GETTING A PHILIPPINE LICENSE, PLATES AND DOCUMENTS | ISLAND LIFE

Today we went to the Philippine LTO. This is what they call the traffic police or traffic police here. Boris passed the medical and we tried to change his Russian international driver's license to a local Philippine one, but they refused. It is not possible to obtain a local license on its basis, and in general it is valid here for only 3 months from the date of entry into the country. Then we made and paid for the translation of a regular Russian driver's license at the Russian embassy in Manila and on the basis I was able to get a Philippine driver's license. After 3 months, we finally received the registration documents for our motorcycle. The documents were sent to us by email and the license plate number of our two-wheeler was indicated there. You need to make the number yourself. Usually it is made in workshops where street advertising is made. We also talked about how you can wash a motorcycle or car very cheaply here in the Philippines.

You should not be bowing to the whims and caprices of the government. Their seevices are not efficient and convenient in serving the people. @totoybancaso2599 You couldn't dictate the LTO office of what desired processing and convenience wished from any applicants to get.The LTO have SOP rules,and that rules should be obey to any applicants,before doing such complain.You can't teach them about their job bcoz that's unprofessional.If you want easy transaction without any stress then go to the fixers and spend huge money.But that's illegal way.If someone caught of doing such wrongful act then liable for any consequences that can affect the application void.Follow the given prescribed procedure of any LTO gov't agencies,and that's the best thing to do.I did all my legal documents of my cars legally without the contention of LTO rules or even fixers,even how hard it is.But I did?You can't learn things when the complained is always above the obedience. If you don't even try making any transactions in the LTO, then I understand that you lack of information.

Congratulations on gettng a new license. Even if you had to go back several times. It's good when you submittes your documents and paid, you were able to get your license right away. Some only gets the receipt and take time to get the actual license. Keep.safe and enjoy your travels.

Same process wherever you go, even here in LTO manila..If can come early and reach the 1st 200, you can finish it in halfday, otherwise you have to comeback nextday…Ph govt really need a lot of improvement, specially online transactions..

Darlin, hindi na kailangan ng husband mo kumuha ng classes. All he needs is to take the exam ng LTO. Get the exam in their website. He already knows how to drive. Translate mo lang ang questions sa exams and let him answer. Ikaw nalang ang sumagot sa clphone. You can translate the questions to him and pasagot mo sa kanya. Since he already knows how to drive, for sure alam nya ang ibang sagot or majority ng sagot. Ganyan ang ginawa namin mag pa replace ng int'l driver's license namin. One day lang, nakuha namin ang aming drvrs license. Nasa website ng LTO ang exam. After passing, copy the passing point and show it to them sa LTO. Actually, alam na sa LTO na pumasa ka, dahil nasa computer na nila ang result Makikita nila sa website na pumasa na ang husband mo sa driver's license exam. Pero pag tinanong, sabihin mo rin na he already took the exam online and he passed. Don mo ipakita ang confirmation na pumasa sya. Madali lang ipa replace ang international drvs license to Phil license. Wag na kaho mag classes.

Look for a license plate case, it's clear plastic and it will protect your license plate from dirt, water, and from peeling off when you pressure wash your bike. Just go to a motorcycle parts store or repair shop that sells parts and ask for this license plate case or protector. Good luck!

Its ok to get mad if processing takes too long and takes forever, when it comes to processing Philippines is low tech . In the US you have to pass a written test, driving test visual test and they probably check for any background check.

Thats what I tell all the guys - for up to 90 days, even your foreign drivers license is sufficient if it has english labeling too.. and afterwards you need a certified translation of the foreign drivers license.. no need to make an international drivers licence, you wont need it, if Philippines is your destination. Alternative is, go to driving school. As most dont have a proper motorcycle license from their home country, a translation will reveal that. So I did translation of my driving license and made the motorcycle license for >50km/h bikes in the Philippines. Was the cheapest combination for me

When I tried to get my land title,they said it would take 21 days but there was no line so I showed my dissatisfaction. I asked to speak to the supervisor. Indirectly, I was getting the signal that they are not getting paid enough but I stood my ground. In a week they changed their mind and gave me the document I needed to get my final document. My niece told me that I acted like I know powerful people. I didn’t, I just demanded to be served normally. One tactic they have is the display stacks of papers very high to present the have lots of documents to process but they don’t match the lack of people in the lobby.

We need a medical bc it identifies us physically and also show we are fit to drive a vehicle. That is why we can also us a drivers licence as an ID. Never get upset about waiting. I had to wait then come back the next day at the Russian embassy in London, same thing happened at UK embassy Kazakhstan. Just be patient.

The government can not afford to create an infrastructure to make plates for cars and motorcycles. That was a challenge during the previous administration. It makes sense to email registration number, and have the owners print them on plates.

1) The last 35 years : Ph population has doubled; the # of people who could afford a vehicle has more than doubled. The solution is to at least double the # of LTOs. (need to at least double the total of classrooms too in school) 2) stream line the process like they do in Thailand & the West = well, good luck if this step will ever happen. International drivers licenses are only good for 90 days in the Philippines. That is Philippine law. It didn’t matter if your Russian license expires 3 years from your arrival date. You should have applied for a Phil Drivers license before the 90 days expired.

That is not bureaucracy. That is Philippine law on international drivers licenses. This is true in most countries. If you go to Russia and drive using your Philippine drivers license, you only have 90 days to use your Philippine license.
