Adam Mays I recently purchased GGD and I’ve been really happy with it. I still use my EZ Drummer 2, but it’s something to add to my sound library. It’s like owning more than one guitar. Sure you can use one guitar for everything, but some are more suited for specific things. GGD is great if you want to get away from the EZ Drummer sound. Obviously, live drums sound better than any vst, but it’s good to have options for when you’re programming drums.

@@AlexIsiv It really depends on the type of music you're making, and the level of mix you plan to make. For a mix free demo, EZD is probably the way to go. I bought a MIDI pack from another company than GGD and when I am importing a midi file into Reaper, and adding Kontakt (GGD Invasion) to the track to play the instrument. Kontakt works normally and I hear the sound just fine when arming the track and playing the keyboard, however, the midi track will not play (when pressing play) using Kontakt. The meter doesn't show anything, except when I play manually. I can use other (non-Kontakt) instruments and the midi track plays fine. I can also do the exact same thing inside Studio One, and the midi track with Kontakt plays perfectly with no problems. What am I missing here? I prefer to use Reaper. All device settings are correct. Assume I know nothing about midi. PS' Some of Those Midi work properly

@Ryan Monroe the thing is that EZD2 and SD3 has function that searches your midi library and lists the most compatible with whatever you tapped in for your riff. Even if there's no exact match you get to start with a real beat played by a real drummer where you just need to move some accents or something like that. That's what makes the big difference to me. If I have to program everything from scratch it's going to sound generic. Toontrack is fatastic that way and it works with 3rd party midi too.

@rockyowitz 4 жыл бұрын
Couple of things it could be (I used to have this problem as well, or at least similar when exporting midi from tuxguitar) 1. In your DAW and/or MIDI editor, change the channel of the drums to channel 1 (one). That instantly got me sounds on that. 2. If you're hitting a snare in MIDI and the snare isn't being played (either another sample plays or nothing), you'll need to make edits to the Mapping feature within the plugin. Basically, you'll have to set the MIDI up. There are a few templates out there for different mappings. I just downloaded one for "General MIDI" in the Getgood Drums group on Facebook and it's been working like a charm

To me, I still miss what I would call a vital feature : multi output routing possibilities. Like having my different tracks on my DAW (Kick in, out sub, Snare Top/Bottom, etc...) so I can use my very favorites plugins, tricks and hardware on every single piece the way I like (like my good old multi generated Lo freq "triggered" by a keyed gate on the kick or my parallel comp/distortion on my snare). I tried the older version and didn't really liked the routing abilities....

GGD sound way more like real drums than most samples, IMO. And the time-aligned, max-velocity sound isn't a fault of programmed drums and samples, it's a fault of the one programming them. Misha and Nolly who run GGD both program VERY realistic drums that aren't time aligned, have dynamics, and are basically impossible to tell apart from a real kit. Samples and other software tools are only as boring as you make them.
