Jimin said when his dad listen to this album he was upset and cried listening to this song. Another thing is that Jimin says these are feelings that he went through during the pandemic in chronological order and that he is better now. This song is sad.

The pandemic and the thought of not being able to perform on stage really hit him harder than anything. During the MOTS virtual concert he cried so hard that it was hard to watch, it was so painful to see and I can't watch that video without hurting because you could see and hear how much pain he was in and that must've only been the beginning for him. And that's where the feelings of loneliness, self doubt, questioning if this is what his life has come down to, etc. come in He has talked about how he took to drinking to help himself feel better, he stayed home everyday, drinking and distancing himself from friends and family and he said once the PTD concerts came up he realized that he needs to snap out of it. He was always questioning "why me?" Like "what am I doing with my life if not performing?" Performing is all he knows, all he WANTS to know and to see the one thing his whole world revolves around get taken from him so quickly must've really been hard I'm glad he's overcome that. I think finally being able to fly out of the country and perform for fans that he can actually look in the face and hear scream for him really helped him a lot. He already explained the emotions of the songs but he didn't much go in depth like I wish he did but this is what I think Face off- Anger. He was angry at the world for doing this to him, he was angry at the people around him for allowing the world to do this to him although he was aware that they couldn't do anything about it, he still felt like he needed to blame someone or something Like Crazy- Loneliness. This is when he started drinking to ease the pain. No he didn't go to clubs to drown his sorrows and sleep around (you'd be surprised that that's a theory), he said the mv isn't how the events took place, the mv is for aesthetic purposes. He started drinking and losing himself in that feeling of loneliness to the point where you can say he kind of enjoyed it because he had the feeling of alcohol to lean on to Alone- denial/acceptance/self-doubt. You can hear him telling himself that it's going to be alright then goes on to say lie lie lie. He said that he was always telling himself that everything with get better soon and that they'll be back on stage performing in no time just for that to not be true. Waking up and falling asleep drunk made him feel pathetic but he didn't know what else he could do because there was nothing else for him to do. He always questioned "why am I doing this?" and "what am I doing with my life?" things like that Set Me Free pt2- overcoming these feelings which I think that began happening once the PTD concerts started. He got back on stage, saw the fans faces, heard the fans screaming and although his spark dulled down a little it never died, his passion for music and performing will ALWAYS be there and that's probably pushed him into telling himself that he needs to get better not only for the fans but for himself Wow this is long I'm sorry lol I just love when Jimin opens up about this kind of stuff, he's only human, yk? Anyways, that is only my interpretation on the songs. We'll never know how he felt throughout those two years but I'm glad that he's much happier and content with himself and his career now

I feel what your saying. I know many people in my circle of family and friends who were hurting and got emotionally hurt during the Pandemic. We had the longest lockdown in the world, I can't say where for obvious reasons. In my circle two middle-aged women relatives died, family members and friends no longer talk to each other, jobs lossed, divorce and the list goes on. The Pandemic effected millions of people around the world. We were able to grieve privately but BTS had to do it publicly and genuinely feel concern and responsibility to Army's around the World. This is only my opinion. 0T7 FOREVER ❤️🩷🧡💛💚🤍🩵 💜

Thanks for bringing it all together. It is sad when you find out that your loved one went through these emotions. It is a relief knowing he was able to identify what is affecting him and being able to overcome these emotions or knowing how to cope. His strength is encouraging that we too can go through the process and come out better as long as we identify the trigger.

Jimin said he was worried to let us hear this song cos he didnt want us to worry about him. He said this was how he felt during the pandemic when they couldn’t go out n perform n their tours got cancelled. They couldn’t see army and it felts like his existence meant nothing cos his life is about performing and army. At first he kept telling himself he’s ok (u can see a hint of it in In the Soop) but in actual fact he wasn’t ok so he was lying to himself (hence the lie lie lie lie lie line). I think a lot of us saw n felt his pain esp during their first online concert MOTS:ONE where he sang out his raw pain n then he broke down in tears at the end. He wasn’t ok back then. But he said he’s all better now, which i really hope is true. We love you, Jiminie. 💜

❣️Like his song “Face-Off”, Jimin’s song, “Alone”, as well as the whole album, as Jimin has mentioned, is what he was trying to convey what he was going through, during pandemic, his emotions, thoughts, loneliness, despair, depression, that he hoped to share & have many able to relate to! Plus his voice is so beyond heavenly, stunningly beautiful, so eloquent, his ability to convey his feelings, emotions, what the lyrics are trying to say, his approach, the various tones that resonate, making you feel that much more what he’s feeling. What a phenomenal artist he is!

