Dreads on straight hair is beautiful too! They literally look dope on any hair texture. I don’t get the hate and this is coming from a black girl with dreds aka “locs”. They belong to anyone who can do them, period!

I think wt people mix is the way they act after like a stereotypical type way like be extra like example im in the Caribbean in Trinidad and i saw a asian dude who twisted it to make it nappy and the next day he got the shiz beaten out of him cuz he said nigga 😭 that was the extra part people don't like.

Kitty Moon if you check out @hippy_hair_dreadlocks on Instagram, she keeps a list of prestigious locticians world wide 🥰 there’s also plenty of ways to get dreadlocks, easiest is to literally just not brush you hair. Over time the hair will knot up and after a while longer they’ll form dreads, this method is known as freeforming! There’s the option of synthetic braid in locs as well if you’re wanting to experiment with different colors, length and thicknesses, they aren’t permanent and can be worn for 3-5 weeks at a time before removing, but you can just braid them right back in again. (I make sets of those so I’ve done an embarrassing amount of research 😅) if you like you can email me literally any question at all about dreads and I can help you out at asiagthomas99@gmail.com ❤️❤️

I'm 53, female and instead of turning gray my hair has turned white platinum, weird I know. I've had Dreadlocks over the years from working in the woods and either getting tree sap in my hair or just not brushing it but they were very different sizes shapes etc. Now I'm looking for a stylist to do what you guys have done here but it's a lot more difficult than I thought it'd be. I've got many different cultures in my blood from Native American, Czechoslovakian, and a very strong possibility of African American due to my mothers ancestors coming over in the 1700s and family rumors. It's really awesome to see these extraordinarily BEAUTIFUL African American women going natural and I hope we can all share our cultures (and hairstyles) peacefully. I only want my getting Dreadlocks to be seen for what it is, a huge compliment to a beautiful way to wear hair. Thanks for the video, maybe do some Dreadlocks on older people too for us to see.

I'm glad to see that this lifestyle is spreading so lovingly but could you please stop calling them dreadlocks. Please look up the word "dread" and determine whether or not you want that to be associated with your hair. We call them Locs because there is nothing dreadful about them...
@polishboy55 жыл бұрын
Dread and dreadlock are 2 completely different words and meanings! The first is the obvious,the 2nd means being natural,social,spiritual and strong ( having no fear) many countries,cultures and religions,celts,vikings etc are all documented as far back as 230 BCA earliest being India,and the most Modern 1930’s is the Rastafarian’s..documented as spiritual,non violent,non fearing ,social gathering culture!!.....locs is actually the term of how a dreadlock is formed! By using a comb and hook ( locking ie,so it doesn’t loosen)...

@sophie wilde Blacks straighten and color their hair due to the standard being straight caucasian hair. Society saw and still sees natural black hair as unkempt and unprofessional in its natural state. The example you gave isn't even remotely the same. Smh Where i live a young black boy was expelled from his elementary school because he wore his hair in its natural state. It was far from unkempt This is this year that this is happening. Please don't use the example of black people trying to appropriate a culture they were forced into and are now brainwashed into maintaining to fit in. Smh

@LaurenFleck4 жыл бұрын
Mmm this may be because the hair could still be damp in the centre of the dread which can cause mould to grow which in turn can let off a smell, maybe do a really deep apple cider vinegar cleanse one day over a inflatable head bath and get someone to help you. and once you've done a few rinses wash it and then try not wash it for about two weeks to test out the smell. I hope this helps 🙏🏼🤍✨

Please explain. Every indigenous culture has had Dreadlocks from Native American to Scotland and everywhere in between. What is it that bothers you so much? What about people with curly hair straightening it or dying different colors etc? Appropriation is taking something that belongs to someone else without permission and hairstyles ain't that.

@@Bettinasisrg what we’re not gonna do is over look the fact that white supremacy ideals are the literal framework of western civilization. As Black women, we assimilated so you know....we wouldn’t die. We get ridiculed for actually loving our hair and culture....but when other races do it it’s a trendy cool style. The solution: acknowledge the truth and do whatever the fuck you wanna do. But does it really make you happy or do you just wanna be as cool as us ? ✨💙 Gn

Dreadlocks are very unhealthy Think before you get them and if you are going to get dreadlocks have somebody with experience do it for you so you don’t damage your hair ( well you will tho...)

Why do you need someone to support you? Don't be silly - if you want dreads then get them done, you're not a child are you? If you like them, away you go and do it. Stop relying on others to validate your creativity or opinions, I expect to see that you are going to get it done - you only need yourself to do it and a person to do it....let us know when you plan to go ahead and do it!!

You don't need support. You are your own person. If you want dreads, do it. Woman up, dude.

Fuck the support from others! Do what you want, when you want! You’re the only true support you’ll have through out your life, from birth to death you’ll have yourself💜
