I have only just recently started to do the cross stitch with the coloured printed on it it's really good but I am a cross stitcher who likes a blank canvas and the picture appears as you sew the colours and you watch the picture develop ❤

I love doing cross stitch but most of the time, I do counted cross stitch. Although an embroidery hoop or frame is not necessary, I still prefer to use a frame so that it helps keep the stitches even. The most tedious part of cross stitch for me is the backstitching.

I love cross stitch and I am two minutes into this video and already in fear because wowie, that's a HUGE pattern to start with for your first project! I've actually been working on a different (smaller) one from the company for a few months now and still am not done. I do agree that their kits are pretty nice!

It is not that bad i have done this before. All what you have to do is to watch out for the symbles and do one at a time.

If you are an avid crafter, often you'll have no trouble picking up a big kit of a craft you are new to. I just call it the gay/ADHD audacity to think I can make whatever I want despite having no previous experience in such craft.

I'm a crafter who does all sorts of crafts including cross stitch. The image you chose was the type i like and it reminded me of an embroidery I did as as girl. It had a lady in a crinoline/hooped skirt with a parasol, still remember it fondly. (I'm in my 80th. year) What did surprise me was the Kit and especially the fabric ready printed with the picture. I would never do one of these because it is too pre-set (almost like painting by numbers) . I really like the task of counting and finding the space for each stitch. I can see that these type of kits would be good for new cross stitchers though. Enjoyed watching you. Thank you.Craftyv.

I've been doing counted cross stitch for 40 years, with a couple of pieces in the *old* style of stamped cross stitch (where it's just X's printed on the cotton). I love this new style! I still have a giant counted cross stitch tapestry waiting to be finished, but might need to check these out.

Thanks for sharing! I'll be trying out cross stitch, but after we move this summer. If I like it, I'm gonna wanna buy a bunch of stuff & we have enough to pack as is! 😆 The picture reference guide looks just like diamond painting, which is one of the many hobbies I enjoy. I bookmarked their site to go back to after we've settled in. Thanks!

I normally start with 1 and then move on. I used to do it color based (I would do pretty colors first) but decided a few patterns ago to go with 1 and go through.

It's funny, I've done counted cross stitch since I was 12 or 13, and I don't think I'd be able to do a stamped kit that was that busy. My eyes would definitely get confused. And I don't know if it helps anyone understand, but cross stitch is a form of embroidery (which is essentially just making art on fabric with a needle and thread) but it's so specific in the way it makes a pixelated image that it's widely considered its own craft. It often uses other embroidery techniques like backstitching and french knots.

I was definitely getting a little cross-eyed on this one!

Same! I learned how to do counted cross stitch as a child and it’s all I know how to do. My mother in law got me a beautiful stamped cross stitch for Christmas last year and when I opened it up to do it, it was super busy like this one and I was so overwhelmed by it. I’m saving it for when I feel more brave! For now, I’ll stick to counting stitches ☺️

I do a lot of cross stitching but I prefer counted cross stitch because I don't think I've ever had a positive experience with printed patterns, though I think they were all from the same company so maybe not all hope is lost. While a hoop is not _necessary_ I really do prefer to use it, as it's just easier to stitch and the crosses turn out nicer. Also it's ususally a good idea to secure the edges of your canvas because aidas fray like crazy

I've had kinda mixed feelings about those colour printed canvas in the past because those that I've had were printed in colours very similar to the intended. I have a lot of trouble distinguishing similar shades, so I remember thinking many times that having the guide very different would be so helpful, and here it is! Been using patterns on blank canvas since but I might give these another shot if I find this kind haha.

The very different colors on the pattern confused me for a moment, but yeah, once I realized why they made it that way, it made total sense! Saves your eyes some aching for sure!

Don’t forget! Each X had a bottom stitch and a top stitch, and the directions of these shouldn’t change! If you stitch / first then back over it. This helps your eyes see the picture as a whole, not as stitches. :)

Hello there. :-) Just want to say thank you for the video you made and i learned a lot. I just bought a big set like this and there it say it is 11CT 3 strand.. this is my very first time i try this and i got a bit confused.. does this mean that i should use 3 strands of thread? . Wish you all the best and i will subscribe you and click on the bell.. have so much to learn.. hehe :-)
@gettheetothestitchery Жыл бұрын
Hello and welcome! As far as I know, that does mean to use 3 strands, so you would split your floss in half before stitching. Best of luck!

As someone who did counted cross-stitch for many years, I do not like that printed cloth -- it obscures where you've already stitched and is an unnecessary (and highly confusing) gimmick. Especially when it comes with a pattern anyway. Just get normal Aida and count.

And some people do like the printed Aida

It's good for people who do cross stitch while watching tv or something, since you don't have to look at a pattern constantly. I also prefer counted but I understand the appeal of stamped. Though the fabric is usually oddly textured and I get what you mean about obscuring the stiches.
