Aaron, I'm glad it was helpful. There are several other videos on channel that aim to get people started with Matlab. I usually tell my MS students to also investigate Mathematica as it is very helpful for coursework and research. I've got a separate playlist that focuses on Mathematica. Feel free to check them out and let me know what you think, thanks for watching!

Hi Chris, I am using MATLAB on a Mac. There the commands are a bit different: F5 works as well for running a script, but when hovering with the mouse over the RUN icon, CMD^R is shown. Also, for debugging you need to click on the line number and it turns to red and can be used in the same way.

AE501 Thanks for the quick refresher Professor. One small update for debugging segment is that as of version R2023b the breakpoints can be set by just clicking the line number rather than the horizontal lines by the number.

Thanks for the note. Please let me know if you notice any other things that should be updated in newer versions. This will be helpful for new people who are just starting out with Matlab.
@astr0anna Жыл бұрын
Literally just commented about this. By initiating the break, would it need to be red or green?
@ChristopherLum Жыл бұрын
@@astr0anna, when you enable the breakpoint it should be green but when you actually execute the code and the execution stops at this breakpoint I believe it turns red. FYI, in the future please put the text string 'AE501' in your comment so it is caught by my screening system, thanks.

Hi professor! This video was incredibly helpful at introducing matlab. I did have a question, however, at 23:50, you began describing the small gray lines to the left of the code instructions, and I do not see them appear on my screen. Do you know if there is a certain way to enable them? Thanks again, overall I feel much more comfortable in the program than I did before!

MAE 501. Very helpful as I have no experience with Matlab. Maybe helpful to state which version of the program is being used , I am using the newest version
@ChristopherLum2 жыл бұрын
Very good point, unfortunately this video was filmed using a slightly older version of Matlab. Matlab comes out with new versions every 6 months and usually they are small changes but as you can see, some of the updates change the UI. There are typically no breaking changes in terms of code/syntax but keep your eye out in the future. I will try to mention areas where there might be discrepancies in the future.