A sad melody with a beautiful voice. Jimin showed a lot of different ways of handling his voice than usual, and the overlapping sound effects created the different levels of emotions. I love this song so much, it makes me fall in love with the stories in it. Honestly, I love all the songs on the album, each song makes me sleepless listening to it over and over again and I want people to praise Jimin's music a lot.

that's really how he felt he said it himself. He tried to ignore the truth in ‘like crazy' said 'No, don't you wake me, I wanna stay in this dream, don't save me, don't you try to save me' but in ‘alone’ he was honest with himself and accepted what happened.

We definitely do my first reaction after listening to the song was crying for whole hour not believing that jimin felt this way while he came to us with a Bright smile in each of his vlive trying to cheer us up during the pandemic, the album is about facing every single emotion struggle he felt/had during that period of time, and there's a reason he put set me free as the last song in the album, he said in an interview that he realized that he should set himself free and no one will do it for him so to achieve that he has to fight all those struggles and emotions so he can come clean and set himself free, which we witness in set me free Pt.2 the ending of the album .by the way jimin said that his father felt really sad and started crying after he listened to the album cause he realized what kind of battle his son was in, during the pandemic. I guess face is the conclusion for a struggle era he had during that time and he closed it with set me free to start a new era wich we will witness in his next album.

For an artist, especially like Jimin who says that he comes alive when performing for army, even to the point where it’s seemingly validated his existence, and on top of that, having one of their biggest tours that they were just about to start in ear,y 2020, the MOTS:7 Tour being canceled last minute after working on it for so long, touring sold out stadiums all over the world all being cancelled last minute, thanks to the pandemic, really took a toll on pretty much all the BTS members. But Jimin even more so because of his apparent need to be performing, but in front of actual live audience of army as opposed to the online concerts they stared doing during pandemic. Another time when he as well as other members were also not doing so well in beginning of 2018, when there was thought of even disbanding, it was while watching an older performance from 2016 from one of their concerts, where army surprised them by singing back to BTS the song “Young Forever”, that hearing army sing, that gave him the hope and validation, that performing in front of army meant that much to him and gave him the meaning & reason to go on. When that song was sung surprising the members once again during the 2019 Speak Yourself tour at Wembley stadium, once again it reminded him of how much being around army meant to him, even to the point of validation, to the point where Jimin even had those words Young Forever tattooed one word on each backside upper arm. So to be denied performing continually for those couple of yrs, was quite hard on him. Many performing artists who weren’t able to perform anymore during pandemic also had difficult times as well. Jimin even wrote that hidden only on physical cd, thank you song to army, “The Letter”, because he felt the need & wanted to say just how much army helped him, showing so much love, supporting & believing in him during the pandemic. Also to let them know that even though BTS was going to take a break and be focusing on solo work instead, just how much army mattered, just how much army meant to Jimin.

I believed everyone in BTS gone through that emotion depression feelings during the pandemic. When you (BTS) fight for their dream from the beginning when they have nothing and all the sudden they have to cancel shows, concerts, etc…it is a very depressing situation. They gone though so many hardships and suffering and even maybe disbanding. The boys said it so many times that they don’t have any friends outside of BTS. They literally have each others. If they can’t perform anymore then what can they do?!!! It is a scary thing for them. Of course we will never understand their situation fully but in some ways it relates to a lot of us Army especially during the pandemic. This is very sad moment for BTS members for sure. He himself might have been effected the most.

Jimin said that when the pandemic hit, it was very difficult for all of them. They often (BTS) went to Jimin for a listening ear they would say because he was a good listener and he was very empathetic. He also told Jungkook that he drank because of his sorrow he felt for the troubles of his fellow BTS members. During Suga's interview he said that he was in a bad place but then he realized before the PtD Concert he realized he needed to change the things he was doing. So I think alone was what he was feeling during the pandemic when they had to cancel all those concerts and be alone for the first time in 8 years. I don't know if you watched the O:NE concert but he cried when he realized all those fans were not videos but live feed. He said he missed ARMY so much it was fantastic seeing them all live. I can imagine after years of having over thousands of fans around you all the time being alone (without the fans) must have been traumatizing even if you had your BTS members with you.

