I love so much that Kristen does 3 episodes and doesn't over-edit the videos to the point where all of the context is missing. This show is so nostalgic for me.

BIG reason why I stopped watching most other reaction channels. Deliberately editing out all the essential plot and context on youtube for the sake of extracting monthly subscription payments on Patreon.

@@lars2894 I'm sure a lot of creators do that, but more often than not it's just bad editing or YT has F'd them in the past and blocked videos. YT seems to have no consistency when it comes to copywrite rules.

The "pro" musician is Chrissie Hynde, lead singer of The Pretenders (Don't Get Me Wrong, Brass In Pocket, Back On The Chain Gang...), and the chick that asks Joey/Chandler which adoption agency they used is Leah Thompson... actress known for Back to the Future, Howard the Duck, Some Kind of Wonderful, etc. Couple of fun little cameos in these early episodes that get more and more regular as the show and its popularity went on...

The woman who asks about the adoption agency is Lea Thompson, best known as Lorraine from Back to the Future. At the time She was starring on a NBC sitcom, Caroline in the City, which was also airing thursdays on NBC. The night this episode aired, NBC had set up crossover appearances between Friends and two other Thursday Night shows (Seinfeld did not participate). Leah appears here, as Caroline. Matthew Perry appeared on Caroline in the City as Chandler, and David Schwimmer showed up as Ross on a show called The Single Guy, which starred Jonathan Silverman, (the actor who played the Doctor who delivered Ben the year before.)
@Nikki-oe7gr3 күн бұрын
I loved "Caroline in the City." Decades later, I'm still mad at NBC for canceling it at the end of season 4 with a cliff hanger. The least they could've done was have a TV movie or extended episode to wrap up the Caroline and Richard story in a satisfying way.
@melcompton78663 күн бұрын
I'm so glad you left this comment about the crossovers because it's rare that a reactor recognizes Lea Thompson, but I haven't seen one who knew she had her own show alongside FRIENDS. I loved Caroline in the City and wished they could have squeezed one more season out of the studio. I remember that night of Must See TV crossovers being really fun.

Just a little clarification, Phoebe's husband couldn't have married a boyfriend if he had one. That episode was in 1995, and the first same-sex marriage wasn't until 2004 in Massachusetts. Five more states legalized same-sex marriage between 2012 and 2013, then the rest of the country got same-sex marriage in 2015 because of the US Supreme Court decision, which sadly, could be overturned since just yesterday there was a news story that Idaho Republicans are trying to get the US Supreme Court to overturn that 2015 ruling. Considering this court overturned Roe v Wade after 50 years, it could happen, unless Congress and the Senate make same-sex marriage legal by law, which seems unlikely with the current politicians in there for the next two years.
@t.j._fury3 күн бұрын
On one hand, I'm happy the 1st thought she had was that he wanted a divorce to marry his boyfriend; on the other hand, I'm a little sad that she doesn't realize that the right to marry for 'same sex' couples is *relatively* recent and wasn't just always a given.

I agree about the wasted tickets. Growing up poor, I understand Phoebe, Joey, and Rachel's position, but they could've said going forward, let's do less expensive stuff. Given that those tickets were bought either the day of the concert or the night before, they were probably bought from a scalper, because the concert would've otherwise been sold out, so Monica and Chandler probably paid a lot more money for them than they normally would have cost. At that time frame, concert tickets from the original seller were about $30 each, plus service charge, but from a scalper they could be $100 or more each.

I cry inside every time I go to a restaurant with friends. When I take someone to a restaurant, it's $20 to $30 AUD for food and a drink. When I go with friends, it's at least $70 each! At least. One look at the menu and the rest of the evening becomes this internal monologue of, "It's okay. Just enjoy yourself. It's okay. Just enjoy yourself. It's okay..." It's not okay.

I've decided Krisens' best reactions are when she is alone. I just came over here after "trying" to watch the Bourne Identity watch along and CinePals deleted/set to private in the middle of watching it because it was getting bombed in the comments. To be clear, they were valid upset people. I was gonna stop around 16 minutes because I couldn't take it anymore, but decided to keep trying. About 27 minutes, I just couldn't. She and someone else, a new person I think, just could not stop talking every second. Yes, commentary is the point, but I know everyone knows what I mean talking about. Full on conversations about entirely irrelevant things. They did so much, they even caught themselves doing it and even said they both should "get back to the movie." Mind you, it was early too, the first "real" fighting scene with the blonde guy that crashes through the apartment window in France after driving from the German bank getting the red bag. The two literally said, "but we should get back to the movie" and talking during that whole scene. Then something would happen "while talking" then ten minutes later, they would ask, "but why are they doing that?" When ten minutes earlier they were chatting through the "why." I am only saying this because it relates to this. Kristen does really REALLY great alone. She has a people pleaser personality. So, if one of her jokes lands, she will keep it going and repeat it reworded and keep going till it dies. Know what I mean. She looks over / side-eyes to her watch partner to make sure what she says lands. And she'll keep talking, and it is a snowball effect. When she is alone, her jokes land more often, are better, less frequent, doesn't keep them going, and doesn't talk through the entire movie, episodes. Her reactions are substantially more authentic and not trying "please" another. All positive. I know this starts off rough. But I mean this positively, as far as she is really great alone. Hopefully it is something she can work on for her doubles watch alongs. These are pretty perfect. They also make fun of their negative comments too. Another pretty weird reaction to their fans. But I know they see them. To be more clear, I like Kristen. But it is just too much sometimes with someone else and extremely frustrating. I can't believe they actually took off a watch along less than 24 hours after putting it up. I didn't think they did that sort of thing. But it makes sense. Gotta make it appear every release is a smash hit. Marketing 101. I've been watching and a fan of Reel Rejects for many many years. We should be able to support who we love with respectable criticism. I want to see them only grow. Wish they wouldn't make fun of their fans, trying to enlighten them about things. Although, to be fair, mostly the ones they make fun of are the blatant racists, and far-right extreme folks that leave extremely terrible things and warrant being made fun of. However, the thoughtful critiques often get mixed in with the deserving hate filled gross comments, and it simply isn't very fair IMO. In closing, I hope Kristen can observe her single watch along like this and maybe study more to try and bring over her reactions to the doubles. I think she would greatly benefit from it. I see majority positive reactions to these single ones than the others. As of writing this, Bourne Identity was originally right before Now You See me 2 and her most recent friend's reaction (this reaction here.) As of this writing, it is no longer there. It was funny. I was watching, and it just froze, I tried refreshing, and it said private from then on. If scrolling down just before it went private, you could see just countless replies from people like, "I couldn't finish this." "Just couldn't do this one." "What is the deal with this one." "Glad I read comments first so I didn't waste my time" "They would know what's going on if they actually watched the movie." "Critique at the end not warranted since they didn't watch the parts that set up what they were confused and complaining about." ...and so on. The comments were pretty close together in time frames, like seconds and minutes apart from each other. I think they get monitored for the first hour or so for this very purpose, but that's just my opinion, of course. Pretty crazy. Anyone else catch the Bourne Identity before it was set private? I've never seen that before.

The shows in season 1-5 are like a slow build! They get better as you go, for sure. Jennifer Aniston Matthey Perry (and to some degree Matt LeBlanc) are really beginning to inhabit these characters and their quirks. You start to see the writing emphasizing certain aspects of their characters - Chandler's neuroticism and lack of success in relationships, Rachel's being hung up on Ross etc. The Joey Storylines are usually just played purely for laughs around his lack of intellect and failed acting ambitions but usually he's portrayed as having a big heart and is genuinely a caring person, big horndog he may be.
