My one-bag travel kit is VERY expensive because I travel for work so frequently so the investments make sense for me as business expenses, but for vacationers and occasional travelers, money is much better spent on the destination experiences so in this video, I put together a COMPLETE budget one-bag travel kit including clothes and accessories.
👉 A portion of this video is sponsored by TomToc - a great fit because I've been buying and using TomToc products for years, but ethically, you should know that I was paid to feature their Minimalist Sling and Passport Wallet. 👀

If you have the budget, even though this is a BUDGET travel kit, if there IS one place to splurge, consider the Compact Travel Hoodie by Unbound Merino. Just took the TomToc Backpack to Vietnam for a week, and it was perfect! It is very comfortable to travel with on my 5' 11'' and 250lb body. The only caveat would be the small depth of the cup pockets on the sides. If just a little deeper, it is the perfect travel backpack. And the side strap helps keeps it place for one side.

Excellent review of another great product. Because of Maurice Moves I bought a TomToc sling bag as my personal carry on. I have used it once on a short trip and will never travel without it again. The organization is excellent and it has extra space after I put all my necessary items and a couple extra items. I don't play video games, but I thought the Royal Order TomToc Medium size sling was beautiful and I had to have it. I think it is my favorite and most useful purchase of 2023. I finally bought the Tomtoc sling during Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale after watching your video on the 3 best sling bags many times over the last year. It was perfect during our last week just spent in Playa del Carmen! Wish this video came out earlier as I'd probably have bought the passport holder and travel pack as well. I don't need super expensive gear as I travel 2-3 times a year for vacation/quick getaways and 3-4 times for work, but i have been a big believer in merino wool for years and will continue to invest in it. Such a high quality production, thank you. Subscribed! The only thing I would add is about the hipbelt. For me this is a must, why? It isn't only about stability but more importantly, the hipbelt allows most of the weight to be carried on the hips rather than the shoulders. Makes the carrying experience so much more comfortable and safer on neck and shoulders.

I like Uniqlo’s long sleeve crewneck in their Heattech tee shirt and long sleeve crewneck line. Looks good as a not too bulky substitute for a sweater or fleece over a synthetic tee shirt (I like Patagonia Daily), and in a pinch it’s fine just by itself while my short sleeve collared shirt is drying after a sink washing. Good in Asian hotels where the thermostats seem to produce too much cold air no matter the setting.

This is a great video, a good find, and better than the one I bought to carry for a a 4week trip in Germany. I am a traveller and do need to be able to stop in a village and walk around for hours. This bag has no hip belt. It looks like it does have a chest strap though you didnt mention it. I saw no way to hide the straps if you have to check it in because the overheads are full. All these cons are worth mentioning. The only way you have your stuff where you are staying and not in the bag is the days that you stay 2 nights or more in the same place. In between, you carry your bag. I bought the $79 Rick Steves bag 9 years ago - so considerably more expensive than this bag - and as soon as I had to carry it for 3 hours, it was a terror and my shoulders were in pain - for days. But then every day after that I had to carry it and it hurt more. I was sorry I didnt spent $179 for the Osprey.

I didn’t bring a laptop so that feature was wasted, although it provided extra cushion for my back. I didn’t use the top small, passport pocket. Because the bag was going overhead quick access items that would go there instead went in my small bag that I kept on me in my seat.

Hard disagree to the "if there is one place to splurge, consider a Merino Hoodie" part. The advantages of merino are particularly noticeable in the next to skin layers. So if there IS one place to splurge, consider Merino T-Shirts, Socks, Underwear. Also i think a combo of a modern synthetic hiking midlayer + ultralight wind jacket is lighter and more versatile than a merino Hoodie. And nowadays, there are many options that don't scream "hiking clothes".

But…I’m lucky to get a vacation once every five years and my work travel is mostly driving in my state. Fun. And not exactly making me want to invest in the exquisitely curated kit you use. Today’s bag was a winner, I’m almost certainly getting one. But the load out was awesome, too. I already love Uniqlo undershirts and underpants, so why not just go all in? I got a tomtoc Vintpack TA1 a month ago, I think it is a nice backpack for college students or carrying on campus with a spacious main compartment, adequate laptop protection, and a wonderful look. Yes, tomtoc always does it well on the device protection.❤

You should have tried to see if it would fit in the personal item size. It might not fit really full but I wonder if it would fit if it wasn’t stuffed.

