Hey ❤ I am native Hawaiian born and raised on Oahu. I just want to say I love you two and apologize for the hate you received. I never knew any of that happened but I do know Hawaiians are very protective of our culture, language, and land- as we should be. Not only was the land forcefully taken by illegal treaty- but Hawaiians were BANNED from speaking Hawaiian, dancing hula, or any cultural practice for that matter during that time. Imperialistic views were forced, and they were punished for not abiding. I speak Hawaiian. The language is so special to us because our entire culture is tied to the ‘ōlelo (language). We have only oral history passed down for generations. I see the reasons why Hawaiians are so protective- but hate is never the answer! The people who threatened you and called you names could stand to practice ALOHA during that time, and teach/show love and education instead of hate. Anyway I love you guys and have for a long time! ❤❤

@@danaceyambao this is not an apology video. This is them sharing their point of view from what happened at that time and expressing how clueless they were. They’ve apologized many times. People make mistakes and they grow to learn. I seen a lot of this taking place back then and almost all of it was NOT locals giving the threats and backlash. I’m all for standing up for others.. but the things is this is social media. people see one person spreading the hate and then they blow it completely out of proportion taking it way too far because they’re behind a screen and want to feel involved before understanding the full situation.

@@danaceyambaoit sounds like from what I know is that Hawaii is a beautiful place and I see what you are explaining about the culture. 7 minutes in... I'm a native Hawaiian. As soon as you mentioned moving to Hawaii... I about died. I already know where this is leading 😞 I'll come back to comment after I watch this video 🙏🏽 14 minutes in .. I just want to scream. I apologize for all of the small minded people who make Hawaii a terrible place to live .. and not only for haole ppl, but for locals as well. God bless you, Matt and Abby.. And little Griffin.. AND! ❣️🙏🏽 ☺️ edit: ALOHA lives within you. ANYONE can use this word and honestly, when non locals use it, I love it. This video made me sob. I am so embarrassed and truly heartbroken for Hawaii. I was there in '21 on an extended stay due to COVID. I've seen some of the KZbinrs I follow (you know them 🙏🏽) around. They are beautiful ppl inside and out. To hear ppl saying GO BACK, etc... They have NO aloha and I do not support this attitude. I am fortunate to have beautiful local friends. We would all love you guys❤️🙏🏽 EDIT 3/20/23: Thank you, Anita, Laura, Val, Melanie, Natasha, Sarah and Raven🙏🏽❣️ Hawaii/Hawai'i.. is really special place. Magical. GreatGrandTutu is rolling in her grave over the mistreatment of anyone, local or tourist... Or transplant. Those born and raised there, who have been there over a half a century.. wow, even I choked at that🤣... They ALL have had a good talking to over their lack of aloha at some point in their lives. They were spiritual people, the elders. Sooooo wise and generous. Always welcoming... Unless you were trouble.. And then ANYBODY'S Tutu "going sit you down" 😬 Teach you humility with love🙏🏽❤️ 😔 Unfortunately, many popular tourist destinations will have your share of crime. Locals don't go to certain places at night or alone, either. You learn to place your valuables in your car trunk especially at beaches, etc... Like anywhere, an ounce of precaution goes a long way. Matt and Abby gave such a beautiful explanation of their experience by squeezing themselves into the shoes of... Those who were in need of enlightenment. They took their mindset and responded in the most humblest of ways. Truly honorable people you two are... And to continue to speak fondly of Hawai'i makes me hopeful that anyone who's experienced negativity will continue to see the beauty around it. God blessed you with your life partner. May he continue to bless your life wherever it takes you. Much aloha and God bless you all 🙏🏽❤️🤙🏽🙏🏽

I’m happy that you spoke up for the people in Hawaii who are not so judgmental toward visitors who may not be as educated as they should be. So yes, using your self harm to gain sympathy from your followers when you should be taking accountability for your own actions is manipulative. I am sorry that the situation impacted her that much AND they’ve still yet to acknowledge how much they impacted Hawaii however, we are supposed to feel bad about that, and forget about what they did- if you cannot see how this is wrong I don’t know what to say. I can be empathetic that this impacted her mental health, and simultaneously acknowledge that it shouldn’t have been the focus of the video and frankly shouldn’t have been mentioned alongside this conversation. Abby, don't feel over dramatic or bad for having fear and strong emotions about this experience. What you're experiencing is called trauma response. You guys are so brave to share the details of your story. Trauma can happen anytime, anywhere. Like you were saying, it literally changes your brain chemistry. Being in a similar location or situation can trigger those same emotions. It's the same brain processes that happen when someone has ptsd. I've been discovering all this myself the last year with my trauma. Your experiences are hard and they matter just as much as anyone else's.