He said this is how he felt during the pandemic, not necessarily about the pandemic. He just had a lot of time to think and reflect on a lot of things and he realized a lot of things during thus time that made him angry (face off), lost (interlude dive), in denial and wishing he can fool himself everything is fine before all the realizations (like crazy), acceptance that everything changed now and nothing will be the same (alone), and finally deciding he should free himself from whatever issues it had been (set me free pt2)

Jimin assured us he doesn’t feel the way he did in the song anymore. I remember when he withdrew from us. He didn’t do a live for almost 1 year. When he did, it was completely out of the blue mid afternoon. He was on his way to dance practice. He said he couldn’t come see us basically in the frame of mind he was in. It was short, but he actually provided the date he would do a longer live. Since that long absence, he has been more shy and a bit awkward doing lives. He now completes projects during lives. Writing was his form of therapy and we got these very personal songs.

If you listen to like crazy, then alone makes sense. Try and view Like Crazy from a different perspective, presenting one side of yourself but in that way muddying up the other(your reflection). I don’t think it’s about another person at all. The song/ album centers on reflection, a reflection of yourself. If he’s talking about another person, sounds more like a passing fling to escape than a love. Face off sounded more like a breakup, which JM clarified as a friendship breakup( this is painful and can for sure send you in a negative spiral). Back to LC, you spend so much time as one persona the real you is mudded up. Then you drink, have fun but then wake up the other day with yourself and realize you’re lonely. And instead of dealing with it, you just want to be lost again, “lost in the lights”. Which, as with any issue, you ignore it, it grows. It could also signify the feeling of Jimin when he is presenting to be okay. In like Crazy MV he starts of sad, goes out and acts fine even happy, and ends the night in the same way but feeling dirty. From my perspective, who used to be a partyhead, there have been many times when I would be the life of the party, have bunch of friends and then look in the mirror and cry when I’m at home. Talk to my bf, finish the call then cry. Cry everyday actually. I admire Jimin for putting out this album to show sometimes the face of mental anguish is sometimes a smile, a laugh. He’s always comforting others but have stated it’s hard for him to lean on others for comfort himself. Maybe he isolated himself not sure. However, a positive way to look at this is that for him to put out a song to talk about these feelings, share it with a producer, share it with his family, his staff, his members, his FANS….highly likely means the phase has passed. It’s difficult to express your feelings when you’re in it like this. He said FACE is like a diary and I can relate. Maybe if I looked back into my diary in the pandemic it would have similar words. Edit: I hope this breaks the veil of constant happiness we, as fans, sometimes project. These guys live a difficult life, no two ways about it. Interview anyone who is at the top of their field, top athletes, top CEOS, top dancers, singers etc and if they’re being honest they will highlight that they go through mental turmoil time and time again. Talk to regular people, and if they’re being honest, will sometimes highlight times when their mind went dark. Acting like BTS is exempt is a bit too optimistic.

Lot of truth in what you say, and that is really what BTS does, shine lights on themselves to help us see beyond their beauty to what’s inside all of us just living our lives.

The label isn’t just a small group of hopefuls anymore, I’ll bet the success made so much need for growth that corporate culture invaded the family culture of the early, struggling years. True ARMYs just have to keep supporting them in whatever way protects them from the ugly greed of the music industry. We can’t know or prevent that stuff from going after them, we just have to remind them that they are truly forever BULLETPROOF. Btw, I’m 68 and gave up on the music industry long ago. Discovered BTS last year, when I really needed them, for real. I’d give any one of them a kidney if they needed it. They are that special. It’s the inner beauty that wins you.

What I think it means is that because of their celebrity status, he can't live a normal like and date, and hang out with friends outside of your circle. They are surrounded by love, but they also need that "personal" Love. A love that is just they can bond with. Everything they do is scrutinized. The management most likely don't want them to date because of fear of losing fans. We ARMY need to realize "we" can't have them. Let them find the love they need.

