Great video. I have a 12' x 20' Trex patio deck with the Transcend rails. It is very important to install the adjustable foot blocks that he demonstrated in this video. Adjustable foot blocks reinforce the rail and are required for every Trex composite rail section. If this step is not completed it will cause the railing to sag and doesn’t offer the structural durability needed for the railing system. I am dealing with this issue now. After a year and 7 months, two rail sections began to sag. I discovered the contractor only installed one section. Thankfully, I was able to purchase the adjustable foot blocks online and this video showed me how to remove the ballasters so that I can drill a hole in the bottom rails to install them.

We currently have this system on our deck from the previous owner. I want to cover that deck now. Is it possible (and recommended) to extend the height of the posts without dissembling the entire rail system ? Thank you.

what about the bottom of the post. when you screwed in the black mount it pulled towards you. Is the post now crooked? shouldn't you shim the bottom too? I am about to do this and worry about keeping post sleeves plum and true.

Had to come here as a contractor and as many of my contractor buddies DO NOT USE TREX RAILING!! It’s ok to use Trex decking but the rail/stair rail kits are crap. Get a BETTER system at Lowe’s called Dekorators. Really being they have the best application with covers for the application and covering screws.

I assume your rail system was designed a certain length in size and you installed the 4x4’s with this in mind while installing them. I’m guessing 6’ apart. What if you had an odd size like 3’? Would you just cut the railings to that particular length?