Anyone who actually follows your videos consistently knows that you guys are not mean people. I’m so sorry that Hawaii was ruined for you. And I’m also sorry for Matt being canceled because like I said before, anyone who watches your videos know that Matt is such a good dad. Abby you are a fantastic mother. It is clearly shown in the videos how much you both do for griffin. Edit: The best surprises for me is when my husband picks up the house and does little things for me. Of course I do enjoy big surprises like taking me out to eat or buying me something. But the ones that show me that he loves me the most are the little things

I am native Hawaiian and heard about this. I am fair in skin color and was told by so many other Polynesians growing up (who were not native Hawaiian themselves) to go back to the mainland. It was so weird to me as a child and teenager. I live on the mainland now and it is honestly refreshing in a lot of ways. The racism out there is very prevalent by so many people and it is ridiculous

And this is why I don’t have Instagram, Facebook, tick tock etc. so much hate in this world that’s not needed and can truly hurt someone emotionally. And my kids won’t be on any platforms either until they are adults. I love how open you guys are and are able to explain how scary it can be to be on social media. counselor here. 🙋🏽‍♀️ Abby: what you went through was traumatic and you deserve to label it as such without having to justify. Most people will not have to go through something like this. I heard you say (when you were talking about why you want Griffin not on socials) that you were an adult and you couldn’t handle it, but you did handle it. And not only did you handle it, everything you & Matt did as a result of this happening was thoughtful, gracious, and in alignment with your character. It makes a whole lot of sense why this would still make you emotional. I hope with time and healing this feels even more okay. ❤️
@shelbeydeegan2666
@shelbeydeegan2666 Жыл бұрын
I just want to add a little more as well: feeling emotional about this isn’t dramatic at all, because these kinds of events (while they may not change our character or view of ourselves) can change our worldview & or ideas about the world. I can see you still have so much positivity because that’s just you guys, but having an event like this occurs shows us what others can be capable of when they have hatred or anger (which is really just fear) in their hearts. Which leads the impact of such events to make such a lasting impression!!

If this is traumatic then what is Ukraine going through? They did this to themselves for fame and money and just like all youtubers they are in it for them.And if you followers think other wise 😂This world and the people in it are so messed up.

This is the danger of social media. The lack of really knowing a person's motives. Unfortunately, there are some content creators who abuse the public by living a life that does not include honesty. I am a new subscriber, and I am sorry you both had to go through this. I'm so inspired to comment on this video because I feel like Matt & Abby are finally breaking a wall down in their honesty and transparency. I feel like you guys may have been really scared to tell your loyal followers about these instances, maybe out of fear more people would jump on the cancellation train... I had no idea any of this even happened, but truly I appreciate you for coming clean about what happened so we can understand the emotional toll it's taken on you. I did see Matt's KZbin Short about taking care of griffin and praising you... I thought nothing of it, even the hook really didn't rub me the wrong way. I think it's because we can truly see Matt's character in your videos and shorts and your dedicated followers will always know the real you! I totally support you guys and everything you do and I aspire to have a relationship like this in my future. I've been so convinced since I started following them that they are a compassionate and loving Christian couple, but I can understand why they wouldn't come out and openly say they're Christian. Hey Abby! PTSD and trauma can happen not only from actual threats, but can also manifest from perceived threats! This is why threatening words can actually feel important and heavy sometimes. Maybe someone didn’t “mean it,” were never intending on acting out these words, or nothing ever actually happened in person, but the perceived danger can feel just as heavy sometimes. I hope this helps💕

Matt and Abby I just want to say you guys are amazing! You guys never fail to make my day! I watched you YT video about you guys getting cancelled and I am so sorry that that happened to you guys. You guys don't deserve that one bit, I know I can't change the past but just know that you guys never fail to make people myself included to feel better. I am praying that it is smooth sailing for you guys from here on out. And for Abby to have an safe and easy pregnancy. Love you guys keep doing what your doing!

I'm only midway through but I appreciate your honesty and transparency so much. I think you guys are both super brave and I can't imagine going through what you have and still having the courage to be as positive and transparent as you are. Thank you doesn't do y'all justice!❤️❤️❤️

Small surprises are the life blood of marriage. My hubby empties the dishwasher most days before leaving for work and I feel so grateful for it everytime I open up the dishwasher and don't have to empty it myself.

I am so terribly sorry that all of this happened to y'all. I praise y'all for getting through all of that and still being able to create content. I love y'alls videos and enjoy watching them. I think that it is awesome how much y'all love each other and how y'all are always there for each other. I think there is nothing wrong with the dynamic and roles that y'all have. Y'all shouldn't have to apologize for that and I am sorry that y'all were put in that position. Thank you so much for y'alls amazing, uplifting videos. Just keep up the good work and thank you.

I respect you 2 for embracing and promoting Hawaii's language and culture, I am Maori from New Zealand and absolutely love non-Maori speaking our language, it should be shared by all, racism surfaces on both sides and it's very disappointing. Sharing is caring!

I wish here in Australia that our indigenous had the general respect that Māoris in NZ have. We have a lot to learn from New Zealand. ❤

@@Poopiepies I didn't get the impression from the vlog they were profiting off the merch, normalising it in everyday conversation, NZ has achieved that and continues to this day.