In Like Crazy, the video has Jimin out drinking and having a good time and then the bridge has him talking about wanting to ‘stay in this dream’. If you remember, Alone starts with an alarm going off so it’s essentially him ‘waking up’ from the dream and having to comeback to reality. I get why you might think it should come after the interlude but it definitely makes sense to come after Like Crazy!

I cried with this song, just to know he was going through this at some point but at the same time I truly appreciate the bravery and vulnerability he was able to openly show to ARMY. He poured himself out and exposed the rollercoaster of emotions he felt during pandemic. He acknowledged, digested and let it go to move on. That shows his level of emotional intelligence to understand himself. That's why his favorite song for this album is Set Me Free Part 2, and is at the end, closing this chapter of his life.

Jimin is a people person and gets restless when he’s not working so I’m sure that the forced solitude due to the pandemic really affected him. They also had to cancel the tour! He used to hate being alone and going from living 24/7 with other 7 people to being constantly alone must have been a difficult adjustment. Now he says he’s better at being by himself and also at ‘wasting time’ and relaxing. In a way this was good for him because he was able to overcome these feelings and grow as a person. This song is sad but I love it so much. He trusted us with such a vulnerable part of himself.

It’s always VERY important to listen to BTS albums from start to finish. They tell their story- the good, bad, ugly and beautiful. Even though he’s shy, Jimin (and Namjoon) are social, they need people. The pandemic was very hard on people like them. Drinking to try to “have a good time” to pretend like the pandemic wasn’t as difficult takes it’s toll. Like crazy was Jimin getting drunk and dreaming about going out like a “clichéd drama” -basically just being part of the world again. And yes, I think there’s a definite and deliberate tie in with his song lie.

As many have said, this was a personal album for Jimin, with the songs in order of what he was feeling, so I'll just mention that this song touched me. This was me during the pandemic. I was trapped in a small room for the bulk of it and just walked around in circles in the dark a lot of the nights, depressed and wondering how to go on. This is a beautiful song, deeply emotional, with intense lyrics. I'll also mention that this whole album was Jimin sharing a part of himself with his fans, showing his vulnerability, which is incredibly brave and strong of him given the hate and attacks he gets. I have always admired him for his hard work and dedication to his fans, but FACE has caused my admiration to grow by an order of magnitude.

This is what he went through during the pandemic, and he's gotten through it. Face does mean facing yourself. He has said that. Jimin is okay now. He talks about how he tried to drown the feelings out by drinking and escapism. It is personal, but it's what he already went through. He FACED it. YES it's all connected, and yes he was lying to himself and didn't realize how "NOT OKAY" he was. It is about the pandemic and what he went through. They were all devastated by their shows getting cancelled and everything on hold, they were scared and didn't know what the future would hold, they were stuck at home and had to make the best of it. I'm glad he faced the pain and walked through it. He's on the other side of it now. It was in Las Vegas in April 2022, that he confided in the guys and started the process of working on his album. This was much needed and he did amazing. I remember they talked about their progress of their solo projects during the FESTA dinner June 13, 2022. RM had said that JIMIN was working on his project, and RM was doing his also. We found out J-Hope was also working on his. They debuted their PROOF album before that dinner. They are all doing so much better after doing their solo projects. I look forward to V's and JK's next. But first, I'm going to the Agust D concert on May 16. ☺💜🔥

When you think that Jimin went to the other members in Vegas last year and admitted to them that he wasn't doing well. He was going through so much, using alcohol to deal and having these dark feelings and thoughts. I'm so glad he finally opened up to the members (who I think knew some of what was going on, based on the discussion between SUGA and Jimin when Jimin said the members didn't call him out on the alcohol and SUGA responded that people going through that don't really want to be called out...the inference being they have to realize it themselves). The members then suggested he write music to work through it all, and he did. This is the result...and I'm so glad he's doing better. (Also, this was very specific to the pandemic, which basically changed his chosen life and altered the parts of his career that he loves the most and was born to do - perform).

