15~ years in IT and it's time to change careers. Thanks a bunch for this video man, it's given a lot of additional insight on top of what I had already researched. Appreciate it :) With any luck there'll be some chippies here in Brissie looking for a mature age apprentice haha

Love your videos man! I'm 20 years old, 2nd year in Uni and about to drop out to start a carpentry apprenticeship. I'm also from Sydney as well so pretty cool that I came across your channel. If you were to give advice to your younger self starting your carpentry apprenticeship, what would it be?

Hey Mate. Thanks for watching my vids and excellent work making a decision to get a trade. My advice would be dont worry about the money and just learn as much as you can.

I was employed by the Master Builders Association in 1980 under the first group apprenticeship scheme, They hired us out to any builders for either a couple of days or years. gave a great breadth of experience, housing one day, commercial the next, formwork , framing, roofing, partitions and many others, Great experience. Now Im 57 and teach Cert 3 in carpentry to international students. Its been on zoom which is quite difficult to get the concepts through. I have just found your video, (covering eaves tonight) they are awesome real world experiences, You are a very good tradie and are re affirming everything I tell them about finally getting to site. THANK YOU. Maybe think about putting together a group of these and selling them to the many commercial colleges starting up. Its better than alot of the crap they give us to use,

Im 20 turning 21 soon and don’t have any experience in carpentry. Do you know how I could get an apprenticeship?

I’m 22 going to 23. Literately today I went to an orientation for an apprentice program located here in San Diego CA. What I personally did was research apprentice programs near my area (San Diego) was mine. Called and they gave me info if any in person orientations were being offered at the moment due to COVID. Luckily the one I went to today was in person. Called another union although the information given was only through the phone at the moment.

Just do some basic research & you will have to find some type of info or telephone numbers where they can offer more brief info or even go to a building they hold orientations for.
