I love the low recoiling .204. I kill a lot of squirrels with them so buying a lot of powder and bullets in bulk to keep the price down helps. 32gr Zmax 500 count boxes and 34gr Dog towns in 500 count boxes. They booth shoot real good. 8lb kegs of Ram Shot Xterminator. I bought large amounts back in 2010 and just about emptied the 8lb keg and have loaded all the bullets. About a 1,000 rounds a year. I have used 6 different .204 rifles over the years I like the Ruger MK II's. You have to glass bed them and change the triggers but they work good after that.

I bought a Savage model 12 single shot in .204 years ago on sale, meaning to rebarrel it to .223. After watching this channel, I dug it out, bought some Redding dies and am going to finally shoot that puppy -- after a dozen years.

Call me crazy, but I've noticed when switching between brands of bullets ot takes a shot or two for the barrel to get used to the new load. May have something to do with the type of copper getting left in the barrel, maybe?? It's probably not it but worth tracking in the future.
@cavedweller19593 жыл бұрын
I believe your a whole lot more right than wrong. I think maybe more with powder than copper. You really want to see it, go play with a 22 LR with a 1/2 doz. different brands.

I use serra bullets and they group better than that

Your bench work changes across that rest which threw that first shot out. Also the balance Changes. You can see the barrel dip because you have too much weight forward. Throw that rest away. I would bet that rifle will shoot about twice as good with the same load.

Love my Cooper .204. Had a Weaver straight 36X Target scope on it but my friends just couldn't find the dog in the field of view so I mounted a Sightron 8-32X variable. Have yet to zero it in.

Good to see a bloke enjoying a great hobby. I am a satisfied 204 owner as well. I mainly shoot foxes and bunnies here in Australia. I use the 40 grain Hornady Vmax projectiles and they work very well in my model 25 Savage.

you probably have already done, but do a short Reloading video. what dies you use, trimmer, if you crimp or not and why, im new to it and use collet rifle dies, since brass is fire formed to my rifle, and do not crimp, just curious bc you get great groups with ur rifles and if you seat just off the lands or not, thanks

Have you noticed any bore/accuracy issues by using suppressors??? For example: bore requires more cleaning, flyers or less accuracy, group bigger?
@cavedweller19593 жыл бұрын
None of the above. Best thing to have for dog town shooting.

@@cavedweller1959 I tend to agree, quieter is better hunting "p" dogs. I mostly use 17 HMR, but 200yds is about the outer limit for that caliber.....
