Hi! in what part of the video you explain how to set up a custon input node and expose it so I can upload images though it when I take the sbsar dile into my other softwere? if not in this video, do you have one that explains that? thank you!

THANK YOU!, this appeared on my home page in the best moment, I'm creating a trimsheet with a lot of decals in text and numbers and when receiving feedback It took too long to adjust the font size for every node, this solves everything, and you are so good explaining things. So great! I always forget about the crop feature on the blend node too.😂 Thanks for the great video! Looks like such a good way to control parameters on multiple nodes at the same time.

Fantastic lesson! I love it. It would be very interesting if this kind of inputs could be related with the painted layers in Substance Painter.

Happy to help! Im not actually sure how Painter reacts to these input values? 🤔 I could certainly see it being useful if that functionality isn't there already.

@@GetLearnt Painter seems to treat input values just like any other exposed parameter.

@@drdunford Ah that would make sense! They are essentially exposed parameters anyways, just within the graph. Thx! :)

This is fantastic. This helped me so much. It helps me plan out my exposed values. But I have a question about functionality that may not exist. After you set up all of those input value nodes is it possible to just expose the input values. This would be so helpful. The problem that I have with some of the more complicated graphs that make is it can be really hard to track down where all my exposed value are linked up. Often time they are controlling more than one thing like you did in your examples. Backtracking all those connections is really hard. These input value nodes make it very easy to visually untangle a complex node system, and I would like to just expose them after getting them set up. Not sure if this is possible. Thank for the tutorial. It was very well explained and helped me rethink my production pipeline.

Happy you liked it! That's a really good question, I had to test myself to see. Unfortunately, at least with the version I am using it appears that you are not able to expose the Input Values directly. I'm not sure if this is functionality that may appear in newer versions (since I'm still using 2019). I wonder if there would be a way to access it through Function Graphs, but I'm truthfully unsure.

Hey Chunck. I'm new to this channel and I'm not sure if i noticed correctly, but I guess you haven't used substance painter once. Why?
@GetLearnt

Haha, because there's a million SP tutorials out there, I guess I've felt I don't have anything new to contribute. There's still really no SD videos tho, surprisingly, so I suppose I've felt like a better resource for that area (plus building materials is totally way cooler 😂). I'm thinking of looking into a lot more software going forward with the channel, namely open source and/or free tools. Doing some SP tutorials isn't out of the question at all, there's just so many videos out there already, it's pretty saturated. :)

@@sfafasasffaafss7414 SP is definitely a great software, and can highly recommend it! I find that SD offers a lot more control, at the price of being a little harder to pick up and use. I'm hoping you'll be able to incorporate some of these materials into your projects. :)

I think in terms of function operations, Blender's interface logic is stronger than that of Substance Designer. It is too fragmented. I still prefer to do operations directly in the graphical interface. Perhaps Substance Designer is doing this to make the entire node simpler?

Hey Chunck, is there a way to expose the input value itself?
@GetLearnt
@GetLearnt 7 ай бұрын
So just like an Input node creates a socket on a node when you add this graph into another graph, the Input Values will also create a socket on your node. You can then use an Input Value node in the master graph as an input for the socket on this node. In terms of actually exposing the Input Value variable itself and have it be a parameter in the node, I don't think you are able to do that. Ultimately what you would want to do in that instance is create a parameter for the node and use that parameter to override the variable on whatever node it is you want to control. That was a good question though, I had to do a little research myself to figure it out!

@@GetLearnt I tried opening an sbsar file with Substance Player and the Input Value node is available to be edited. So I guess it's automatically exposed? Same case with all the other input nodes (image, color). Thanks for answering man!
