It's so fun to read a book that takes place in your hometown, or close to where you are! I live around the Rochester, NY area and there's a vampire novel by Vivian Vande Velde called Companions of the Night that takes place here. It's been a while since I've read it, but it was one of my fav's as a teen.❤😊

Oooh cool! Rochester isn't too far away from me (a bit less than 4 hours) - maybe I'll have to look into that book, I love my vampire novels lol But you're so right, it's so fun to see places you know referenced, it feels like insider knowledge! Since this video I also read a memoir where the author grew up in Allentown, PA and I lived there for 4 years in college so that was also pretty cool!

Query letters are SO daunting, and I have written a few before this and they honestly were terrible lol so writing this one gave me a lot of anxiety, but I think what made it easier is that I had a very clear idea of what this novel is about - my last novels were a little more disjointed and it was hard to say what the novel was, which was why my query letters were vague and unappealing. I think if your plot is solid, the query letter becomes easier!

I'm about 65 percent done with my novel first draft and due to work and stuff I can't seem to finish, but I vow to get it done by the new year

The new year is a great marker and goal to have! It is definitely hard to write with having a job and other life duties, but being reasonable about how much you can get done and how quickly is important! Good luck!
