I have a second language Russian from the Soviet Union where I spent my childhood and sometimes I do not like to use my second language because native Russian is better than my second language... A person who spent his childhood outside the English country would never have the same level as my second Russian. This is the main reason why people are afraid to use their second language... After school the problem is to maintain their level in second without using in environment of language and after few years level of second gets a little worse than at the beginning. I got my English in my youth without learning in school and was not aware to have this language in my head until I discovered the ability to understand the language at 34 and I had A0+ language for many years while living in English speaking country.

As we said, it usually comes from ridicule when we are young OR expectations we have for ourselves or that others have for us 🤗