Just caught this video as im in the market for a travel backpack. I know there's a bit of a gap in the exchange rate between the USD and AUD, but just checked amazon and that backpack is currently AUD$256.87. At least it has free shipping

I wish they made this style of bag in more like a 25-28L range. I'm 5 ft 2, and a 40L bag is just too big for me.

I wish Belroy would add a zippered pocket to the back of their slings. As for this, I would like to see more pockets in the 'business' end of the bag.

Thank you for introducing this bag. I’ve always wanted something for a one-bag travel. I used to do it for years carrying a Deuter backpack (I forgot the model already) but I know it’s due for replacement based on the new bag technology out there (the bag itself weighs a lot relatively). The only consideration I have right now is that I just underwent multilevel spinal fusion and backpacks might be a no-no now 😢

Originally from the US but living in Belgium for over 4yrs now. My wife and I just counted out that we have been to 19 different countries this year, and a repeat of some of the same countries multiple times... If you are coming from the US, the Quart Zipper freeze bags that expand at the based are the only way to go for liquids. Everything must be in a clear bag, and to be fair, the ones at the airport are actually much smaller in size. The specialty bags are cool, but not really useful in EU. The freezer bags are also more durable and not single-use like the ones at the airport. The packing list is very small for this video, and almost unrealistic if you are traveling to EU unless its somewhere in the south that's warm and plenty of sun... In the north here, especially this time of the year, It can be done, but you do need to pack more long sleeve shirts, sweaters and insulation layers with winter temperatures. My recommendation is to use the 3-4 layer system (base layer or wash layer, insulated sweater, down jacket, rain jacket), but apply the same color schemes. A base layer, high efficient puffy and thin rain jacket can actually go quite far and sub freezing if you pick the correct base layers and the puffy is a high fill power down. If you're here in EU, the Decathlon Forcaz Trek 100 RDS down jacket is a killer deal sub-100€. A rain jacket is both wind and rain proof, and will protect the delicate down jacket, but also amplify it's warmth significantly! Personally, I pair this a Patagonia rain jacket, my Decathlon Trek 100 down jacket, fleece pull-over and a base layer from Uniqlo (their HeatTech stuff). Of course if you have more than one fleece pull-over, you're going to run out of room really quick with a 40L and anything more than 3 days. I am still a jeans guy, but to go with it, you really need to know where you're going with the shoes you choose. I was just in Prague at the beginning of December and it snowed for 5 straight days. My wife chose to bring her Adidas (superstars or another model?) and regretted it with all the ice and snow not to mention her socks were wet and her feet were cold every day so we had to make an emergency purchase of snow boots at an Intersport there. I brought my waterproof New Balance lower profile hiking boots, and just wore warmer wool insulated socks under. Plenty of grip, dry feet, and warm. I believe footwear selection is just as important as your packing system because that will be the first thing that comes in contact with the elements, so it needs to be correct. If I really try to be minimalist, I can usually get 5-7 days into a 22L with little issue..summer or spring/fall, and from there it could go further with a washing. It just is a bit of a challenge for me to do that (unless its on my own terms) because she requires me to carry flip flops to wear in the hotel and shower, a candle if the room is a little musty along with some other extras so it usually results in at least a 32L, and for winter....a 32L is practically minimum depending on the circumstances, and unfortunately, that means I have to pay for the bag/priority on RyanAir. :/

The only thing I don’t like about this backpack is the strap on the backside to fit on the handle of your carry on suitcase. It works but hate how it’s side loaded.

So Target has a travel brand called Open Story and the have a 35L bag very similar to this, also a 42L. The 35 is only $50 and seems to have everything this bag has as well.

@@neil_b4_zod The zippers on the Open Story backpack are solid, I’d recommend you go and check them out before basing an opinion on the zipper brand used. Peak makes a 30L backpack that’s $230 and doesn’t use YKK zippers, there are more quality zippers manufacturers out there other than YKK

I heavily considered this pack but turn off was lack of hip belt. 7kg for hours on your back and you'll wish you had pack with a hip belt.
