I'm enjoying this series very much. Saws are such simple tools but there is a lot to learn about them, and the skills to use them effectively. I'm getting the impression that it requires patience and persistence ;-)

Thanks Michael. Like most things, learning to do it well takes some effort. Thankfully, poor sawing can usually be corrected with a plane 😉

Great video! I learned a lot. Can't wait for the bow saw build.

Nice video, Mitch. I also have a jigsaw for small work. The so-called bow saw I know as a tail saw. I have used it as well.

Cheers Günter. Never heard the term tail saw, I wonder where that name comes from

Cheers Mitch, I know this is a comic word, times in the Duden looked. There stood this Chisel saw, type of chuck saw, with very narrow blade for cutting sawn (curved) lines ... Small conversational lexicon

Sounds more like the keyhole saw than the bow saw?

I only know that the saw has a frame like the frame saw, only with a very narrow saw blade (about 5 mm [about 2 "] wide).

Thanks for the info, Mitch. By far the saw I have used the most out of those is the coping saw. Alot of trim work on houses years ago.

A fret saw is so named, I presume, for the intricate cut-outs of fret-work often seen in screens? So what is a coping saw named for? I am enjoying both your channels, especially where you "video" a build...real time or edited, I enjoy both. All success to you.

Cheers Phil. Perhaps because it was the second fix carpenters go-to saw for coping with all the trim detail - The relief cut made for internal mitres, and such like, are called cope cuts. That would be my guess anyway. Maybe someone else knows better
