Getting Started with Dwarven Forge

I started my collection this year in March, and there was several restocks and I got most everything I wanted and a whole lot more. Creating my sessions with DF has been hands down the most fun I've had since I was a kid. I also got most of them unpainted, and watched the tutorials on their site and all of my Dwarvenite looks just like the factory. 9 months and many many thousands of dollars later I cannot rave enough about Dwarven Forge!!

Watching these videos always makes me want to go build something, and then write some encounters around the build. Honestly, my toys are one of my main motivations to play D&D. It keeps me young, or at least immature.

It can be used for anything! The most common is DnD just because that's the most popular TTRPG, but we just used it for Lancer last night and have seen people use it for Warhammer, Star Wars, and all sorts of things. Basically anything that uses a 25mm to 32mm scale.

I’m brand new to Dwarven forge and looking to invest. A lot is obviously out of stock at the moment. Is this situation more of a covid thing or is this normal over the past decade etc? Thanks! Excited

Historically, we haven't put a lot of focus on keeping the webstore stocked. However, the last two years we've focused on developing starter sets specifically for the store, and they've been doing well. The pandemic severely delayed our restocks, but we have one coming in February and another in March at this rate that will have some of those starter sets. You can see those lists on our site if you click on the Restock header at the top of the page; you can also get advice quickly on the discord or forums if you have questions about any of those sets!

I'm really excited for the web store growth I have seen in the past two years in particular. Its definitely been getting better and more in tune with helping bring in new supporters. More and more core sets being stocked, restocked, and efforts like this vid are on the rise to help introduce people into this, but that same effort has been a victim of unfortunate timing too. The covid thing sure ain't helping! :P

Does it have to say it has magnets for it to have magnets or do they just have magnets?

There's basically a cutoff date; almost all dungeon and cavern stuff we have in store will have magnets, some dungeon sets won't but they'll have "no magnets" in the name. all forest stuff should have magnets, but no city or castle stuff will yet. If you have questions about specific sets, you can get prompt and thorough answers through the discord or customer service email!

I feel that the core sets do not give enough pieces to justify the price. You are best to get cheaper 3D dungeons like dirt cheap dungeon instead.

Step 1 - Take out a loan Step 2 - Buy a load of terrain with said loan. Step 3 - realise you'd be better off buying a 3d printer and printing them yourself.
