At 2:47 what you're saying is wrong. I got scared one time because the button was not working when I pressed it. To activate rth you need to short press one time and then do a long press on the button (exactly like you turn on the drone or controller). Just pressing the button doesn't do anything
@GetBusyLiving3 жыл бұрын
Actually you press and hold. 👍
@Al-Kwadrone3 жыл бұрын
Also can be used to very promptly PAUSE any flight manouver as quick as possible… So maybe one single push will pause and short-long push will initiate RTH??? Or maybe one long push on that same button, there?? Post your opinion or experience if you dare, folks!

What do you think about birds and how to spot them and avoid making them angry. I read that if a bird is going towards your drone you should fly up because birds can't fly fast up as they can fly in any other direction which is pretty useful. Great video
@robbenmitchell79493 жыл бұрын
I did that, I wanted some vid on a nesting bird. I obviously freaked the bird out and thenext thing I seen were talons framing out for my drone. I freaked out and went backwards and up as fast as I could. I wasn't concerned for my drone as I was about hurting the bird with my drone. I now give birds a wide distance and have am glad I didn't hurt the poor thing. As I said I'd rather lose my drone than injure any animal.

Might be nice to have an "ascend & hover when battery low" option since often this cures the LOS problem that resulted in losing signal in the first place.

Question, on RTH. I’m not seeing RTH on my phone app, any longer, only the Land option. I hear, that voice, says the home point has been set…just wondering if maybe, somethings wrong. My firmware on both drone and phone are updated. Thanks
@GetBusyLiving2 жыл бұрын
The take off button should turn to a RTH once the drone has taken off. Failing that use the dedicated button on the controller.
@johnyancho74603 жыл бұрын
I have not seen this question before. I am going to a place that has a valley. I will be taking off from the top of the valley and the drone at some point will be below the altitude at which it took off which could be 400 feet or more below the take off point. How does this affect the RTH function.?
@ov1lord3 жыл бұрын
Nothing special will happen. Your drone will go up to the rth altitude you set up ABOVE the home point altitude. So you go under 400 feet and the rth altitude is 100 feet, the drone will go up 500 feet and return to home

I am not 100% as I only just got a Mini2 after selling the Mavic Pro Plat (I own other drones inc the Mavic 2 Pro) There is a thing such as Dynamic Home Point this will actually use the current connection to the controller if it has a method of getting GPS too return to home back to you and not where it last took off from. This is my preferred method when flying around water and on the beach as that way you can go for a stroll with the drone and have it fly back to somewhere relatively close to you in you need to get it back quickly, but I highly recommend having a Plan B and C if doing long range flights and understanding HOW to manually set your home point on the map if it does not have one though this will only save you if the drone has RC connection. Other tips in more advanced software you can actually set what to do if certain trigger events happen such as fly back to a waypoint instead of HOME these can circumvent the signal loss RTH function if you desire but are pretty useful for controlling the behaviour of the drone while it is out in the air doing some fancy video for you... I highly recommend including multiple mission based behaviours in fully automated flights I have had my share of drone crashes because I was too lazy too implement safety so trust me just do yourself a favour and setup a number of different things. Worth noting at this time that software such as DroneLink and DroneDeploy for terrain mapping or more enterprise style mission planners can actually circumvent the failsafe on signal loss as sometimes signal loss is intentional and required to get the job done due to terrain and other factors you may wish to let the mission continue now this is usually pretty safe if your flying REALLY high just passing over the terrain doing terrain or city mapping and need to cover a lot of ground fast without caring if the signal is lost just get the job done fast.... Just keep in mind the low battery failsafe will always kick in no matter what in that situation so 8/10 I am guessing you can rely on the automated battery management to get it back within range before it falls out of the sky or lands who knows where, that said some of the drone line up can actually be assigned multiple controller locks which is really handy. In the case of some software you can also use multiple APPS running on other devices to act as a GPS lock so if you loose main RC it can pick up a lock on the other devices and continue its orders Usualy you would just put some spotters around the flight path areas and have them radio in when they see the drone as this lets you rest easy its flying along safe and sound. I at times use the continue without RC connection in my mapping missions but I advise when doing so to break up your flights into stages for as much as the flight as possible try to test it first with RC signal so you can see if anything is going wrong with line of sight and camera feed back, once you know the missions is safe and viable without any concerning obsticals or hiccups you can turn back on the continue without RC and start the mission and focus on communication with anybody whos looking out for it and just let it do its thing... One such reason you would want to do it this way is when the mission is covering more ground than a single battery can handle in that case you position some other people around with fresh batteries and the mission plan etc have the drone land at certain spots they swap out the battery power it up and it should then re sync the mission from another device nreaby and continue but that is fairly technical stuff its easier if you don't need to need to land it for such things :).

Did not know that the mini 2 was the only quad to reset HP if landed, I thought that my mavic pro did that, gonna have to test that. Also here’s a question, if the quad is set to hover on lost signal will RTH on low battery still apply, I ask as you said it would hover until the battery ran out
@FlymyPhantom3 жыл бұрын
I’m betting that if it doesn’t regain signal then it will RTH when the battery gets low as opposed to just landing. I’ll get out and test it tomorrow and let you know

Smart enough to push a button??? I must admit: Every now and then, I actually failed on pressing or pushing certain buttons, at the right time… such as record for example.
