hard to get into research ❌ hard while getting into research ✅

That last section about how to succeed in research was very helpful, would love to hear more about your experience navigating challenges in research

You can also do research outside of uni, as an independant, just get started, make a google doc, start learning stuff, making notes, etc. Asking questions about things you want to know about their papers, etc

Could you explain it more?

It would be great if you could elaborate on this as I am fresh high school graduate with no research experience and am looking to independently research as well

Great video. I've recently gone back to school to study physics and have wanted to get involved in research but was unsure how to go about it. You've given me some ideas. Thank you!

As a high school student, I have been so lost/intimidated by the process of reaching out to professors at my local uni for research. This was very informative, I'll definitely be sending some emails now!

Can I schedule an email with this video to myself in 2018?

That was actually great advice im transferring next semester to a new university and definitely am going to apply what you said on looking at the professor's current research, see if its something your interested in, and sending a professional email with a resume.

I love this channel, I’m hoping to grow and learn outside of just school and long lectures. I was disappointed I couldn’t find more content on your page but I hope you keep this going and growing 🙏❤️

Great, I appreciate all above, research is not too hectic as we consider, I'm high school student but i've made research on advance physics, also publish papers in reputed journal.

Another amazing video Dario! I would also recommend interested students try to meet with undergrad/doc students already in the lab to understand the responsibilities and expectations of a lab member and the mentoring style of the PI!

Wow dario great video! I would also recommend reaching out to or CCing the office administrator that works with the department as they can often make your email likely to be viewed

This video was truly great, I think if you upped your production qual just a tiny bit (i.e. better background, slightly better lighting/white balance) this channel will blow up - keep rocking

I appreciate it! Background is something I’m aware of I’ll get there soon :)

Getting a research career: like a 5% chance probably

To be honest, I used to think this too, but really professors are just looking for highly motivated students that are willing to learn a lot and help out where they can. Whether it’s assisting in manufacturing of experimental setups or writing analysis code to interpret results, there are many ways that you can be of value in research. It’s really just a matter of if you are willing to learn a lot and clear the initial learning curve.

Thank you! This video definitely helped! I have a quick question though. I ended up reaching out to a professor in another university where I basically added a feature to this model with the help of his PHD student. Does this "count' as doing research since its not something that is going to be published.
@DarioTringali2 күн бұрын
I’d say this more falls into something you can put under a “projects” section on your resume. Unless you were like working with that lab for many months making it. But now you can use something that to show to other professors to get more research!
@alliagetexas17162 күн бұрын
hey man i love your content i just watched all three of your videos and i wanted to ask you something. So im a sophomore and im about to get started in my 4 th semester since i started university and my gpa is a bit low and i want to know if enrolling in a masters program and killing it will cover for these grades by the time i reach the PhD level
@DarioTringali2 күн бұрын
They will always forgive poor grades in the beginning of your undergrad if you show improvement as you keep going. So don’t worry about the overall number of that’s ur case. Best way to make grades matter less though is have better extracurriculars! Especially if you are considering grad school getting research is probably the #1 thing you can do and you will learn a lot on how to solve problems which will also translate into getting better grades.

Not for international students
@arnav.mohapatra7 сағат бұрын
International students at US institutions definitely still have the ability to participate in research, albeit a little more restrictive when it comes to ITAR restricted or US government funded contracts. That being said there is no shortage of opportunities where you can apply yourself
