I haven't played since Theros, and I was strictly paper at the time. I had a navy friend of mine get me back into playing and MTGO seemed like the better choice because of the distance (also card availability in some countries) and this has hands down been the best vid on how to get started. Appreciate your work friend!

Great guide. As someone who just started using MTGO yesterday, this was really helpful, and while browsing the cardhoarder free bot you recommended, I had an idea. Maybe you’ve done this already, maybe you haven’t, but I’d love to see a commander clash game featuring only cards from free bots and basic lands. With cardhoarder alone, that’s 64 cards and 36 basics right on the dot. I might try this with a couple of friends, and see how it goes. One thing I expect is that everyone involved should probably do it on separate days, so as to not directly interfere with each other’s card pools. With some legends being uncommon, it is something people could actually do.

Quit spitting that poison at everyone. That stuff phyrecked mishra & karn. That was one of the sets I played paper. I still have my modern/legacy infect in case I ever want to enter a paper tourney. It's a solid cost effective way to get into eternal. And a clever player can be competitive with it in any big boy (eternal) format. And splashing color makes it pretty adaptable/ versatile. It can be agro, tempo, or control. All rolled into a combo esc group of interactions.

What annoys me the most is that the main reasons to play mtgo are things which does it better than Arena. I get it with the cardpool, but why does it do things better like "you can get the cards you need". I think its a huge development flaw on WOTC side, especially the dusting system is so bad, I would consider it being scam

How do you buy a deck easily, making sure not to get dupes of what u already own? The way you showed only works if you own nothing, right? Do all bots of the same company have the same inventory? Example cardhoarder#1 and cardhoarder#2. If not, how do you know which bot to go to to get the cards u want (Other than through ordering on the website, which he showed.)? Is there a search to see which bots have which cards? You didn't explain much how the loaning works. So how do u know how much u have left in your loan balance? How do you give cards back so u can loan more? How many tix a week or month do these loan companies give you? Thanks!

Hmmm interesting. Seems more authentic and social than arena, where also I find sound fx and animations a bit obnoxious and too modern for my taste 😅 Annoying that you can't just buy the singles that you need in there. On the other hand it's great that you don't have to spend much money or any at all in there though. Great for beginners in that regard with all its bot tutorials and wast collection of (alchemy based) starter sets. But personally I prefer the aestethics of cards made pre 2003, even though it doesn't have anything to do with the game itself. Maybe it's my ADHD and milder ASD, which makes sensory stimuli extra important for me, I don't really know. But the only way to get cards with that aestethics in Arena is either the retro artifact cards from BRO and sometimes on rare occations, one can apparently buy retro versions of basic lands as some short term special offer for something like 2000 gold coins, which is the price of 2 set boosters in there, which is just wrong imo. Shouldn't cost that much. It's just basic lands as a digital rendering ffs 😅 So it's very interesting for me (as a 1 month old MTG beginner) to learn more about MTG online. Seems like it might be more for me, so I'll try it out in a moment. Might end up using both formats, maybe for different things 🤔 As long as it doesn't turn out to be something like the no longer supported Pokémon TCG Online, where you can wait forever for anybody to take your request for game with retro cards from Base Set to Fossil, because the majority wants to play with new cards. Then I'd have to do something else while constantly keeping an eye on the screen. No good for someone with attention deficity 😅

Man, I tried to play this game but got slapped in the face: bought your deck, made a lobby in open standard, no one joined in 5 minutes. Made Gauntlet for new players, waited for a match for 15 minutes, no one is playing that mode. Then I wrote in Liimited Chat, 26k connected, no one answered, no one was chatting. Is it me or no one is playing? It's bad to play this game as a solo player, without buddies?
