I'm an Atheist, my kids are Atheists, and we all get together for family dinners. I grew up a conservative Christian. I worked at a Christian camp every summer from 14 years old through 23. I graduated from a Christian College. I attended Seminary. I can tell you that there's no difference between my family experience for the first 37 years of my life when I was a Christian and my family life now. I think it's easy for people to believe that their way of life is superior, and that the superiority is because of their values and beliefs. And it's easy to beileve that because people don't tend to socialize with and spend time with people who have very different viewpoints, but the truth is that most people have similar vaues when it comes to the fundementals of life. The problem is that many people confuse their beliefs about the life choices of others with fundemental values.

I like that comment about the 60 year old woman 'it's your first time living too'. Maybe not that old, but when your children 'leave the nest' you will be 'living for the first time too'; especially since you had your children so young. I had twin daughters just before I turned 22 so when they turned 18 I was 40. I enjoyed my children immensely, but, I now had a whole other life to live with my husband. It was wonderful at a fairly young age!

Baby boomer here. I honestly think my parent's generation started the downhill slide when they rejected the traditional family being important. I was raised by a free spirited, divorced mother who meant well. She didn't set me up for very solid relationships as an adult however. I am also divorced and now looking back I see what I was lacking. I talk to my children all the time about the importance of traditional family values. I think they are understanding it better than I did.

I am a baby boomer too. I had a really young mom. We are 17 years apart in age. She never sat me down to explain anything to me. I had to learn on my own. I saw her divorce my dad, get remarried. That wasn't the best but they have stayed together for 58 years, but I didn't want to get married. I did finally but I was in my 50's. I didn't want what she settled for.

That was the start of “ I don’t need a man” generation and in the 1980’s it was the start of “ gentle parenting” from the experts who have all retracted their garbage articles where the 1990’s babies were being raised through and now we have the third wave of this with “ affirming” children’s and adults dilutions of how they feel is realty everyone must accept. We need the current younger generations to have it hard for awhile to bring them back to earth and what really matters.

I agree with you completely. I am 67 and I care more about the history of our country and the affects of what feminism of the 60's did to the family structure. I think our parents who were born in the late 30's came out of the depression in an economy that started to boom and with that let slide an interest in what was happening in our government, and society in general. They were enjoying the good years which in turn has created the bad years again as in what we are seeing today

He has been on TV his whole life with millions of people watching his painful breakdowns and problems. I think the choice of your allowing your children to choose what you show of their life when they are old enough to make those decisions and making safe, wise decisions for them in their younger lives has been well thought out. No one deserves to live their lives on camera unless it has been their choice. Love ❤️

I’m 37 and I recently dated someone 9 years my junior, he was so sweet, loyal and compassionate. Very in touch with his feelings and tried hard to be as supportive as possible. He was thoughtful and very attractive. But he was TERRIFIED with that fact that I sleep next to a firearm. He was so afraid of ever touching it or the thought of ever needing to use it. If someone ever broke into the house I knew it was going to have to be me that protected us. I ended the relationship. I don’t care how sweet and loyal of a man you are, if you are too afraid to learn how to use a firearm and protect your family you are worthless as a man. A woman need a protector first and foremost! Once those roles are flipped I think the relationship is doomed to fail.

@Melissa, THANK YOU!! I am a homeschool Mom and I have also chosen different ways and subjects for each of my children, depending on who they are, their strengths and weaknesses, the amount of time I spend with different topics and I have at times felt like I was cheating my kids. I NEEDED to hear it's ok to spend extra time or move a little faster if they really get it or do away with things that are ridiculous. My kiddos were all very preemie, they have overcome so much and are excelling but there are certain things, especially with my oldest, he still gets overstimulated and overwhelmed and it causes him to struggle. Then he becomes UNmotivated to try. So I have had to learn different ways to do things with him. He is smart as a whip, but, he would never do well in a blanket learning, that everyone do this in this amount of time, if he was finished early expecting him to sit and wait quietly, girl Please, that is SO not happening and I would be called to the school and if he wasn't done and had to stop because it was time to move on, he would feel defeated and frustrated and like he isn't as smart as others. I struggled with that in school and it's affected me and my self esteem greatly, to this day. I don't want to do that to him. Or any of my children. So, THANK YOU for your reassurance and sharing it's ok to teach our kids how it works for them. I appreciate you!

Now that he is a freshman in public high school, I have seen him demonstrate that having a solid foundation in faith and values makes him so much more mature. This has provided an advantage in spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and social aspects. On the topic on male archetypes, there are more than alpha (especially the toxic alpha) and beta male types. Sigma is more rare but it describe the strong independent silent type that think for themselves and do Not go with the flow.

