Getting started with Ansible 10 - Tags

Ansible is an incredible configuration management and provisioning utility that enables you to automate all the things. In this series, you'll learn everything you need to know in order to use Ansible for your day-to-day administration duties. In video 10, we learn how to add tags to our plays that can make it easier to target specific things when we don't want to run the entire playbook each time.

Love this tutorial series - this is my second day. I am importing one play into another play … such that I can loop over the imported play (contains several tasks to perform for a given software version) with a list of software versions to update - which is issued by looping over a list of software versions per each server - by the outter play. Works well. 😊 Now … Playing with tags. I’m running into some problems … I have tagged the imported play with several tags. Seems simple. Now, I am trying to use the -list-tags option. if I target the outer play - it list nothing. This makes sense because there are no tags in that one. If I target the imported play with the -list-tags option, it says there are errors. It says that “shell” is not a valid attribute for a play. Am I doing something wrong? Or is this a limitation for the list tags option for this scenario? (With or without the tags, the overall play runs fine - and loops as expected.)
