Getting into DCS and starting strong with NEW WinWing Hardware for 2024!

I've had an itch that needed scratching for a while, made itchier thanks to the fantastic Miltech Simulations CH47D in Microsoft Flight Simulator.
What has it made me end up doing? Well, I've purchased a load of WinWing fighter hardware including HOTAS and Throttle AND downloaded DCS, purchasing a ton of addons along the way!

Hey Avgeek, love to see you getting into DCS. I have been flying in msfs, xplane, and DCS for the past 2 years now and love all of them. I started with the honeycomb yoke and throttle when I first started xplane and msfs 2 years ago, but I upgraded to the winwing f16ex stick and f15ex throttles when I started DCS a year ago. If you ever need help for dcs I would love to help. I pretty much only fly the f18 and have done some stuff with the f15c and f15e. I am a part of some groups, milsim and non super milsim (its serious but nothing crazy). If you would like some help or would like to join one of the groups for people to fly with I would love also getting you in.

Welcome to DCS. I have a seriously ancient Thrustmaster Warthog set up. Would love to replace it with some WinWing gear.

@@BritishAvgeek I have heard great things about WinWing stuff. I will have to get a stick first and a throttle later to keep costs down. Looking forward to your DCS videos but keep the MSFS ones coming as well as I enjoy those, especially the tutorials you do. Always picking out new details even on aircraft I think I am familiar with.

Very exiting. As much as i love MFS, DCS multiplayer with persistent battlefields are just so much more rewarding with a real feel of mission and reason to fly. Dropping troops in a hot LZ while being supported by fast jets is an absolute blast. Really looking forward to your DCS journey. Btw, the Apache is the biggest bugger of all helos in DCS i should say with a rather twitchy ATT/YAW, but an amazing machine.

I own the A10-C II in DCS and it's an absolute masterpiece. The BRRRR never gets old.

@@BritishAvgeek It is a bit hard to learn if you try it yourself. Try getting with someone that’s proficient in it and it should be much easier. I think it’s the best CAS plane ever. Nothing will ever match what it does.

Did exactly this about a week ago! Need to get a headtracking solution sorted as I hear Tobii is sometimes temperamental when dogfighting but once that sorted (Probably TrackIR) cannot wiat to begin. Maybe along with some tutorial videos from you....?

Yeah I've had to buy all new hardware to give this a proper go - all my setup angles to airliners which makes it tough on dcs in a fast jet 😂 I'd love some transport type ops and really looking forward to the Chinook!

Just to add, to get the best out of dcs you will need to use a vr head set and voice attack makes so much easier for a/a refueling and landing and spotting enemy aircraft

I don't have a VR headset sadly - though have Tobii Eye Tracker 5 (not happy with how that works in the apache though, it's pretty horrible how I have it set currently)

@BritishAvgeek yes it is. But it's a new type of fun. 30+ years of playing wwII Sims. Son told me these days we don't use them guages. Looking at getting the winwing iceman setup. Shure looks nice.
