I've discovered your videos just now and I really like the way you teach the basics. Explaining techniques on the go when you need them. Your steps are easy to follow along and I like the homework assignments. I only have to figure out how to do woodworking in a small apartment with limited space and very thin walls and floors.

Unplugged and smaller projects would be my thoughts on apartment woodworking. You can build big in a small space, but the logistics can be a pain.

Have you helped me? Yes, enjoy every video. Do as many video's as you see fit. Still trying to acquire my tools and get used to them!

I'm not actually target audience for this channel anymore, but I still like to watch these. It's good to remind yourself of the basics and real hand tool woodwork is always interesting. I have learned to restore hand planes from your videos and also lots of joinery skills. Some advanced things are still in future study folder.

esa062 Thanks, I appreciate that. Hope you continue to enjoy it all. If you do ever have an idea in mind for a video, please let me know. Cheers, Mitch

Mitch, I really enjoy your videos. I've binge watched your box progression. I will send you a photo when I make. I seem to spend a lot more time watching videos than making anything. Your series got me off the sofa and to the hardware store to buy wood. It's a start.

Fantastic! off the sofa is always good to hear. I look forward to seeing what you make. Most of what I do is on my other channel, so check that out too kzbin.info

Hey Mitch, I have to agree with Woodworking Fangirl, Do what you can, Take care of #1 first! All videos are great, Just cover what ever you see fit. I'm sure it will help someone watching. Take care & Happy Easter! Oh Yeah, About the box, I do have a Doctors excuse, Right? LOL!
@getintowoodwork9 жыл бұрын
***** Cheers Luther. You are excused! It is tough to get viewers engaged though, I guess I shouldn't take that personally :)
@lutherhgrindstonemtn34569 жыл бұрын
Yes, Please don't take it personally, has nothing to do with your teaching skills or subjects. Most videos I watch are for the knowledge to know how to work on things that I am interested in. I may use what I learn right away or later when the opportunity arises. I just log them into what brain I got left and pull up what I need later. But if the information is not there, to bad for me, so I try to learn as much as possible. Keep on doing what you are Doing and we will be all the better! Thanks Take care.

I'm a few years too late but I've been interested in taking up woodworking but have experience and no idea how to start. Your channel is by far the best as you start with the very basics. Really looking forward to seeing more but need to order absolutely everything from Screwfix! Can you recommend a starter work bench, chisels and other beginner tools? I'm hoping to make the box as my first project but need a work bench with a vice first... Thanks again Mitch and I hope you're making more videos!

Thanks for your kind words. There won't be any more videos here, BUT plenty more on my main channel kzbin.info If I'm not too late to help you with bench and tool ideas, drop me an email at post@womadeod.co.uk

Hi there 1. What do you want to see next? What type of wood to use and when to use it i.e hard wood , soft wood , how to prepare it and what joint to use 2. How often do you want episodes? Weekly. 3. Have you helped me? Yes, you have thanks a lot .
@getintowoodwork9 жыл бұрын
John Geldenhuys Hi John, thank you for your feedback. I hope to cover those things in 1. Weekly is a struggle, but that was my aim, and I will try, although there will be the of break like this Easter. Really great to hear that I'm helping.Happy woodworking, Mitch

Feedback 3:I've just realized with 95% of woodworking channels I've subscribed it was during the process of researching simple to even primitive workbenches, including compact ones for household lurking woodworkers, then making simple necessary tools (mallets, marking gauges...), then vices, then sharpening. I completely gave up on ready-made or even moderately complicated diy vices ultimately. You can even view my massive woodworking playlist to see in what order I progressed. Please note the order might be somewhat broken as I started with a common electronics and woodworking playlist only to split it into respective subjects.I'm obviously not claiming to be your representative aspiring woodworker. I'm just saying it won't do any harm to look into my case :)

That's quite interesting. Definitely food for thought. Cheers, Mitch

Feedback 2: Vise. I'd recommend at least mentioning primitive wedge-based box vises/clamps as well as wedged leg vise,
@getintowoodwork8 жыл бұрын
Noted! Although I usually end up spelling it vice, and receiving comments from the lexicographers out there!

Get into Woodworking Just think up some shady etimology and add that that is how it's spelled in Britain since before Americans started "simplifying" :) I myself am not a native speaker so I have a luxury of choosing whatever suits me. When it comes to naming technicals I tend to favoUr British English though ;)
@Tome4kkkk8 жыл бұрын
Don't worry about few submitted photos etc. I think I fit your target audience well so let me shed some light on possible caveats: - I've subscribed every woodworker on youtube and instead of actually DOING stuff I watch stuff, fearing I'm going to miss something; a greedy rookie syndrome; it will go away with time - I'm in the process of collecting basic tools; the little free time I have is COMPLETELY eaten up by shopping and gathering; so no boxes - even if I had made a box, I may be to swamped to drag my butt to submit a photo; shameful and ungrateful but true :/ Feedback: After watching tens of supposed beginner-oriented videos one omission stands out. Wood grain direction considerations! And I'm not talking about cutting. I'm talking about strength and possible deformation. An instructor craftsman himself DID give it a thought when selecting planks but did not share those fundamental thoughts.
@getintowoodwork8 жыл бұрын
Thanks, there are some interesting points for me to consider here. I may film a few more videos for this channel at some point, and the grain direction considerations could be well worth covering. Thanks!
