I have used NIK since it come out. It is currently working in the most current OS and Photoshop 2017. When updating your PS it is best to choose advanced settings and allow your computer to keep the previous version of the software. This will also maintain the plugins and the software will easily install into the new PS. It is not being developed anymore but I am not giving up on it. I have been in PS since 1993, version 1 no layers etc. This is a time saving software for many specialties and for now I will use it as long as I can.

I always use photoshop smart objects whenever possible, esp with the exception of NIK tools. The only down side is I think you can't brush the NIK tool if it's a smart object. But it's not a big loss. Creating custom recipes and using them to create several looks to choose from via the smart object, the Workflow is great. I love my Workflow.

you could also do the adjustments on your image as a smart object and be totally non destructive.

GIMP users: You can use NIK software by downloading the Partha build (partha.com) and then calling it up in the 'Filters' menu. You have to have the Nik software already installed, though. Windows only. Good stuff!

Wonder if Topaz Labs would be a better option since it continues to be updated and serviced, etc. I want to love NIK but if it's going away, should we get attached? perhaps we just use the NIK Collection till we can't.

I find Affinity Photo and it's Live View on blend modes to be much better than Photoshop. The Nik Collection works the same way in Affinity Photo.

I have just downloaded PS cc 2018.My Nik Plugins are there and I can use them BUT when I press the OK button the adjustments are not added to the photo in Photoshop

I downloaded the entire Nick collectioñ in my laptop which is running on Windows 7 Ultimate. My Photoshop CS 6 Filter menu bar is showing the Nick Collection option. However as I am opening the file via Raw converter the PS stops responding and the Windows dialogue box VB appears to say something like not compatible. Will someone help please.

I really wish i could have used this Nik Software, but it's not compatible with Photoshop CC 2017 and only half of it works on CC 2017 Lightroom. I tried everything under the sun to get it to work. The funny thing is about 2 months ago it installed and worked fine on photoshop CC 2017 and then it went away from the filter bar. It says it's not compatible with cc 2017 photoshop. Wish their was a way to make it work. Great video as usual Mark!

Nik Efex is definitely compatible with Photoshop CC 2017. I use it all the time without issue.

I use the Nik Plugins with CC 2017 every day. No problems, no loss of any functions I have used in the past.I doubt there is a day that goes by that I do not use ColorEfex, SilverEfex, and Define, occasionally Viveza. I have never used AnalogEfex with any version of PS so I can't speak to that directly.

Unfortunately Nik software doesn't work with CC Photoshop 2017, only half of it works with 2017 cc Lightroom. Tried every way in the book to get it to work with 2017 CC photoshop and they say it isn't compatible.

I have Photoshop CC 2017.0.1 release and it has worked just fine for me. I lost it at one point a few updates ago but just reinstalled and I was fine

Google is going to discontinue nik collection :( There's a small banner in nik collection website saying "We have no plans to update the Collection or add new features over time". Please sign the petition urging google not to do this : www.change.org/p/google-inc-save-the-nik-collection

I wouldn't suggest anyone to start using this. It hasn't been updated for years and will eventually stop working with never PS/LR versions or OS versions. Learn some​ of the tools that are actively developed and updated instead.