Jimin, and the rest of the guys, had a hard time during the pandemic.(Of course,we all did). Their world tour suddenly cancelled. SK lockdown/social distancing etc were one of the strictest in the world, and most successful. And instead of making their sadness public all 7 worked their ass off to keep ARMY entertained during lockdown. If you watch their e concerts, the pain is deep in their eyes as they perform their hearts out to an empty stadium. If you watch MOTS ON:E,Jimin cries so hard during his ending ments. Then they had the success of Dynamite and Butter, they worked non stop, always smiling. Jimin was in a bad way,but now he is glowing and happy so we can celebrate that.

I feel that Jimin is one of those lovely kind people who exists for and in relation to others but can really struggle when alone. They feed of the love they give and its reflection.

You’re right Alone is literally about him being alone and his feelings and actions during the pandemic. He has said to listen to the album in order and all in one go and it expresses his fears and feelings of self doubt, and when they finally got to do the PTD Concerts he had to give himself a wake up call and snap out of it - that’s what Set Me Free Pt 2 is about - His realization that he is the one to set his course for himself. So you’re right Alone is about being alone in the midst of all the chaos surrounding him. It’s a very sad and introspective song.

he said that this was during the pandemic...you know they were planning to do a lot during that time but everything got dismantled. bts did touch on their difficult time during corona. when they did the online concert on:e in their ending comment, jimin cried and talked about it, he really lives to perform and when that stopped he got lost. but now he's fine.

Jimin told Suga on Suchwita that he had been going through a very bad time, had fallen away from his and was drinking too much. He said the video Like Crazy (based on a movie) addresses that. Suga said he knew. Jimin said he got himself together before the PTD residency in Las Vegas. Covid was very hard on Jimin.

100 % this is personal about him, how he felt during the pandemic. The album isn't really about relationship loss. Although there was a friend that betrayed him. The songs are all connected. Honestly, based on what several of the members have said they feel alone more often than we would think (RM's Lonely touches on this as well) . They also have been hurt many times by so called friends that they have great difficulty trusting new people. This album is about facing himself (That is why it has a reflective cover, when you look at the album you see your reflection). Jimin did face himself and he has now set himself free form those feelings and emotions.

This entire album is his journey of what he experienced in his head during the pandemic. The feelings of isolation and being cut off from going on tour.

You guys are very perceptive ! All the album reflects his journey through pandemic and the feelings of self doubt, despair and feeling doubtful of his meaning in life. But he is better now. I think many people felt this way in a moment in life. Not necessarily due to pandemic time . We are all humans.

What you have to understand is that Jimin has endured hatred for the last 10 years and still does now - making fun of him - his size, saying he can’t sing and that he doesn’t belong in the group. If I endured that so publicly for 10 years, I might’ve been done in already! He’s so so strong and he’s doing the right thing talking about it. There were millions of people during the pandemic going through this - just different life circumstances - but he’s human; even celebrities suffer behind the scenes; money and fame aren’t everything! Like Crazy was also deep - about escapism from his troubles using alcohol…the ‘relationship problems’ in that song are more about how he views and struggles with himself. So, it fits right before Alone very well.

And also about pandemic, he love his fans so much, and he love performing on stage so that he can see his fans, and bcoz of pandemic he had to cancel his tour and concert which really affected him a lot, and when he came after pandemic and saw his fans he burst out in crying on stage 😭, he's too precious ❤

Jimin's whole existance is to perform and he found it very difficult not being able to perform during the covid era, maybe wondering if he would ever be able to perform again. I think he was depressed, and I hope that changed circumstances mean that he has recovered himself. I hope being in the army wont be so hard for him likewise (not performing).

I think it could also be connected to his song Lie because both song lyrics reflect his lying about his true feelings. Just like the lifting of him in Set me free is reminiscent of the lifting of him in Lie. I agree that it is all connected. And yes I react to these songs like you guys, it’s so deep and I am concerned and sad for Jimin that he had to go through this but also, glad that he as a way to express it and had Faced them.

In like crazy song he said it's nothing like breakup with his gf or else, he said when he was struggling, staying at home, wasting time and all but he was happy back then, which he really miss his starting days, and in alone athough we always fight for them on internet but the one who has to go through all is he alone, although there r 7 members but, jimin once said when he really needed them at that time they themselves was busy in dealing with their problem so at the end of the day it's him who deal with all the hate, criticism, mockery, if you are successful then ppl around u will try to pull u back, even if that's ur members, it's the bitter truth, bt all those things made him more stronger and his fan based r strong too and now when he faced himself too, he's now in peace ❤

When BTS was thinking of breaking up in 2018, Jimin decided his purpose was to entertain and make Army happy. When he couldn't perform during the pandemic I think he felt he lost his purpose.

