I ran across some three thousand year old trauma porn. There was a woman who tries to travel to her parent's house to give birth, which seems to be a custom in India at the time. Her husband and a five year old son are with her. She goes into labor prematurely on the trip and is forced to stop in the wilderness. Her husband goes to get wood to build a fire, but never comes back all night, and cold and with no help, she gives birth. She recovers enough to get up the next day and finds her husband was killed by a poisonous snake. She's close to her parent's house so she decides to finish the trip. When crossing a flooded river, she crosses holding her premature newborn above her head, but an eagle snatches it away. She screams at the bird, and her son on the bank behind her thought she was signaling him to cross, so he is swept away by the river, and when she makes it to her parent's house, she finds it burned down and her parents died in the fire. That's an old Buddhist story, I'm pretty sure it's from the canonical Pali sutras although I'm having a hard time finding it again with Google.
