Getting my first deer and buck - November 2023

This is my second year hunting, I went out to my sisters property for regular firearm season here in Michigan and not only got my first deer but also my first buck! (Also my first time gutting a deer...lots of firsts for me this week).

crazy youtube reccomends this to me as im getting into hunting. Do you have to gut it yourself? How would you recover the deer if you dont have an 4wheeler?

Yes I had to gut it myself for the first time, just followed a KZbin video and went in for it! If I didn't have the 4wheeler I would've had to drag it out which luckily I was on private property so wouldn't have been a big deal. They make straps and carts for moving deer you can buy ahead of time though.

No problem! And yeah gutting was my biggest concern going into hunting as well. It's best if you have someone who is experienced to guide your hand but if not (like in my case, I'm the first hunter in my family so don't have many folks to get experience from) just take it slow, don't cut too deep right away, take your time. Read up on the anatomy of a deer and watch plenty of videos before. I'm sure you'll be just fine, the smell isn't as bad as I expected 😂
