I love the visual parallel between the riddler and the Batman, two masked orphans with their own version of brutal justice, rambling thoughts in journals and spying using binoculars. It’s also part of what makes the interrogation scene so powerful showing us the classic antagonist line: ‘you and I are the same” in a much better way.

One thing I notice in the wing suit scene that people aren't talking about that is personally MY favorite moment is when he reaches the rooftop itself. The fear that came over him realizing how high up he was when he hesitated a little bit. I was like "FINALLY! The man showed a real, grounded fear that wasn't just overlooked."

What makes Batman save the people in the flood was after that riddler follower say that he was vengeance, it made him realize what it meant as he said that he was vengeance in the beginning of the movie. He did not really care about saving people's life and was mostly focus on being a vigilante. But that moment made him become a better batman by being a life saver and not just a vigilante out seeking vengeance only.

See, instead of being anxious for Bruce at the end, I 100% was convinced Selina was going to be shot point blank by the shotgun guy after she saved Batman. So glad she didn't but the entire time she's making sure he's ok I was so stressed out that she was about to die.

One thing about this movie I’m honestly surprised isn’t getting talked about is how Batman saved all those people in the stadium not just from the flood but from being murdered by mass shooting psychopaths. After seeing how this country has fallen victim to far too many mass shootings I found it extremely cathartic that someone like Batman not only stopped them but beat the absolute shit out of them.

I think the "thing" batman injected himself with is the same thing bane uses because if you look at it, when batman injects himself he gets rage induced loses it....I think bane somehow counteracts it to make it more dangerous... just my theory

FUN FACT The Riddler had deathtraps and played mind games in THE ANIMATED SERIES !! The animated series Riddler came out before SAW (jigsaw) & se7en !!! I would say for the "LOOK" they went for a more modern serial killer styled updated HUSH costume with a sprinkle of homage to zodiac killer ! Court of Owls will be a part of the 3rd movie cause Matt wants Mr. Freeze leading up to court of owls and Talons ! In comics Mr Freeze help court of owls keep their deadly assassin Talons cryogenic sleep /animated suspension (as cold is their weakness and makes them slow.... & that talons are like living dead who won't rot if put in cryogenic sleep). Talons later in future come after Mr.Freeze as Court of Owls see him as a major threat !!! But otherwise i would love to see characters like Mad Bomber& Grey Ghost, Proff. Pyg, Hugo Strange, Dr Death, Phantasm & Mr Bloom! Now Matt says Justice League charecter/ any dc charecter with powers won't make it in this one! It thats why they go with a fine line between grounded & sci fi. They will go for zombie like creature like Talons and Solomon Grundy & killer croc with skin problem but not Clayface, superman etc

In the books Riddler does figure out that batman is Bruce Wayne. He doesn't tell anyone because he figures what good is a riddle that everyone knows the answer to!? And in his warped mind the identity of batman is the greatest riddle of all. And you also need to remember that you're watching a comic book movie. Maybe the comic trope of a villain tease at the end wouldn't bother you so much.

Riddler is one of the few villains who knows Batman identity in comics.For him Batman Identity is a riddle and a riddle whose answer everyone knows doesn't remains riddle anymore.Its a weird logic introduced in Batman Hush.I think same for the Paul Dano's Riddler. One thing missed in breakdown, name of psychiatrist for Elliot is Crane which is Scarecrow

did anyone else notice the similarities between this movie and another film noir-inspired film? I'm talking about the Harrison Ford voice-over version of the BLADE RUNNER. Batman being Ford's character, Catwoman as His android lover, Gordon as the police chief, the Riddler being Rutger Hauer's character, the CEO being Falcone, and the incessant rain. also, did you notice that when Alfred gave Bruce Thomas Wayne's cufflinks when turned over, the W spells out"AA" ARKHAM ASYLUM!

That scene was set up just to show he’s willing to sacrifice everything for others. So it might seem over dramatic with the music and Catwoman and Gordon in that scene because we know Batman isn’t going to die but it worked for me.

