No idea why I'm watching a video about Japanese electrician license, but I'm all for it

This is exactly the type of video that i was searching for. Thank you. I have been learning Japanese and i am currently an electrician in Hawaii. I can't wait to try and work a summer or 2 in Japan.

I can't really remember how I learned electrial work, I think I mostly picked it up through osmosis from reading, watching my Dad, leaflets at trade shows, and things. I only got my C&G in my 20s because in my computing work every now and then there was a problem where I'd say "oh, the wiring is loose, I'll just rewire this..." but people would panic "we're not insured!!!!"

@@TheTampopoShow Can I ask you if you two have got visas over there, and if so, what type? I've been told it's practically impossible to get a Japanese visa if you don't have a degree

@@TheTampopoShow I see! Thanks for the reply. I did hear highly skilled worker visas can be obtained if you have around 10 years experience, but in my case it would actually be slightly quicker for me to get a degree 🤣

Thanks for this video. I'm starting to learn Japanese to eventually retire to Japan, get my Electrical Licence ( currently in Australia) and rewire my home.I do a far amount of fire alarm systems and my favourite quick ringbark cable is to use a Cat 5/6 tool to score the outer sheathing thing snap it off.

Buddy, do you think UK or Australia Qualification can be recognised in Japan?
@UnimportantAcc5 ай бұрын
@@koonholee3056 From what I have heard, it's a no. We need to take their exams - but let's be honest, if we're working to a high standard in our countries, I can't see it being too hard to pass the Japanese equivalent!

Is there any way to be effective there if you are a well experienced journeyman but can’t speak the language?

I’ve never worked as an electrician here but I know people who do. People do work as electricians without qualification and with little Japanese. The hard part would be getting a visa.

Do you require any Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems & Equipment or something similar prior to doing this exam? Thank you for the help! Very informative video!

Thank you for preparing this useful video. I was interested in your comment that there seems to be no outside inspection of electrical work - which begs the question why would you need to gain an electrician's certificate , apart from the obvious issue of avoiding faulty wiring with its consequential loss of life, limb or property. I recently bought a new build house in Kanagawa and want to add some extra lights and outlets, as an electronics engineer I beleive I understand all of electrical safety issues involved in the work and would rather do this work myself, mainly because I enjoy such activities. The exisiting wiring looks a mess, it's all point to point with zero cable management, so I would much rather do this work myself ... my main concern is how my additions may affect insurance, or invalidate the 10-year house warranty. Needless to say, my Japanese wife is less than excited by the idea of any sort of DIY ! Would be interested to hear your opinion.

I think you answered your own question: insurance. Well, and it’s illegal. I was an EE as well, the only thing I did that wasn’t up to code was install track lighting facing upwards. However what EEs know and what electricians know is pretty different. If you asked an EE to wire a 3-way switch they might be stumped. Re: the wife problem, if you have a license maybe she’ll let you make those additions😂.

Does anything come translated?
@TheTampopoShowАй бұрын
I don’t believe it does. It’s in Japanese that being said JLPT N3 would be sufficient. It’s a limited topic and you can expect what will be written in the questions. You can also use Google Translate camera mode to auto translate the text book when studying. Of course, you can’t do that during the actual test.

Would this be sufficient for working as an electrician in japan or do you also need the second level as well?
@TheTampopoShow6 ай бұрын
Sufficient if you’re working for someone. You need a few years of experience or a first class license to run your own business afaik.

does the test are in hiragana and katakana or all kanji?
@TheTampopoShow Жыл бұрын
It’s in normal Japanese so yes lots of Kanji, but the number of kanji you need to know isn’t so many. Plus numbers are numbers and that part is easy.
