This treadmill is genius. It exercises the body through walking, disassembly, and cleaning. Additionally exercises the mind by making sure you learn what you forgot and thinking how to make other equipment work that is affected by static electricity or indirectly touching. The designer thought so thoroughly about it that they even made it look like these intentional functions were unintentional.

The problem with checking amazon reviews for excersise equipment is that the VAST majority of them are written by people who want to get in shape, use them twice, write a review saying how great it is and then it never comes out of the closet again, so the review doesnt take into account how it holds up to regular use. Ive bought equipment in the past with great reviews that did work great...for about 3 workouts

It's the same with other product too. I bought a stereo with pretty good reviews to replace the one in my project car and its face plate was too wide for the dashboard covering to be put back in. I had to trim the sides to get it to fit and while it does do the job properly, the dimensions that were written were the ones that should have fir properly. This isnt my only experience with a product sucking, my sister got a trimmer and it didn't work, it had no effect on me too on my arms with thin hair. I now return to my old reviews every once in a while to update them since i trust those reviews more and I don't want other people also getting screwed. I also every now and then get emails from sellers offering to send me products for free in exchange for 5 star reviews and these products are always overpriced like an umbrella that cost more than 100 dollars so I look at reviews carefully now.

Also another problem with most similar companies (amazon, ebay, aliexpress, etc.) is that most products change so fast that the company or product will disappear and be replaced by new one (usually exactly the same just rebranded) before it gets old enough for any problems to appear.

On a serious note, this video inspired me to buy a similar treadmill for my home office as I already own a standing desk. 2 weeks ago this video came out and 2 weeks ago I bought my compact treadmill. On average, I walk over 5 miles a day at about15K steps and already my pants are starting to feel loose. I already own a full Treadmill, but at best I would use it 3 times a week for 30 min at a time. Having this compact treadmill at my standing desk while I work, play video games, and watch videos changed my life. I can walk at a 2.4MPH pace and forget that I am walking. Hours later I feel tired and realize I have thousands of steps and burned a few hundred calories.

I used to service treadmills for Sears Canada, and what most people don't know, is that there are two types of belt lube. One is silicone based, and the other is wax based.... If you mix the two of them together, it thickens and causes a LOT of friction... I have seen so many burnt out motors and circuit boards because of this. This was a long time ago, but Nordic Track is an example of a treadmill that uses a wax based lube while Horizon uses silicone based lube. Treadmills come with lube on them, so you need to make that you are using the correct one. Not doing so will at best, make a less and a little extra heat, and at worst, ruin your belt, motor and motor controller.

Years ago I was servicing a Sorvall RC-3B centrifuge (it's the size of a washing machine) that runs on 240VAC. I learned the hard way that the breaker on the machine only disconnects neutral. The motor brushes still have live 240 ready to kick your ass. I learned a lot that day.

💥 This is super awesome! I've a walkingpad treadmill and was experiencing 1. the electrostatic shocks and 2. the display off-on issues, too. After having many an issue with tumbler motors and inline fans, I've found the problem usually starts with cheap bearings that go out, and sometimes some silicone lubricant will fix the shaft bearings. Other times, it's a matter of replacing the bad bearing before the motor DOES burn out.

This video is a good reminder that physical activity is important. You don't have to dedicate your life to sports and you don't have to work to become buff. But some form of workout is required for improving one's health. The trick I found is to incorporate the activity into the daily routine. I shower before bed, so I went on a walk around the neighborhood before shower. That way, every time I felt like I just want to shower and go to bed, I made it so I want to walk, shower and go to bed. Mehdi made it part of his work routine. As soon as you put things into your routine, they're much easier to maintain.

Thank you for this video. I have a standing desk for 10 years now and I never use it for standing only sitting. I was thinking to get a treadmill too, but I was too lazy to compare 100 treadmills to get the best / longest lasting one. Your video keept me motivated to buy an eletrical treadmill. BTW I did some digging and if you have the money or the time you should investigate the premium mechanical treadmills (without electricity) - for example: AssaultRunner Pro. They are completely silent, no maintenance required and cost 2000 to 6000 € - or something like 200 € if you build it yourself. There are some examples that work for standing desks too. I do not have the skill or budget now to get a mechanical treadmill yet - but maybe in a couple of years.

All of my free treadmills were better than your Amazon one. All of them had a thermocouple of some sort in line with one of the motor leads. Maybe try marketplace. Excellent video, as usual. I believe the reason why the PCB switched the neutral instead of the live wire is that in many parts of the world, house wiring is not polarized. For instance, here in Austria, you can plug the wires in either way, so the live and neutral wires aren't consistently on the same side. In most houses, there isn't a standard for always placing the live wire on the same side of the receptacle; in fact, in many older houses, the wiring to the socket is connected randomly. Except ground, obviously.

In China typically black is neutral and red is hot. In my experience they usually do manage to hook the switch to the hot wire, but you should always check, or don't trust it when it's plugged in especially if your house has questionable wiring.

@@Owen_loves_Butters yes it is. It is also safer. Go and plug something in behind a couch, or TV stand. Or that fact if I'm troubleshooting I leave the thing plugged in. I also don't need to pull the plug to isolate it if something goes wrong, or if I want to cut the power while I'm away. Once you have to plug it in back in, its easier. Fucking wild to think pulling a plug and having to put it back is easier than flipping a little switch.

@@PBMS123 It is not safer in the slightest, and is barely if at all easier. It's nothing more than a minuscule convenience factor, and probably would safe a few seconds over an entire lifetime. It takes practically zero effort to simply grab and pull. Oh, and for the record, we do have switched outlets, we just put the switch in a place where it isn't completely redundant. What's really wild is you being so smug over your pointless switches, when if you wanted to criticize the North American electrical system, there's many actual things to criticize that matter, like the fact that our plugs have zero safety and extension cords that cannot carry a circuit's full capacity are not required to have a fuse or breaker.

I can leave things plugged in but turned off, which is convenient, and safe. . I can turn of all the plugs in my house when going away on holiday for a long period. The switch isolates the outlet, which means sticky fingers are not going to get shocked by an empty outlet - and for NA which does not mandate, and it appears manufacturers don't do anyway, is have insulated plug blades/tines. Everywhere else in the world plugs are insulated at the base so small fingers won't electrocute themselves by touching the blades of a plug that is half out of the socket, where it is in contact with the electrical contacts and so is live, and said person's little fingers are touching them. I didn't point out the huge number of other things wrong with the NA electrical standards because I wasn't commenting on that. But there are plenty. NA outlets, brand new ones look like they're straight out of the 50s. Exposed metal. Exposed energised metal wire connections etc. A switch adds extra safety by de-energising the outlet and anything plugged in without having to pull the cord out. The fact you can't see that it adds safety and convenience and crucially removes nothing, is mind boggling.

The live contacts are buried within the receptacle, and can't be touched directly by human fingers. Your criticism of our plugs is 100% valid, but it has nothing to do with switches. "Exposed metal" Any exposed metal must be grounded. If a live wire touches it the breaker will trip. "The switch adds extra safety by de-energizing" Which you can also do by UNPLUGGING THE THING. You have to reach for the socket anyway to flip that switch, and taking a plug out of an outlet is literally just as easy as hitting a switch. Switches on outlets are nothing other than a mild convenience at best.

Here in Australia our mains wiring is brown and blue, we have a little saying for remembering the wire colour code. The brown it live cuz that's the colour your pants will go if you touch it. Nice and easy to remember.