The joker cameo was an easter egg to show that the war still rages on even after the events of the movie, its an easter egg to show that the joker already exists in this world but in an earlier form and to set up for a future appearance. But, Matt Reeves in an interview had already said he wouldn't be in the films as a main villian but in the interview said he could appear in a tv show that connects to his trilogy. Most likely, the Arkham tv show on HBO Max Discovery since batman 2 won't release until 2025, at the earliest according to Matt Reeves, DC films and Warner bros.

It felt so weird seeing the movie took place in span of few days but Batman and Catwoman were able to meet, fell in love and separate. Whenever movies do this it is brought up constantly, but I've not seen anyone mention it yet. Even Dark Knight Rises has had this complain about Batman and Catwoman and they knew each other way longer.

Besides, it's been proven that people in potentially adrenaline filled stressful situations do start to confuse emotions and attribute them love as a coping mechanism It is plausible for them to THINK they're in love after 7 days, but at the end of the day in a more grounded situation like the graveyard.. they do come to some sense and walk away without kissing each other

I felt the same way as achara did. When the Batman suddenly grabs the wire and falling in the pool, shows like he was about take his life away. I thought this because the Riddler once said he got inspired from Batman and especially the way of getting his vengeance through fight. So this tells us that the Batman is kind of feeling guilty on himself that how his symbol of hope has become a bad inspiration to the people. Hence, Batman wanted to end his life in order to stop being a bad inspiration and he couldn't control his anger towards a civilian in that scene. Once he had gone to help those people then I felt good and thought to myself that this doesn't end here 😂. Let's hope for the sequel with mighty villains waiting to be unleased to face the Batman. martha being in arkham makes sense in parallel to the justice league: flashpoint paradox, where bruce wayne dies and his father became batman of this timeline and mother becomes the joker, going batshit crazy after loosing her son

There's some interesting visual metaphors used through the film that reflect various states of mind or themes too, cages, keyholes for unlocked hidden knowledge, flocks of bat motifs in the carvings in the wayne apartment, chains, weaving vines...even compositions that mirror the blood splash left by the carpet tucker at the beginning, The Wayne logo looking particularly bat like was another. I think i also saw the initiate gang member as one of the police officers when Batman regains consciousness which has some interesting implications. Certain scenes had a neat ambiguity to them as well, like Batman possibly letting catwoman chase after Falcone, something about the way he was talking to her, "don't THROW your life away" and she throws/kicks kenzie off the building. it feels like batman is a bit more morally ambiguous, Machiavellian and arrogant than initially appears, paralleling the riddlers character further. I didn't think Batman would die, when i first saw this, the story arc felt like he'd have some kind of spiritual awakening and would therefore need a kind of sacrificial death to his old self (like the Matrix or fightclub even) for him to become enlightened...but the way the scene played out i felt the character didn't know if he'd survive which was impactful enough

I think it’s stupid to say he isn’t a detective in this movie because he makes errors and mistakes. That’s literally every detective. A detective rarely gets everything right. They go through different possibilities even the wrong ones to make it easier to narrowing it down. A great detective solves a crime regardless on how many mistakes he makes along the way.

Also, the other joker scene was taken out because it makes it look like Batman couldn't figure out the whole point of the movie without the Joker,s help in Arkham taking away his credibility and everything else he did in the film as a detective. lt makes sense that deleted scene was removed from the film.

While it is good that more TV series and programs like this one are showing African Americans, let us not forget that racism and hatred against certain groups is still acceptable and encouraged: e.g., against Hispanics (even if they appear white unless their ethnic identities are hidden) or people of Spanish ancestry, against Native Americans who do not appear white, and against Muslims that do not look European. That is why two brothers had different careers: Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estebez. The latter had fewer opportunities due to Hollywood's covert discrimination against Hispanics; the other effectively was not discriminated against because his stage name did not disclose his Hispanic heritage. That is why that Hispanic boy in Chicago was shot after he obviously dropped the gun that an older person had given him, and the police-murderer who killed him was not prosecuted at all. I bet this comment will also be suppressed by the racists at this allegedly not evil company.