I was born in 1952 and am so glad I grew up in that era. That time may have been the last moment where society had a simplicity that still valued the core principal’s of honesty, personal responsibility and decorum. Social media and media with the emphasis on opinions and instead of facts is really where I saw the most change. No longer is there the trusted news anchor. That stability has been lost. It’s like the Wild West with anything passing as fact. There has always been a segment of people that took things to the extremes. It’s just in your face now. So it’s hard to get away from. I also very much agree that World history is so important. You cannot really know who you are and where you should go unless you know where we’ve been. Getting all points of views is also important. You folks have done a wonderful job. Never doubt that❤👍

As a baby boomer with a 12 year old and a soon to be 21 year old, I ensured my kids had morals and values and were taught right from wrong and how to carry themselves. I also told them to let me know if certain things were being pushed in school or by their teachers cause I wasn't going to sit there with my hands tied. Certain things don't belong in schools, if it's not English, Math, science, social studies, writing/reading, then it doesn't belong. Teachers should keep their beliefs to themselves and they should be required to be non-bias just like lawyers and judges.

Baby Boomer here, aged 75. :O I believe I grew up in the best of times and we had the best music. We played outside and enjoyed time with our friends, and nature. I was raised in church from a very young age, and even as "a child of the 60s" I never did drugs or drank alcohol. (Pretty unusual for that generation). I've noticed something with the younger generations that concerns me. They say, "I feel.." instead of "I think or I believe." When did that start and why? Good podcast!

I'm so glad to here that there are people just like me. I love solitude also. When I was a teenager I loved being at home alone. I go to family gatherings sometimes but the smaller the gathering the better for me! I love your podcast and you have a precious family you are blessed ❤

Great podcast! I personally think that you both have done an amazing job with your family! Nevaeh is an amazing young lady with a very insightful head on her shoulders! You both should be proud as I'm sure you are! I'm gen X and grew up in a very traditional conservative family and very thankful for it. I feel like an old soul myself 90% of the time. Hope you all have a wonderful week! Also I'm subscribed to Nevaeh's channel and will be looking forward to her next video!

I believe every generation has its issues...Learning to assess the world and community around them and then decide what falls into your personal life plan including morals...❤

I am a 60's baby, and I was not a hippy and we knew of no hippies. I do not think you know how abusive our parents were. So so many of us got the belt very often. It was always, " what happens in our house, stays in our house". We were afraid of our parents and stayed very quiet. So, I think many of us, went the other way too much. Of course, I never touched my kids in anger but when I look back, I covered for my kids knowing they were in he wrong. You guys are so responsible, and I love the way you parent. I wish I had been the same way but so many of your generation are selfish and entitled. Nevaeh's generation gives me hope.

Just a compliment. Your daughter has her head screwed on extremely tight and straight. That is a testament to your parenting abilities. Your family is not weird. We have had the same conversations with our 19 year old son. Congratulations on raising a great daughter!

Jeremy, never lose that strong, Papa Bear or Bull spirit bond with your 1st born. Tell her every day how much you love her. It'll be important in the future. ❤

Pointing fingers and blaming others is the problem. We all are responsible for ourselves and our actions. We should only hold ourselves accountable.

We are raising our 3 boys the same as you are. My 17 year old has expressed concern he won't ever find a partner because of all the indoctrination in schools....resulting in a not so high caliper of dating pool. This conversation gave me hope for them to find someone! ❤

When you spend so much time thinking about and doing your own projects solitude is a cherished reward. As you get older you want more of it and the social aspects of your youth becomes less important.

I agree that keeping your children out of most videos. Then also little bits are nice to see. You have been very good at keeping it perfect. Families doing things together is very important in my family. I do see that now that my parents are both gone and by sisters children are older and have their own families and live in different cities it's harder yet we still try as often as we can. Your daughter is so intelligent. Melissa you have done a fabulous job home schooling your children you can see that home schooling they learn so much more than public school. This was so fun. Melissa I love your personality you are amazing. My children and grandchildren still do family times with us and it's so wonderful that we still have that. ♥️ Thank you for this video it's been really nice to see that children do grow up and we need to show them how to start this chapter. ♥️🙏

In my daughters schools they stopped teaching them to write in cursive, how to read a clock, how to write a check and keep a checkbook and send a letter. There are more things, these are the ones I've remembered at the top of my head. I'm totally amazed at this and can hardly think of the words to properly express what I really mean about this and if I tried it would take too long lol.

Gotta tell you, some of the looks that Melissa made at Nevaeh were a sight to behold! Nevaeh will grow up as time passes. She has a great base to start with thanks to great parenting. Just wait until she has a family of her own. Then she will understand why she was raised the way she has been. Be well Souza family! God Bless!
