What a great tip. I never would have thought of doing that to get the last bit of paint out, just to get out paint that has dried in the tube. I've always just used a tube wringer to squeeze as much out as possible, cutting up the tube would get that last little bit out. Thanks for sharing!

Well, I didn't see THAT coming! I assumed you had a tip for just squeezing the rest out. This is ingenious! Especially for those rather expensive paints... I love being frugal whenever possible (and then I don't feel QUITE so bad when I spend money on more supplies!). Now I need to go watch that other video you referenced......thanks, Liz!

Great tip Liz! I don’t believe that I have ever seen a jam jar like that! It is so teeny weeny! Great idea and I will just have to be on the lookout and see if I can get the last lil’ bit from these tubes! Thanks!

Cafes tend to use them over here with scones and jam! Not only delicious, but useful 😆

I love those little jars, I have used them to store paint from a leaking tube. They are also good for storing small beads and buttons and look pretty lined up.

What an ingenious idea! It should have been an obvious technique, given that watercolour paint by definition is water-soluble, but I've never heard of it before. Once the paint is dissolved in water, you can let the water dry away, at which point you have a 'pan' watercolour. I will definitely be trying this. I don't have any little jam jars, but (at least here in Canada) dollar stores often carry small glass or plastic jars that should work well.

Does the paint become susceptible to mold when you add water to it? Would it have a longer shelf life if you added gum Arabic instead? Maybe the paint in the cap and neck is the real problem-maybe soaking the tube in some warm water before cutting it open might work without having to cut the whole tube open 🤔. Don’t you love the challenge of problem solving that comes with art? 😉

yes - artistes need to think laterally! never had a mold problem. Too much gum Arabic causes tge paint to crack when in use

That's a hat I found. I hate wasting paint. Especially since those tubes cost $10.00 -$32.00. I paid for all the paint, so I want to use it all.
