I never put in a bid in early on Ebay. The trick is what I have a lot of luck on and that is to use Gixen. You can set-up the last min. of the auction in so many seconds at the end and within your max bid through Gixen can help not jack-up the bid the last min. It's not 100% that it always work but it works more than doing it the old way. Also,I buy estates only and if you can do basic cleaning(restoring)you can get an old quality pipe (using basic sanding reaming and polishing) for peanuts on the dollar. You are right about estate pipes and what to look for. There are sights online that show you how and what to use for restoring pipes. You don't need to be a pro but use common knowledge .Thanks for your pointers and I thought I'd throw my two cents in what has worked for me.

Great video. I'm also not afraid to buy a so called rough pipe, meaning, it just needs a good reading and cleaning, wich I do myself.

Great video! I have found great pipes at estate sales and I have invested in a few tools and cleaning supplies that save the expense of sending the pipes out for refurbishing. It can be a dirty job, but I enjoy bringing them back to life. Cheers David, and keep up with the videos. I'm a fairly new subscriber and have been enjoying going back through all of your postings.

Great video. I always look at the seller's other items to determine if they are pro sellers or not.

Looking for the .eu website you mentioned in your video for researching pipe maker's marks. Could you share that here? Thanks!

Hello David, Very informative video. I have bought several pipes on Ebay over the years. Some very positive transactions, others not so much. I guess I made the most mistakes when I was new to Ebay. I always set a budget and would not go over... no matter what! I got much better at looking carefully at the description as well as images.
