Beautiful job on the China cabinet. I would display assorted vintage tea cups and saucers, assorted vintage cake plates or serving platters leaning against the back of the cabinet to let your family and guests admire the patterns I would put a teapot, sugar bowl and creamer vintage set too inside the cabinet. In addition I would show off several types of dessert plates. None of the patterns need to match. And if you like to collect and blue china then display that I’m not sure I would put in books. Also some smaller china vases and some delicate figurines would look lovely. Maybe leave the ginger jars on top of a side table or the marble pedestal you purchased. The lock on the China cabinet may have been installed to prevent the household servants from stealing the silver or other valuable items that were stored by family. Cheers from a 45 year china collector in Canada 🇨🇦 🍁

If the cabinet can from an antique mall it was probably a display cabinet for the store that was locked to insure against theft.

Good to know hobby lobby has better quality. When a group was making rag quilts,( years back) someone suggested going to the states to get lower cost fabric. But several people got most of their fabric here at Essex,Ont. Sewcraft store. So the people who got theirs in the states were able to get some colors and variety they couldn't here. Their quilts looked nice - until they washed them... Rag quilt took on a different meaning, they were so washed looking they appeared awful...so I guess the quality really was worth the price.

If I had a piece like this, I would use it to show off the dishes that belonged to my paternal grandmother. They were a wedding gift back in the late 30's early 40's, plus a Galway crystal bowl she used to keep hard candies in. They were passed onto me after my grandfather died in 2009, as my daughter was their first great grandchild.

You need your own space that is YOURS and YOURS alone! An extra free standing garage for an art studio and creating. My kids got on my butt for collecting items. lol So when spring comes I am building a garage for me. But low and behold, my 16 yr old decided that he needed his own space to for small engine repair and car oil changes so he could earn some money. He has friends doing quite well with this venture and I am proud of his ambition plus he learned how to weld at our high school that has trade school. He will have his first welding certificate next year. Welders r hard to find and make good money. We need more people working from home and taking control of their finances like u r doing. Good job with everything. Keep it going. Let's teach our children how to be financially independent. They learn a lot from us.Sidenote: My 16 yr old has a rare tumor that made him go blind in his right eye. We will be leaving for California soon to a childrens hospital for 2 months of treatment and a surgery following after that. But my son talks about the future and what he can do in his life. We both refuse to ever give up on our dreams and this is why I don't mind getting him his own space to. He deserves it! P.S. CANCER SUCKS but I will be it's worse enemy cuz that's what MAMA BEARS do. Keep inspiring others with your projects. I applaud you.

Letting your kids participate...absolutely yes! Both our boys were interested in my husband's tinkering with computers, laptops, game controllers, game consoles, you name it. Our oldest son works in IT/Networking/Security (I have no clue, haha!) and makes more money than I've ever made! Our youngest is in the US Air Force working with the electronics of fighter jets. He said the training is a whole lot easier than he thought it would be. He had a solid foundation! Also our youngest helped me care for our dogs (we've always had doggos); brushing them, bathing them, clipping their claws, feeding, training, walking them and so on. At one point when he was around 8 or 9 years old, our dogs would sleep at our door, and our son would bring his blanket and pillow to lay down and sleep with them. ❤

I work in miniatures,1:12 scale mostly. It's absolute passion. I'd make a 1 of a kind, personal dollhouse out of this cabinet. Of course, showing my most treasured and timeless pieces. They can be quite expensive and very intricate. This cabinet is gorgeous.

I think that is a wonderful idea for a cabinet like this. I would find out when it was made and make everything inside look like the peiod of the piece. Bottom shelf kitchen, buttlers pantry, sculley, cooks room and dining room for the staff. Second floor entry, dinning room, receving/drawing room and smoking room. Third floor bedrooms and bathroom, study/ library. Third floor nursery, childrens room, nannies room. Top floor maids and butlers rooms and attic rooms. If there is more shelves it would be amazing to be able to have a ballroom,Separate library. Now I want to find one too. I still have a big dollhouse that I need to build before I do anything else. Lol

That stripe fabric is called ticking. Used to be cheap strong fabric used for down pillows and mattresses. Tightly woven so feathers and such don’t poke out as much. Am impressed with your stretching stripe fabric so as not to be wavey. Good job. It’s not so much the weight but the force that allows a butt to break through caning. I had two Bruerer chairs that my very small friend collapsed on--ripping the cane.

Can I share a tip ...an awsome repurpose of old gift card or credit cards ...they make AWSOME pot and counter scrapers first off and easy to reshape edges to fit curves of pots or pans ...ALSO awsome putty knives for both filling drywall holes & holes in wood like you are filling here ...also make great edges for painting or staining to avoid using tape😉

Hello. I’m loving the China Cabinet, and the basket you put your tree in is perfect. I bought a basket that size, and it looked like yarn on the outside, Pretty blue color. The curio cabinet is absolutely stunning! The blue & white pieces, as well as the other accessories stand out so beautifully against the dark stain of the cabinet. I believe that piece is a Queen Anne Curio Cabinet, possibly early 1900s to 1920s. As for the caned chairs you reupholstered, personally, I am not confident they will hold up long term. I could be wrong, but as I recall jute webbing with black stitching is for the back of the chair and red stitching is for the seat. I also noticed after you nailed the webbing on the seat, it was not taught. That may be because you didn't use a stretcher. Hope you don't mind my 2 cents worth?? Nevertheless, I really enjoy your videos and look forward to many more.
