The manufacturer's instructions caution to keep the first few cooks under 350F to help seal the gasket properly. Your example here of a first cook gets the temperature up to 500F. Might want to rethink this to better align with current instructions.
@ChefJasonMorse6 ай бұрын
hi Joel, this is designed to be the first cook after the burn in process or after you have set the gasket. as you can see my egg has been cooked on before, so my gasket was set and the egg was already burned in. We will make sure to be more clear about that for sure. thanks for the comment. Happy Grilling, Chef Jason

So Chef, I just purchased a BGE; been a griller as far back as I can remember. Do I discard all of my charcoal from my regular? I have to buy special charcoal for this thing? Also, I just want to make sure I understand - the charcoal, i.e., chunks I have to buy don't use any kind of chemical to light? Do they just light with this special lighter?
@ChefJasonMorse2 жыл бұрын
Hi Prissy, the big green egg uses lump charcoal, I would suggest using the big green egg brand to get to know your grill. You will use fire starters, tumbleweeds or a big green EGGniter to start the fire. Don't use any starting fluids. Once you are done cooking, close all the vents and the egg will snuff. then the next time you're going to cook, simply, stir the charcoal to remove the ash, add some fresh to the top and light it again. Happy Cooking, Chef Jason

Good video, thanks, but as a video guy I know you can do better on the sound. Use a body mic or at least an overhead boom mic for consistent sound that doesn't go in and out.

Such a waste of time and $. Just get a damn Weber kettle and you can achieve the same damn result. Not that difficult.

I'm a BGE user for 10 years now...sorry to tell you that Kamodo Joe beats the BGE in every single category from what is included in the basic grill to the construction of the components. This is a hard pill to swallow for people who have shelled out the dollars for BGE products but I have compared the two grills and while BGE was content to rest on its laurels and not innovate KJ seems like they gathered all of the negative issues with BGE and addressed them with their grill...and yeah, they are a better grill by far. I was a BGE dealer for several years and get a discount on the one I have..but had that not been the case and I was buying from scratch KJ would get my money now because it delivers far more value for the dollar.
@nicg95993 жыл бұрын
you pay a lot more for the KM up front because of all the stuff that comes with it. BGE is fine if you don't need all that extra stuff the KM comes with. As far as quality, they're pretty much the same. The KM isn't really any better than the BGE. BGE has been around forever and cooked plenty of great meals.
