The Inputs and Outputs on the CX7000 processor module seems to operate differently. The I/O seem to be listed under CX7028 and the IO names in TwinCAT do not match the IO names on the unit. It looks like the might be an additional mapping step involved. Have you run into this case?

The CX7000 provides access to the I/Os via the CX7028 interface. You should see the DIOs listed as modules in "Term 1 (CX7028)" under your Devices listing. According to the CX7000 manual - "the CX7028 interface for controlling the multifunction I/Os has its own CPU and the CX7028 interface is not displayed or does not work under TwinCAT if the power supply (Up) is not connected."

@@ControlXEngineering Yes, there are four modules under Term 1 (CX7028) - Module 1, 3, 5, and 7. Module 1 and 3 have DIO_2x Inputs Channel 1 & 2 and DIO_2x Outputs Channel 1 & 2 and modules 5 and 7 have DI_2x Inputs Channel 1 & 2. I am not sure how to map those to the names/pins on the unit. And, yes I do have the separate power supply lines connected.

You can sort of figure it out from the Term1 Slots tab

For an analog input, you said 16 bits has a max value of 32767 for 0-10V but, that is only true for a 16-bit signed value but is seems the voltage is only positive. A 16-bit unsigned value has a max value of 65537. Can you clarify?

The analog input terminals provides a 16-bit signed integer representation of the analog input signal. For a 0 ..10V input range, the terminal typically uses 15 bits for the positive range (0 to 10V) and 1 bit for the sign. The full-scale range for a 16-bit signed integer is -32768 to +32767. However, since the input is 0 to 10V, the relevant range for conversion is 0 to 32767. For terminals with input range of +/-10V, you get the same resolution but with a signed value. Hope this helped.

@@ControlXEngineering Thanks, that is interesting. So, it is really only a 15-bit input. That should be OK for my application but I will probably ask my buddies at Beckhoff Seattle about it.

I'm trying to connect a Beckhoff CP6706-0001-0050 to a EK1100 EtherCAT coupler. I have a problem when I try to scan for connected I/O devices, only Device1 (EtherCAT Automation Protocol) [Local Area Connection 2[TwinCAT Intel PCI Ethernet] option shows up. And I need the EtherCAT device option. I'm successfully connected to PLC. Anyone has any ideas on what else could I try?

In TwinCAT, first make sure that you're connected to the CP6706, then navigate to menu item: "TwinCAT > Show Realtime Ethernet Compatible Devices...". Under "Compatible devices", select your network adapter that you're using to connect from your PC to the CP6706 and click install. This will install the real-time capable driver for use with EtherCAT.
