Terrific content, no notes. Something about watching you and your friends learn this game by crashing into it face-first is the perfect combination of frustrating and funny.

Glad you're branching out! and also learning what hovercraft are useful for :P I think you're a bit confused about the set target command. There is the 'fight' command (the pink line), that tells units to 'move to the target location and then stop moving once an enemy is within range' But doesn't actually tell them what to shoot, it's like an attack move in most games. The set target command S (the yellow line) that tells units to shoot the target if it is within range but doesn't order them to actually move. See 25:08 You're issuing a fight command and then cancelling it immediately with a move, never set the commander as the target. You can also have set target become the default when right clicking an enemy, instead of attack. I think this is the better way to micro if you're going to control the movement. You right click the ground to move, and right click the units to set target. No keyboard leys required then.

@uThermal2 Please read this! The Fight Command is so useful when you have powerful units that you don't want to get swarmed, or for pushing into turrets etc. Your units will move forwards, then stop and engage at maxium range until they have no targets and then move forwards again until they reach their destination. This means you don't need to worry about exposion damage, or getting into range of the enemy d-gun or getting swarmed. You don't need to do complex splits or anything, just F-move accross the map :) Then the set target command (everyone remaps it ro right mouse button) means you give the units a priority target (e.g. enemy commander, enemy turret, enemy mex, enemy energy converters etc). Then you just micro your units on a run by and any that can hit the priorty target will do, everyone else will just shoot at what it can. It means you don't need to worry about moving close or focusing something, you just have the priorty set and can move round normally. These two quality of life hacks will give you so much more micro potential and really boost your harass and army fights. Not to mention they are essential when you get to more advanced play (rocket bots, artilary etc) which will come up in multiplayer (e.g. the bridge map you fought) way more than single player

So good to see you having fun in the team games:) Hovercraft are fairly situational, they can't take damage from torpedoes and don't suffer much from difficult terrain so are good for bypassing subs, but are otherwise quite weak for the cost.

Keep in mind, the AI is like got at harassment which is different than low level players. Honestly, at whatever difficulties it's better than players in some ways at finding gaps in defense

so nice to see you getting better and better!! some things to note here: -the capture command on the commander can take control over a enemy unit, so you steal it. Works on buildings as well. Does not work on destroyed stuff -Hovers can not attack submarines or underwater mexes, only some boats and torpedo launchers and other other subs can. -Subs and torpedo launchers can not attack hovers, as they are not realy in the water hope you find some of that useful :)

Now that you're getting into more team play are these becoming more and more ads for BAR. The team play is so much fun to watch.

If the enemy has an entrenched position that you can't get them to leave, the best option is a fixed (or mobile) artillery piece or a few with a radar to spot for it, and remember, if brute force isn't working, your not using enough of it! And you can have artillery units fire at ground even without a spotting radar.

Just want to emphasize the sentiment that hovercraft are for flanking in unexpected places and being versatile and are not good for direct engagements most of the time. Also, your opponent is running Cor cruisers, which are generally considered the king of brawling fights on the sea. PS: Don't expand build power when you're stalling energy already.

Highly recommend to everyone that's trying to learn the game to give the AI a try in a small team setting. Either 2v2 or 3v3 with other players being AI's, you'll learn basics and you'll learn what it feels like to defend vs aggressively raiding opponent and then to project that on other players once you get into PvP.
@AnonymousVenatorАй бұрын
That's now how you use the fight command. It's basically to stop if your unit gets in range without taking into account set target.

hover is fast but low armor/hp and mostly low damage... good for runbies, bad for base defense or sustained pushes... hit and run, hit and run, and no hahaha no depth charges

When are you finally going to get the quintessential BAR experience in Glitters 8v8? Get into 2v1, get screamed at by some randos for not canceling a run-by with power of your thought, seeing dude building 10 AFUs while you get rekt at the front by T2.... You know, the fun stuff. Seriously, though, on Glitters you typically get involved in "holding the front" dynamics, which is quite different from 1v1. There more powerful defense structures make sense, there are different unit compositions / micro (e.g. mass rocketeer is quite powerful), etc.

You just perfectly summed up why I hate big team games and will never take them seriously..... Way too many factors independent on my performance for me to enjoy it, like getting cooked 2v1 or 3v1, or having a greedy random teammate. Not to mention games last forever.
