Welcome to my first KZbin Video!
My name is Robert- I am a predental student and will be attending the University of Pacific Dugoni School of Dentistry in the of summer 2021! I wanted to kick off my channel with my reaction when I first heard about my acceptance to the program. In this video, you will briefly hear about my path to dental school starting from the night of my interview to my acceptance call. I had so much fun making this video and am looking forward to making more videos documenting my dental experience, providing helpful pre-dental tips, and sharing with you everyone my passions and life experiences!

My interview was also on March 30th, and I prepared the exact way you did haha I honestly had so little hope of getting in because I also thought the class was full but I JUST got my acceptance yesterday!!!!!! I was searching through KZbin videos about the Dugoni school and came across yours. UOP is also my dream school! I'm looking forward to meeting you and our future classmates in person!

Hey man congrats on your dream school acceptance!! If I may also ask since you got accepted to TEMP college of dentistry, did you attended the in-person opened house event they do after interviewing you? What I'm asking is basically if not going to that event affects chances of getting into the dental school? Thanks!

Thanks for the comment! I did get an interviewing with Temple and I did attend the open house event. At the time of my interview, everything was on zoom so I did not attend it in person. I would attend it if you are close or if its a convenience for you-because they give you a tour of the school and you get to speak with some current students about their experience. I'm not sure if it effects your chances of getting into the dental school. I'm sure it only helps your chances of getting since you might get to meet the dean or speak with admissions rep. They are always on the lookout for students that align with the school.

Such a great opportunity to meet people but is too far xD. Maybe if they allow for a virtual open house event I'll go for sure

Would you mind saying how much time you spent on the questionnaire? Did you reply to the email itself? When if yes? What strategy did you use to respond to the questionnaire?

Hey Amy! I'd say I spent quite some time working and drafting each response for the questionnaire. I would write a long paragraph and then narrow it down to two- three sentences since I recall there was a small word limit. I didn't want to take long to respond but also did not want to compromise the quality of the questionnaire. Overall, I believe I took 3 days to submit the response. I believe the school sends you a link to submit your responses, it was not through email. I remember drafting my responses through google docs and then uploading to the link they sent me. The strategy I used (depending on the question) was to reach out the dental students at UOP, read more into the school's mission and values, and design experiences that I feel best aligned with the school. One advice I would suggest is to not always try to fit into the schools values, rather see how your values aligns with the schools. This will make you stand out a bit more :)

Please what are the resources you used to prepare for the DAT?

I have mainly used DAT bootcamp and Kaplan, however, that being said I would check out other newer DAT study platforms like DAT booster as well. During the time when I took it, the test was undergoing on changes and the DAT bootcamp was a bit slower on updating the those changes to accurately reflect what is on the exam. I would consider finding a digital platform which you feel comfortable and would offer you the best study aids for you. Just keep in mind what worked for me may not work well for you!