I heard from a member of BTS said they often make a song about their real problems in life bit only after they already beaten/solved it Which is a great comfort and inspiring to army at same time 💜

Hypothetically speaking this is an accurate an honest depiction of the dark night of the soul! A gethsemane moment, a spiritual battle on the valley floor of the valley of the shadow. It’s more than a natural depression it’s a spiritual battle and killing giants are involved. He may not consciously understand the bigger picture but I know the carpenter is walking alongside. Remember also that the carpenter had to have others hammer in the nails- he couldn’t do it himself. Perhaps there is someone being forged in fire that we will yet see manifest and those that pray are faithful.

During the pandemic and also after jimin expressed how hard for him it was, especially for him to not be able to do his job. Jimin and people around him say he lives to perform on a stage, because of the pandemic he wasn't able to perform for a crowd for so long and it was very hard for him. So in a way i fell Jimin expressed this also in the lyrics of his song Alone, together with the feeling of solitude of being home by yourself not being able to go out and live your life as usual. Days merging together and becoming a blur. This song really expressed feelings i had but couldn't put into words. Also I would like to point out how the song in the album before Alone is Like Crazy that ends with "don't you wake me" he wants to stay in a fantasy but then Alone starts and the alarm goes off, he has to wake up to the reality :(

Like Crazy is about him trying to lose himself in drinking and partying, and Alone is the morning after when he realizes he's having a problem he can't solve on his own. The next song is Set Me Free, so there's the hopeful step forward. Jimin has said that when he gets upset, he drinks too much. He was drinking excessively during the pandemic, and that struggle is behind the song cycle that is Face.

I saw the understanding in your face abd I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt that. Though his bond with his BTS brothers is strong, I think when you are in the lime-light all the time and you are giving everything you have to your audience, it is draining, and maybe not as rewarding. And at the end of the day when you are alone, if you have no one to hold you, to confide in, to love you, all else doesn't fulfill you. I wondered why he wrote this song. It's so incredibly sad.
@never2old4this Жыл бұрын
No, I don't think you were reading it wrong. I think he was having a really hard time with being so isolated and alone and the whole album is how he was feeling, how he tried to deal with it in an unhealthy way (maybe drinking a bit too much), fantasizing about how he'd rather be out in the lights with people having fun but is stuck alone in his house (portrayed with the mud and stuff) dreaming of being elsewhere, to finally breaking free from all that and becoming ok again. Each song is related to the others and are done in the order of how things played out for him during this time....at least that's how I read it.

Face Off is the “break up song”. At least some type of breakup. On Suchwita Jimin said that came right before the pandemic. In Face Off he speaks of “living like a fool.” Suga asks Jimin if he was indeed living like a fool. Jimin responded “You would know.” The rest are feelings during the pandemic. (What a horrible time to go through a break up!) Like Crazy (the dance song) is what Jimin called a fun way to tell a sad story. As much as I love the multiple versions of Like Crazy I wish one had been the acoustic version. It hits differently in a lonely yet beautiful way.

Hey guys… Jimin said these were the feelings he was struggling with during the pandemic & he has processed the feelings & is past them… Think about what happened with BTS when the pandemic first broke out… it was a roller coaster for me as they’re a fan with tickets to several of their US Concerts… right before their first US Concert, everything got cancelled… No work as scheduled, couldn’t see ARMYs, couldn’t see friends and family as normal, everything came crashing down… regarding Jimin, he ABSOLUTELY LOVES PERFORMING in front of ARMY… That was taken away from him…. we all know how crappy it felt but most of us were still able to do our jobs to some extent. It’s harder on those that had everything stripped away like the boys… They were gearing up for seeing their fans, performing, working, traveling… Bright future now dark clouds were looming… It was so hard for them to be on that emotional roller coaster of “ are the concerts on?” “Are they now called off?” “When will we know?” “Ok, they’re ALL cancelled for the next year or more… what does that mean for us? For the business?” He did say that he’s over these feelings… But he faced them… Hence the name of the album
