I consider Shure SM5B to be the best microphone! I used it ower it 20 years, on an FM station.

What about the angle? Would you recommend speaking straight into the mic horizontally, or slightly angled? Great review!!

Great, to the point video on the SM7B. Installing mine in a few minutes. I’ll try the bass settings for the L trains here in Chicago! Lol

Content creators are addicted to bass, but midrange is king in capturing speech. Speakers inside smartphones, tablets, laptops, and earbuds do not process bass well, while car stereos use tend to boost bass. Over 90% of your followers are listening to you through one of these, so ditch the boomy bass! 😆We don't speak at 100Hz. 👉On the back of the SM7B there's a switch that enables a built-in high pass filter, making it much easier to get better sound for a spoken voice. TLDR: Cutting bass will make you sound so much better on your audience's devices. Followers will notice you sound better, and they'll love you for it. 5★ video from B&H here. More content creators should watch it! 👍 2:00 Shure must've done this on purpose. They know people are using these things like dynamic mics, and that creators often love to show off their fancy mic, so they placed the diaphragm further back - a smart choice on their part!

Thanks. I also appreciate showing the prices in the “more” section. To be brutally honest, your Joni Mitchell could use some work.

Hi there 👋 great video! So just to confirm, all I would need additionally for this mic to work is an audio interface? Or is there any other device that I need?
@BandH2 ай бұрын
All you would need is a USB audio interface with quality microphone preamps that can provide enough gain (at least 60 dB) for the gain-hungry SM7B to sound great. Like this one: Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB-C Audio Interface (4th Generation), B&H # FOS2I24G: bit.ly/3TRmJA1 >Mark

my shure sm 7b is clipping at all high singing tones.. is connected with a fethead to an Audient ID 14 MK ll and into a Macbook with Logic Pro... what shall I set the mic settings to? what gain shall I set on the sound interface? what shall I set all the settings in the Logic Pro to? like decibel and volume? I am a total beginner in recording and just bought my gear... please advise.... thanks for a great channel

There are no general or one-size-fits-all settings for your set-up with the Shure SM7B. You will need to experiment to find the best settings for your work flow.. A strong vocalist may need to take a step or two back from the microphone. >Mark

i built a square booth with molton curtains but i want to just cover 3 sides ....which side should i leave uncovered? front, side or back of the sm7b?
@BandH5 ай бұрын
This is probably not as critical as you are thinking. Cover the side that connects the back and front. Test each side before completing the project to gauge the quality of the recorded sound. >Mark

I think the "large diaphragm" bit isn't accurate (I can't find any mention of that anywhere else). Most sources say the 7 has essentially the same capsule as the 57 and 58. Other differences make for the smoother frequency response and lower output of the 7.
@mackenlyparmelee54405 ай бұрын
It does use the same capsule, it's just the housing that makes it's FR the way it is.

I have an Elgato Wave DX with the Wave XLR right now and I'm wondering if there would be any point in upgrading to the Shure SM7B in the future and maybe a Bridgecast XLR interface what would you recommend
@BandH9 ай бұрын
If your application demands stronger and punchier VO and a more advanced interface is part of your game plan, then seriously consider the Roland BRIDGE CAST X Dual Bus Streaming Mixer and Video Capture BH #ROBRIDGECSTX (bhpho.to/49m7STQ) and the Shure SM7B Vocal Microphone (bhpho.to/3qrHZB6). You and your listeners will definitely hear the difference. >Mark

I hate that mic! That unnatural, booming sound annoys me. My money is with Lewitt… by a long shot
