I love the topic for this intro video.. but if I could suggest one thing, the first 5-minutes talk about some technical aspects such changing types (3:54), but as a beginner I have absolutely no idea what that is in reference too... so this would have benefits from more screen-sharing.
@kestra-io2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback! We will make more of an effort to screen share in future videos. To clarify your confusion, Will meant the task type, which specifies what kind of task we will have. Whether that's a Python one or a Log. Hopefully it makes more sense from 4:33 where the type is changed from a Log to a Python Commands type. Let us know if you have any other questions!

Great tut! I really prefer simple local kestra flows, to learn using it for everyday tasks ... and finally develop confidence on complex pipelines Please more beginner level python flows like this!

Glad to hear it! We'll definitely be producing more beginner friendly content soon! Stay tuned! 🚀

Having worked with orchestrators such as Airflow, or prefect or even custom ones, I think Kestra nailed it, there is just one little thing I don’t know if it is possible or not, it’s the ability to choose from where to play a flow (even if the flow never ran) this is useful when you have decommissioning flows , the starting point depends on when the principal flow has failed

Very Nice, i'm learning the basics to try to use in a personal ML project. If possible, in next videos would be nice to use some visual indicator of mouse interaction, sometimes it is hard to keep track of what is happening.

How can i install plugins on kestra. It is necessary to go inside Kestra's container to install extra plugins (which are not installed on kestra by default). Isn't it possible to install them through the UI?
@kestra-io5 күн бұрын
You'll need to install plugins in the container currently so we recommend using the `latest` image which contains all the plugins unless you only want a few. We're looking to add a UI page in the future.

Is it possible to take en entire Kestra condifuration, including all flow definitions etc. and export it to a file (sync it with a Git repo), similar to infrastructure as code?
@kestra-io4 ай бұрын
Absolutely - we have a Git plugin that handles this. I'd recommend checking it out, as well as the tutorial videos!

Hi Will, are you able to direct me to the documentation where it shows how to run the docker compose file without root? As far as I can tell, the documentation only shows how to get it up and running using root. It has a comment saying that's for development only and to consult the documentation for how to run it as non-root but I can't find it for the life of me.

Is it possible to run python scripts from a git repository? Instead of editing it inside the GUI
@kestra-io4 ай бұрын
Yup! You can sync files known as namespace files from a git repository and then use the Python Commands task to execute the file with a command.

Is this like a self hosted Zapier?

Similar but with the ability to define everything in YAML as well as the UI gives you more control over your workflows!

why dont i have editor tab like him?
@kestra-io28 күн бұрын
This has been changed in newer versions of Kestra. Now you can edit your workflow from the flows tab. You can access code files under namespaces
@cyborg69420Ай бұрын
there is no editor tab in my ui in the left side. why is it such a bad tutorial
@kestra-ioАй бұрын
Since making this video, our UI has changed meaning the Editor is now only accessible when you create a flow or via the Namespaces page. Hopefully this clears things up!
