Something I find is really cool in this episode is the callback to another one of the writer's old shows- Supernatural where the shape shifters needed to "shed" their skin to shift into a new form and touch someone to do it (and keep their memories) And in it the original shapeshifter does go through a sort of inventory crisis in which they actually don't remember what they look like anymore. It's a really interesting episode to watch even on its own without knowing anything about the show.

Something I noticed is that Sage is pretty protective about Butcher and the Boys despite the fact that they shot him and A-Train isn't really a misinformation guide. If anything the Boys know exactly what the 7 is planning because of A Train's leads and Tek Knight a keystone is dead. And the whole "Butcher will be dead soon" , anyone who knows Butcher, knows that someone as crazy as him would not GAF about dying. Maybe I am looking too much into it but has she been double crossing Homelander in the long run ? ALSO WTF. Hughie got r**ped AGAIN.

This season was trying to show that The Deep wants respect and to be seen as more significant by being "Superior." So, in every interaction with people who are weaker or of equal strength to him, he wants to put them beneath him, but in a funny character way.

Sage left her Maeve notebook on the table on purpose, so I wonder what exactly she left there for them to 'find' or use or whatever. And The Deep was chosen to be part of the seven for a long time, so he'd of course have higher end strength and durability, even if his main "showy" thing is the ocean powers. I think it would have been weirder to like force a fight scene near water for some reason, rather than try to make an interesting fist fight with The Deep.
