think it boils down to - BE CONSIDERATE!!! I find it odd that so many people have a problem with such a simple concept. Leash and care for your dog, buy a decent generator or use solar, buy a good portable speaker and don't 'share' your music. BE CONSIDERATE. "The Golden Rule"?
